Imagine this: over 20 years ago a teenage Teagin Henderson applied for, and was selected to fill, a position we had for a receptionist and general office duties. She lived at Paddington with her parents, which was a bonus, as our office, Lape & Partners, was located in Petrie Terrace, about five minutes away. We loved Teagin's energy, warmth and genuine nature. Then, one day, she told of us her desire to be a dog trainer and was moving to Melbourne to pursue a course degree in it, with an optimal view of working with our border patrol and customs declarations. But, and there's always a but, that didn't quite work out and she relocated back to Brisbane opening a dog grooming salon in Bardon. And while I admired the move and success she was achieving, my wife was the one who chose the groomer for our Westies, until recently. With her away overseas, along with our usual groomer, and our Westie Pippa in need of serious stripping, I had the liberty of booking her in with Four Paw. And, so, it's become full circle. We had Pippa in today for a stripping and she looks fabulous. The amount of hair removed is quite remarkable and she looks sleeker and fitter than ever, which she was but hidden under a thick coat of fur. It's a pleasure to see someone truly achieving their goals and dreams and then to reconnect with them to experience it personally. It is truly a humbling and awesome feeling and to think we were there, at the inception of Teagin's future thinking, and then to experience it today, was a fulfilling experience few will ever have. In between groomers, our four-legged charge had nothing to loose. I was lucky to be able to get a free spot. Let it be know these guys are popular and are, for example, already booked out for December. I took that as the sign of a good dog groomer. The second sign was how happy the furball was when he was picked up. He'd been able to wander the salon while he waited for us to collect him, and the cut was one of the best I've seen him have. And when they ask you to re-book for 8 weeks take it - they book out mighty fast.

I never went anywhere else, the ladies at the Westlake Nose 2 Tail were friendly from the start. Their love for dogs was evident in the way they would treat mine. They would get down on their knees and tickle their weak spots and try and bond with the dog first before just grabbing the lead and taking the dog into the back grooming room. All their products are eco-friendly, and good for the environment. They also sell cool accessories, leads, food, name-tags and other things for your pets. The groomers know what they're doing, they're honest in their approach and love animals. Plus, my dog doesn't seem too stressed out when I pick her up. Love them to bits. Let's face it, i'll love anyone who makes my baby happy. Dogs can tell the good from the bad, and my dog loves them. At least this time I have a female dog, and there is less pee for them to mop up everytime I take her. Oops! See? Love them. Take your best friend's there, but make sure you book ahead first as they usually book 2 weeks in advance.

When she arrived she helped me with advice on what hair cut to do for a wee black puppy in summer and how to keep up with his regular brushing and nail clipping at home. She even let me hang out so I could get some tips on how to hold him when I brushed him. He's looking cute as all get out now and seemed to enjoy his little pamper sesh. We will definitely be booking in with Lee again.

A neighbour suggested we make an appointment with Grandawa Dog Groomers in Inala for our puppy. The…read moresurrounding area looked a little dodgy, however, I was determined to get my puppy groomed. The groomers looked OK. Clean walls, good stock of food and the man who greeted us seemed nice. The man was wearing 7/8th length cargo shorts with Rivers version of ugly crocs. This should have sent alarm bells already. He asked what we wanted and I said, " just a little bit of a trim to neaten him up". Keep in mind he is naturally a very fluffy little puppy with hair length of approximately 2 and half inches. He said to us, "OK, sure- just leave it up to me". I got the call to say he was ready to get picked up. I arrived there and to my absolute HORROR, my puppy got shaved and was left with hair length of approximately 8mm. To say I was devastated would be an understatement. I took him from the groomer and sat with my puppy in the car as I let my mum 'talk' to the man. Don't get me wrong, my dog might feel nice and breezy now that it's summer, so it's not that, that I'm angry about. It is the fact we were not informed or asked for permission to go ahead and shave him. Most respectable groomers make sure they discuss the grooming with the owners. Unfortunately, not this one. From this experience alone, I would not recommend this place purely because the customer service was poor and left me disappointed.

"But" I think its harsh to slander these Groomers out when they only have the pets Interest at heart. I to had taken Buddy there the first time with a long coat, but he was infested with fleas ones I couldn't see, so they explained to me when I went to pick him up that he needed to be shaved back to a number 1 cut. Buddy is Bichon Frise x. I find also there not like other Groomers or Vets where there out to make a quick buck, or try to push you into buying things from there shop. I like how they explain things more clearly and always have time for there Clients and there Owners. I will always take my business to Grandawa, Angel and Buddy Inala
