On the plus side it has now changed hands and it has improved quite a lot, they have an excellent singer or band on at the weekend and it is free to go in, the drinks are very reasonably priced and the barstaff are very friendly. although it is not my type of pub it is always packed at the weekends when the entertainment is on.

They have a lovely little room for small parties functions etc and the landlord puts on a lovely buffet at very reasonable prices, I think it is big enough for a party of about 50 but there is room in the other part of the pub if you like to mingle. For the smokers they have kindly build a lovely little gazebo type conservatory on the side with a few tables and chairs nicely set out. And watch out for the lady with colour hair she complains about new customers I wouldn't recommend. Beware of the landlady Mo. I wasn't welcomed, and I have to avoid the pub they also don't like gay and disabled. The lady with the pink hair was shouting at me for no reason at all when I mentioned the word drug smells.The customers started laughing at disabled people and customer came across on my table giving abuse out. I watched Star Wars, E.T., and Moonwalker here! So it's with quite some disappointment that I found a very run of the mill Wetherspoon bar. I thought, or rather hoped, that something more would have been made of the buildings cinematic heritage. There's a great range of beers, and an extensive food menu. I went for a large mixed grill whilst my dining partner had the scampi. The food was great, no complaints whatsoever. I had expected to find more seating upstairs. Well, if there is any, I couldn't find a staircase to access it!! For such a large bar there doesn't seem to be that many tables. Most of the clientele appeared to be enjoying the keenly priced drinks, not that many people were eating. Downsides: I did have to wait a long time to be served at the bar, and they had run out of fish!! I'm unlikely to rush back, but it's not a bad option for a reliable meal when in the Leigh area.

Personally, I find the Big screen tv's on almost every wall irritating, but I'm sure there are many who love it. The decor is welcoming and the service good for a town centre pub. The toilets are wonderfully clean and looked after. There are some excellent deals on jugs of cocktails and on the food; unfortunately, we had already eaten before travelling to here, so didn't try it possibly on a future visit? We will definitely be returning at some point. As CAMRA members, the lack of good real ale was a little disappointing, but the John Smith's ESB, served from what looked like handpumps, was quite drinkable, even if it did closely resemble a smoothflow keg beer.
