Extra crispy chips and nice big piece of fish were complimented by classic mushy peas and a house made tartar sauce. The service was impeccable to top things off. If you are in the area, you should definitely add this to the list of places to try.

The roast potatoes were dry, dense, and suspiciously uniform, Aunt Bessie's on an off day. Yorkshire puddings were flavourless and hollow, with that telltale mass-produced texture. Vegetables were minimal and uninspired. The lamb was unseasoned and tough. For a restaurant with The Ivy's name and reputation, this felt rushed, joyless, and deeply underwhelming. No real flavour payoff, and no sign that anyone in the kitchen had any pride in the food they send out. Feels all the more jarring given how beautiful the setting is. This was less "elegant brasserie" and more "supermarket ready-meal with better lighting". I wouldn't return for the roast -- and I wouldn't recommend it.

They did a great job getting food out across each course and everything came out hot. I ordered the filet and chips which was cooked perfectly and also had the crab and corn fritters. They were good but had very little (if any) crab meat in them... my only gripe of the night. The scotch egg was tasty and I went with my servers recommendation for the pistachio soufflé and it was excellent. Overall, our group really enjoyed the food and it was a great venue for our event.

If they had just told us when we entered that they were so hideously behind and so understaffed, we would have murmured something pleasant and left. But at least we would not be writing a bad review on Yelp. So they're dishonest on top of everything else.

I ordered one of the afternoon tea packages which came with an assortment of goods including scones, sandwiches, and petite fours. I enjoyed the scones but the sandwiches were a little bland and the petite fours were decent. Also, grabbing the waiter's attention can be a little difficult. Overall, it's good for those looking for an affordable tea option.

The room was a good size and came with all the standard amenities. There was an offer of free wifi in every room but for some reason I couldn't get it work I'm not sure whether this is a recurring issue. The TV came with the usual terrestrial channels and would have been better if there was at least a full freeview package. Sadly we didn't get to sample the food as we dined elsewhere, however the room service menu looked pretty good and not quite as expensive as I would have expected. However we did have a couple of drinks in the bar which was very pleasant. The staff were friendly and the bar had a nice atmosphere and was more sleek and stylish than your run of the mill hotel bar. My only actual complaint of the hotel was that the bed was a bit too hard. While I had no trouble sleeping, I did find it hard to relax comfortably whilst watching TV or snoozing in the morning. Overall we were very happy with the stay and in particular were very impressed with the friendly and professional nature of all staff members by whom we were served.
