Inside edge of door. Cracked between the locking mechanism and the handle.
    Brigit B.

Continuously fails to listen to residents and their requests. Maintenance is hit or miss and safety is abysmal. Almost anyone can get in so you never know who is in the building. Requests for them fix out door have gone unanswered and we are scared for our safety at this point. We need a whole new door but that's "too much work" for them and they won't do it. They have students who are living on their own for the first time and this is the experience they're given? Abysmal and abhorrent. Do better by actually listening.

The rooms are big and new and clean, almost like a brand new apartment complex so I love that.

I was working towards my Master's in finance but opted to switch to another school. I even had a prof that made you request to see the grades results of your tests. Why would you need to attempt to conceal your grading if you are not being dishonest. When I requested to see my graded exam, for the feedback on some of the questions he simply wrote "incorrect". Given this was a math class it should be very easy to provide feedback as to what was incorrect. I didn't have a single professor who came anywhere near justifying the amount of money I was shelling out for tuition. When I withdrew from the course and the school owed me a partial refund of my tuition it was like pulling teeth to get my money back. I had to call and email three times and each time I was told it takes a week for them to process refunds from the time there is a positive balance and asked to wait another week (this was several weeks after the positive balance occurred). I had to pester them to actually have them request for the appropriate department to process the refund.

A short Uber ride from downtown and with the new Q line built there is a station right in front of the apartment that takes you anywhere you need to go along Woodward. The unit includes dishwasher, a refrigerator, oven, microwave, and a washer and dryer. The unit does not come furnished allowing you to customize it your self. I have attached pictures of my one bedroom, one bathroom unit " midtown" floor plan. The apartment building also has a gym that has recently been remodeled and upgraded. It has a television, two treadmills, two ellipticals, a bicycle, assisted benchpress rack, free weights, and a multi exercise weight machine like a bowflex. The current building managers John and Nikki are the best we have ever had. They truly care about the cleanliness of the building, they are very responsive to complaints, and they are constantly striving to upgrade and improve the services of the building. They host monthly events for the whole apartment including things like a happy hour social, or a night out at hop cat all on the tab of studio one. The building managers also have organized a custom coffee and smoothie cart to make drinks for the tenants. They truly care about us! There is a call box at the front door. And a nightly security guard who patrols the property for extra security. This is much appreciated. The only complaints I would have about the location is that on a Friday or Saturday night the people at starters bar and grill downstairs can make too much noise in the parking lot. Also, the parking downstairs is for retail customers only. If you have a car you will need to purchase a separate parking pass in the structure. Overall I give this place five stars for its price, comfort, staff, location, and security, the combination of which is not found anywhere else in Midtown Detroit.

The location is awesome with it being right in midtown. There are a ton of places to walk to and downtown is a 30 min walk or a QLINE ride away. The apartments are super nice, mine has black granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, large windows, and a small balcony. Overall I have had poor experiences with renting and this one has been exceptional with this company, definitely recommend if you are looking to live in the midtown area.

The building is also equipped with its own gym, lobby, and each unit has a washer & dryer (which is awesome for the price & college living situation). Yes the furniture does seems a bit cheaply made, but it does the job, and it was awesome that my unit came with a tv. We have used the buildings services to fix our lights and it was a bit slow, furthermore the garbage truck comes at 5:15am on Monday mornings (plus a few other days) and wakes the whole building up-- which I'm not sure how it manages to wake me up every single time. Lastly, there is a lack of parking & the best option is to either park for free on the street or find a wayne state parking garage within close proximity. Other than that, living at The Union has been pretty pleasant.

It is affiliated with & partially run by Wayne State University. I like the vibe here. It's casual & community oriented. And the diversity of backgrounds & genders represented in it's membership, well, that makes this space stand out from the rest. The building itself is huge and divided into several floors. On the first floor you'll find casual co-working, some dedicated desks and tons of meeting rooms on the 1st floor. There's a large open kitchen and a pantry with fresh food for sale. Ping pong table & popcorn machine are a nice bonus. On 2nd through 5th floors you'll find the various sized private offices of nonprofit orgs, small businesses and larger orgs like the Ford Foundation and Henry Ford Medical. This is the place to run into people who are in business in Detroit, particularly folks at the intersection between academics and business. I am a co-working member, so I see this space primarily as a place to get good Wifi, use the printer and host client meetings, etc. It serves me well and it is a really great price for hot desk co-working. Two complaints: 1. There is an effort to help break the ice & introduce members to each other more often. This is an ongoing struggle, as it can feel very anonymous to work remotely at a co-working space. Right now there's a weekly popcorn & beer mingler on Friday afternoons and a bagel breakfast on Mondays. There's room for improvement in terms of creating real helpful connections between people though. 2. It can get crowded in the middle of the week and on days when a large group books the conference rooms. You'd be surprised how often a group of 40+ people hosts an event here. There's rarely a quiet day on the 1st floor. Overall this is a great space, good community and a nice taste of the Detroit business & nonprofit scene.
