Jennings Canine is hands down the best dog trainer in the area (and probably outside of the area,…read moretoo!) we went through three trainers before finding Jennings, and Brian Jennings had our dog fights under control after two sessions. He listens, cares, and creates a plan that works for you AND your dogs. He also trains right in your home (or wherever the unwanted behavior is) so that you know it is being addressed. We've found other trainers to be fine at basic obedience, but not with behavioral issues. Brian is both and more. I cannot recommend him highly enough! Pictured are our three former MMA fighters, now living peaceably in Charlton, MA!

Bravo to him! We hired Brian to help us train our Springer, Beardsley when he was young. As you read here, Brian came to our house, Beardsley fell in love with him and nearly instantly wanted to do whatever, whenever Brian asked. He helped us understand our dog and train him to be the best possible version of human companion imaginable, and Brian's lessons have remained in our heads and been practiced through the acquisition of our family's future pets. I see no need to echo what everyone else here is saying, it's all well-said and entirely true. Brian is worth his weight in gold. But two things I haven't heard here do deserve emphasis. Brian is absolutely great at relating personally to the dog lovers he works for. He empowers them (us) to become good trainers ourselves without mentioning the fact that he's doing so, so that you become adept at how to manage your dog's behavior and understand his inner brain workings by the time the training sessions are completed. This is a very good thing. Also, I have perhaps never had more usable advice in teaching a pet (or a child, even) than when Brian said to me, "Linda, just saying Beardsley's name louder isn't a command. Tell him what you want him to do." (Sit, Stay, Leave it, etc.). The Best of the Best!

Anyone who meets my girl today tells me how she is one of the best and well trained huskies they have ever met! I rarely even need a leash for her since she listens to me very well. Today I came back to Sol with our newest addition, another husky, for obedience training and once again I am just blown away by the effectiveness of his methods. Our newest pup has had some aggression issues, which was making us a bit wary of him, but Sol taught us what to do in these situations and now we feel comfortable and confident with our new husky. His demeanor is already much calmer and happier! Sol's methods are aimed at training the owners rather than the dog. If the dog is doing something wrong he never blames your pup, but helps you understand what you are doing wrong that makes your dog act the way they are. So be prepared to go and learn and listen. Most importantly, do the exercises he gives you, otherwise you won't see any improvement. I can say confidently that his methods work extremely well as long as you commit and take responsibility for your dogs behavior. I have a wonderful husky and I can't wait to have another with Sol's help!

Here's the thing with sending your dog to training. It ONLY WORKS if you continue the work after…read more Having said that - I have nothing but amazing things to say about Doggone Fit and their staff. They are caring and professional. They get to really know your dog and set up a plan according to their behavioral needs. It is not a "one size fits all" training method as different dogs require different experiences with training. We are experienced German Shepherd owners, but we adopted a 9 month old Shepherd who had no previous training and was traumatized by the sudden death of her previous owner. She was nervous and insecure. She needed more than what we could give her. In comes Doggone Fit. Our trainer Richie fell in love with Leia and she him. We did the 2 week board and train and it was worth EVERY penny of the $2K+ we spent. Leia needed to learn some boundaries and build some confidence. She came home loving the tools and structure she learned. **And I will say it again** - YOU NEED to continue with the training. Your dog will come home improved and will have learned the tools, but unless you continue with the protocol your dog will backslide. We have stuck with Doggon Fit's protocol and Leia is thriving. We even boarded her for the first time with Richie and she was in heaven. It was like summer camp for her. Richie sent us daily updates and photos and we felt so good knowing she was having fun and in the hands of someone who cared for her and obviously knew her training needs. Here's a picture of our happy, confident girl now. She has come so incredibly far. If it wasn't for Doggone Fit we probably would have continued to struggle with meeting her specific needs. She loves the work she learned there and we continue with it daily. It gives her the confidence and structure she (and many dogs) need.

We initially worked with Richie for an introduction to training, which was tremendously helpful. We then worked with Joe Langlois, who was excellent with initial training and weekly adventure hikes for our pup. He spent so much time getting to know our pup to make sure he could bond and effectively work with him. He also took a tremendous amount of time to listen and explain everything including tips to help with our pup's anxieties, which have been an invaluable help. We loved having our high energy dog participate in the adventure hikes and seeing all the adorable photos Joe would very actively post after almost every walk. He obviously loves dogs and really cares about giving them exercise, fun, and training. Also he has rescued all of his dogs, a good marker of how much he cares about dogs in general. We hope to continue working with Joe and highly recommend.

