I have been a tenant at this apartment for four years. It is perfectly located in Midtown Detroit. Walking distance from Wayne State medical school, and Wayne State undergrad campus. A short Uber ride from downtown and with the new Q line built there is a station right in front of the apartment that takes you anywhere you need to go along Woodward. The unit includes dishwasher, a refrigerator, oven, microwave, and a washer and dryer. The unit does not come furnished allowing you to customize it your self. I have attached pictures of my one bedroom, one bathroom unit " midtown" floor plan. The apartment building also has a gym that has recently been remodeled and upgraded. It has a television, two treadmills, two ellipticals, a bicycle, assisted benchpress rack, free weights, and a multi exercise weight machine like a bowflex. The current building managers John and Nikki are the best we have ever had. They truly care about the cleanliness of the building, they are very responsive to complaints, and they are constantly striving to upgrade and improve the services of the building. They host monthly events for the whole apartment including things like a happy hour social, or a night out at hop cat all on the tab of studio one. The building managers also have organized a custom coffee and smoothie cart to make drinks for the tenants. They truly care about us! There is a call box at the front door. And a nightly security guard who patrols the property for extra security. This is much appreciated. The only complaints I would have about the location is that on a Friday or Saturday night the people at starters bar and grill downstairs can make too much noise in the parking lot. Also, the parking downstairs is for retail customers only. If you have a car you will need to purchase a separate parking pass in the structure. Overall I give this place five stars for its price, comfort, staff, location, and security, the combination of which is not found anywhere else in Midtown Detroit. read more

I have lived in studio one since May 2017 and it is by far my favorite place I have lived. I have not had a single problem since I moved in besides simple maintenance issues which are fixed the same day and if not, the next day. The location is awesome with it being right in midtown. There are a ton of places to walk to and downtown is a 30 min walk or a QLINE ride away. The apartments are super nice, mine has black granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, large windows, and a small balcony. Overall I have had poor experiences with renting and this one has been exceptional with this company, definitely recommend if you are looking to live in the midtown area. read more

Awful from day one! They had to print 4 different leases before they got it right, I had to create a new email account to match what they had in their system because they couldn't get my email right, thus I wasn't able to log into my account, the light switch has never worked and no one came to repair it, they took a month to repair the dryer (just needed a new belt which I could have done myself in 10 minutes) and the washing machine has never rinsed properly and leaves soap residue all over my clothes. They have come into my apartment unannounced while I was coming out of the shower, they give month-long windows as notice for inspections so you really don't know when they'll show up, they increase rent ridiculously high for all units and claim "it's due to the upgrades as people move out", which means current tenants are paying for upgrades they don't receive. Recently, management looked at the package log and said "someone signed in the wrong spot" under my name but when they couldn't find my package the manager claimed "you probably forgot you picked it up" even though it was delivered the same day and I'm sure I would remember coming to the office multiple times per day. Cops get called over at least once a week between 12-5am due to the Starters crowd downstairs. Today at 1am was the second time in my two years here that I witnessed a shot fired in the parking lot. Needless to say, there is rarely a quiet night here. Whose idea was it to have a bar under an apartment building? All the units facing the parking lot also have the parking lot lights glaring through the bedrooms at night (worse for lower floors) so you have to install blackout shades. Great hideaway in the grand safari of Detroit. Lived here for 4 years during graduate school and had a great time. Super convenient location, attached to a parking garage (costs $$). No big issues really; maintenance issues are fixed super quick. Nikki and John are both super nice and helpful. We had one of the "older units" but it was still amazing. Fridge stopped working a year in, and they simply replaced it. Kind people all around. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I just moved in here and I absolutely love it! It's a huge upgrade from the apartment I was living on before! Everything is new and updated. The apartment building itself was redone a few years ago, and when I had my friends over, they immediately noticed the more upscale feel of it. The windows are pretty soundproof (not 100% but I notice a big difference between an opened versus a closed window). The view is nice, the bathroom, closet space, and living space is bigger than expected as well. And I LOVE the floor-To-ceiling windows! It brings in so much natural light! There's a washer/dryer, dishwasher, and track lights in the kitchen, which are huge pluses when you have had a chance to love without them. I also love the hardwood floors and the bathroom floors. Additionally, there's tons of cabinet space in the kitchen and bathroom - and I'm in the smallest one bedroom they offer! And to top it off, there's a mini-gym and pretty great management and staff (like Bethany) who respond to you right away. I love how close it is to restaurants and WSUSOM, too. And how the parking lot is attached via the third floor. Before I moved in, I thought I would leave after my first two years, but I'm pretty sure I'm staying here until I get placed out of state. read more

