All three looked directly at me and did not open up there mouths to say not one word to me. To add insult to injury two of them walked right by me looked me in my face and did not ask did I need assistance or anything. I started to purchase something and confront them about the lack of customer service. But I will wear my scrubs down to the SEAMS before I spend a DIME in this establishment. To be a traveling nurse thousands of miles away from your family is one thing. But to literally be treated as if I don't even exist is absolutely horrible in this day and time. When we went to the counter we were made to feel like an inconvenience. We did not appreciate the remarks made either, making us want to take our business somewhere else. We didn't want to believe the negative reviews we had read prior and wanted to be optimistic and give them a chance for ourselves. They emphasized our order would take over a week, however the name tag could be done the next day. Again the store was basically empty besides 2 other couples browsing, but we thought okay, maybe it does take longer to embroider and engrave than expected. When it came time to pick up our order we had given them extra days passed the notification call that the order was ready. They forgot the engraved name tag and ended up doing it in 5 minutes. Why they had us wait 24 hours for something that was able to be done in 5 minutes I have no idea. We also waited a week for a patch to be sewn on that we could have done ourselves for free, and there were stray strings hanging. The woman emphasized we were NOT able to sew the patch on ourselves and that they would have to do it for us. At the very end, we did not have a good first time experience.

The other day I went in to try and exchange some 5.11 pants. I had called them a couple of weeks prior and asked about doing this exchange, the rep stated that would not be a problem. Now these particular pants had not been purchased at Carpenter's but I knew that they carried that style and I was hoping to just exchange for a different size. The size that I was bringing in is a pretty common size and would not be hard to resell. When I got there, they had no idea who I had talked to, and gave me several excuses including "their account department would not allow that", and "if they ever had to send a shipment back the stock levels would be off." Seriously, how often do you need to send 5.11 pants back?? Anyway horrible experience and I will not be returning for duty or off duty items in the future. Update (9/9/2015) - Several days after I wrote this review, I received a call from my director that Carpenter's had taken the time to call her and let her know that I was trying to sell uniforms that were purchased thru my work. First I was not trying to sell anything, merely exchanging for a different size. And more importantly, the pants were not even part of my work attire, they were pants that I had bought on my own online, and did not have the receipt to return for a different size!! My Director understood and in the end, it only made Carpenter's look worse then they already are...

They have a tailor available for any altering or sewing that needs to be done...if you don't want to do it yourself. Sometimes you have to leave your uniform for a day or two, but it's worth the wait. The shop is located just inside the doors of the Mid-Iowa Fred Maytag II Scout Center so if you've never been here before make sure you check out the grounds and the facilities.

This was a breach of contract on their part which they acknowledged and said they would fix. We paid for the time on the items they did provide and Aramark supposedly zeroed and closed the account for us. Now almost half a year later we are getting calls from a collection agency about an invoice we never received, claiming we never returned the uniforms and towels. We are still fighting back and forth with the collection company and Aramark trying to get this straightened out. They know small businesses don't have the means to sue and are likely to take the hit to their credit or roll over and pay. This is a scam that should be dealt with by the Justice department.

They still charge me for the uniform every week and we have to ask for them to manually remove it from the bill because we still haven't received it.

A 10.5 ft Viper kayak (used a couple of times) and a kayak cart (still new in box). I decided to take both into Play It Again Sports. I didn't really want to deal with selling them privately on eBay (local pick up), Craigslist, or FB Marketplace. Play It Again Sports is the only place I know of to sell stuff like this other than a normal consignment shop (Stuff Etc. or a different place like that). If you are a seller they will give you cash or in store credit. The in store credit offer will be more than the cash offer. The kayak was purchased for $240ish new a few years ago. The gentlemen I was dealing with at Play It Again Sports said they'd sell it for around $100... Offered me $50 The kayak cart was purchased for $40. Was still new in box... They said they'd give me $7 If you don't mind the back and forth messages with possible buyers. People lowballing you. Having to arrange to meet someone...who may or may not show up, etc. Selling privately might be a better option for you... As far as putting the maximum amount of cash in your pocket...selling privately is definitely going to be the better way to go Like I said... I didn't want to deal with the hassle of selling these privately so I took their offer. At least it paid for dinner that night for my son and I... So you know what to expect... As a buyer you can probably plan on getting a used item for half off new retail. Maybe less if the item has been sitting for a LONG time. As a seller Play It Again Sports is probably going to sell your used item for half of new retail, and offer you half of that in cash (25%ish of new retail). It's a great resource to have to get rid of unneeded sports items. You at least get a little money back v. donating the items to Goodwill, etc. To wrap things up... I found the staff here to be polite and great to work with. I dropped in with no call ahead and the process was simple and easy. If you have sports equipment to get rid of maybe slide in and check them out... Doesn't cost you anything but time. Don't like the offer you can always say no and choose to go in another direction. If you are a parent looking to save a buck... Definitely stop in!

Can't say how happy I am with the shop. It was definitely full, but clean with great friendly service. We had a great experience!

Stopped in here to see if I could find a white dress uniform shirt for my brother (a firefighter)…read more He needed the shirt for a funeral service. The person at the front was okay...but not very personable. The manager (I assume) came out a bit later and he was a little better. On site stock was low as far as the white dress uniform shirts. Not sure if this is the case with everything... The show room itself is pretty nice. The space is clean and the available stock in the front of the store is displayed well. I'd recommend calling ahead, checking with them on available stock, and save yourself some time. and gas before heading their way..