After getting up early in anticipation and bathing my Lab, donning the mask, signing a Covid-19 release on the spot, meeting some nice people and their dogs, I was treated to being sequestered from the rest of the class, because they screwed up and did not have me on the list. And they were bouncing me around. Oh you need to talk to Cindy, the office-business manager. Did not bother introducing me to Cindy to help straighten things out. I had to speak up through my mask and with bouncy Lab in hand, "Excuse me, are you Cindy?" Cindy found the Paypal email, for what seemed like the first time. Honestly, she was the most helpful in the situation. Then Cindy talks with the teacher. They mumble, mumble, mumble. The teacher comes to me with the directive, you'll have to wait, because someone who is on the class list hasn't shown yet. Treating me like I am "Flying Standby". And I registered and PAID IN FULL 3 weeks prior. Those were the magic words from the teacher. That was a bolt from the heavens indicating how the dynamic of this whole transaction would be for me. It spoiled the opportunity, frankly. I asked for my money back. And then the teacher is phony apologetic, trying to save the sale. They were pretty reluctant to give the money back, having me get on the phone with the owner, Louise, and she is trying to carouse me into staying. I imagine that the staff are all under pressure. It seems like a pressure place. I simply said no thank you, please refund my money. Of course, she has to do it later, when she comes into the office. I filed a dispute with Paypal/Synchrony Bank, just to return the goodfaith and reciprocity Louise was demonstrating. I had a private lesson here with Diane, and she was recommended. I was impressed, but I also felt the place was uptight. She seemed distracted at times. I'm sure the talent here is impressive. But, it is poorly run. Also, I find it interesting that they are not setup for Google reviews. They seem to want tight control of reviews. I understand. Reputation is important.

My point is, that it's impossible to watch a baby grow and learn but not get attached. So needless to say, when I was struggling I made sure I did my research before sending her ANYWHERE!!! I would text these ladies at probably the most random times asking questions as I thought of them, and they always got back to me. I liked how upfront they were-- very transparent! They were super patient with me! The drop off: When I met with Hilary at Beaver Brook Park, I was literally shaking and teary eyed. Lucy has been such an important part of my life, how could I hand her over to strangers?! Here's how... She let me take a photo of her license, she assured me that I would get updates daily, and basically put my mind at ease the best she could. Driving away broke my heart but I knew this would be a great experience for Lucy! ***The training: I received pictures, videos, phone calls, she always kept me in the loop!! I will admit, it was so heartwarming to see all the cool places Lucy got to explore. Any issues were shared with me and they handled it all better than i could've asked for. Nicole and Hilary-- you can just tell that they are SO loving towards animals. Especially with the pictures, Lucy would hug their arm and you could just see that she was safe, felt happy, and was having fun! ***The pickup: Lucy was ready and finished a day early, so I headed back to Beaver Brook Park! Pickup was about an hour long, they went over her two weeks, what she learned, how to continue the training.. all the do's and dont's! They were again, very patient with me. ***The results!!!!!: I cannot thank them enough. Everywhere I go with Lucy, I get so many compliments! Now that Lucy is a service dog, I've challenged her with restaurants, multiple stores, and talking to strangers in stores. She gets better and better every single day-- which impresses the heck out of me because I thought she did great the first time! Restaurants, she goes right under the table and just watches what's going on, or she'll even take a nap! My heart is just beaming!!! I am SO proud of my girl. I hated not having her home, but I can honestly say, I never imagined that she would be so well behaved and such a great service dog. I recommend these trainers to anyone and everyone who loves their dog and is looking for a safe happy and FUN experience for them to learn!

We had tried a couple of different programs, made some progress but frankly we just didn't have the time required to dedicate using traditional reward based training. The final straw was when the dogs got off leash and just bolted. We could not recall them and thought we were going to lose them. After doing some research and calling references, we made a decision to send our dogs to Giacomo at Off Leash K9 Training. Giacomo kept us updated during the entire process. The progress was amazing; they soon were following several commands: sit, down, off, leave it, come, place and heel both on an off leash and all the work fully guaranteed. There are not a lot of board and train programs around the area, fewer that offer off leash training and none I found that guarantee their work. While your dog(s) will come back markedly improved, you should expect that when you get your dog(s) back, you will need to continue to work with your dog(s). We still continue to practice and re-enforce their training and they still need work but are light years ahead of where they were. We take them pretty much everywhere we go, grocery, building supply stores, department stores and the coffee shop. Would not have thought about taking them anywhere prior to their training. Giacomo is a great guy and loves what he does. The training and the experience is worth every penny! The most challenging part was not having the dogs for two weeks.