The building itself is great. There is in unit washer and dryer and a lot of other great amenities. The units also have really high ceilings and huge windows which I loved. I will say that some things throughout the apartment were not installed properly. A month into moving in our kitchen knobs started to fall off and it appeared that the knobs had literally been glued on. Overall the building is great and so is the location. Management, however, is lacking. Every time I had to interact with management, everything was unorganized and very out of order. They do not answer the phone, reply to emails, or call back after leaving voicemails. They are also very selective with who they choose to file noise complaints with. There were many times our hallway was flooded with 15+ people, late at night, being extremely loud, and nothing was done. Yet having a few guests over, not playing music, shouting, etc will get you a noise complaint. I never minded the noise because it is in midtown but it can be noisy in terms of fellow residents. read more

I love living in studio one apartments. My roommates and I have recently moved into the fifth floor and we are absolutely in love. Horrible place to live. It was incredibly noisy, people partied in the parking lot. The garbage shoot would overfill often. Management didn't care about issues. The laundry is small, both a washer and dryer, made my clothes smell like they were burning. Very expensive for a little place. Walls were so thin I could hear way too much about my neighbors. Got fined $200 for noise we (me & my roommates) didn't make and didn't even get a warning for, but they don't care because they don't even follow up with you about it, instead just send you the fine. One of the times our neighbor complained about some constant knocking/banging coming from our apartment but we were confused about where the noise was coming from as well because it wasn't us. The next day we got fined $200 but they didn't bother to even ask about the noise or even just have 2 words with us, or even knock on our door and explain when dropping off the fine, it's that easy. Honestly, so disappointing. But hey at least our neighbor knew how to use his words and came to talk to us the next morning and settled it. read more

If I could give Studio One zero stars, I would. The most horrible experience I have ever had was living there for a year. The mangers are awful. They will accuse you of anything just to fine you. the apartments are located right under a bar and on Woodward where sirens go off constantly 24/7 . They discriminate against certain people and I honestly am so disappointed because I was so excited to be living there. That was until I realized that the view is not even worth the headache and struggle I went through living there. read more

I have lived here for the past two years and I absolutely love it! I have the 2 bedroom, 2 bath and it is very comfortable to live here. I am in love with the wall windows, and have a gorgeous view! My balcony is very spacious and cozy. There is a secured lot that you pay for a permit through Wayne State University, so your car will be perfectly safe. The building is extremely secure and safe. The only problems that you may have a problem with are the drunk/loud people who come out of the bar at night, but that lasts from 10-25 mins randomly on weekends. Also you may get an apartment on the weekend having a crazy/drunk party, but hey we're on a college campus right? I love living here. It is worth the price for the location and security compared to every other apartment building in midtown, except for university housing. I love Studio One!! read more

I just moved into studio one apartments and had a great experience! John in the leasing office was extremely helpful as I needed to move in and furnish my place after normal business hours. He set everything up really well so I could move in after hours and is even helping me out with all the furniture deliveries that keep arriving while I'm away at work. The apartment was clean and nice and I've really enjoyed living here so far. I highly recommend studio one apartments if you're looking into living in Midtown! read more

Management is incompetent yet simultaneously condescending. If you don't mind being treated like a teenager and getting nickel and dimed on every possible occasion, this is the place for you. When I moved in 5 years ago there were few other living options but now there are many more. It's not just management but maintenance is careless too. They're slow to fix things and when they do half the time your apartment gets left trashed with muddy boots and a half-assed job to show for it. read more

Good apartment building. The staff is very responsive and helpful, with relatively quick response time on maintenance requests. Snow removal is prompt and mail and package delivery is pretty secure. The area is unbeatable...you're in the heart of Midtown. Street lighting is great here. Water is included in your rent, electric is billed per month by DTE. Kitchen appliances are reliable and efficient and the laundry machine and dryer work well too. I only have two real complaints: 1 - The gym that they advertise as an amenity is pretty sparse...2 treadmills, 2 elliptical, 2 "bikes", bare minimum free weight rack, and one multipurpose machine with handholds that break. 2 - Starters Bar and Grill - this is one of the properties that uses the first floor area of SOA and shares the parking lot. This bar has a large, noisy crowd every night of the week and the parking lot gets quite noisy. Unfortunately, this is a location issue and not so much to do with the apartment itself. read more

Horrible. It is way too expensive for what it is, everything is ridiculously cheaply made. Our fridge door did not shut properly which made our electric bill higher than what it was (and management REFUSED to fix). The bathtub drain was clogged when we first moved in. The floor was never properly cleaned and there was a film of gray sticky dirt on the floor that I have to get on my hands and knees and SCRUB off. The ceiling leaked. The ceiling leaked out in the hallway causing the ceiling to fall in, and 2 months later it is still not fixed and smells like mold. The trash shoot and room is always plugged up or filled with garbage. You can hear EVERYTHING that your neighbors do. The laundry machine was a JOKE, you could fit maybe 3 towels in it, not to mention ours didn't even work when we tried to wash kitchen towels. OH and my favorite thing of all. They advertise that there is an attached parking garage included. NOPE! its wayne states property in which you have to pay $425 PER SEMESTER to park in. I would highly advise people not to live here. read more
