Never again after the SHOCKING service experienced at the Victoria branch.
I wrote an email to resolve the issue but haven't received a reply. Please see below for our experience
Dear Team,
I am writing to inform you of the less than adequate service and hospitality my guests and I received at your Tea Terrace Branch Victoria yesterday 10th December 2017.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the Manager who did not have our booking, despite me having paid a deposit of £60. I apologised that there would now be 7 of us instead of 12 as the Snow meant travel plans for some of the guests were disturbed.
We proceeded to order 6 afternoon teas, The falafel salad with nettle tea and a pear tart with a loaded hot chocolate. Our waitress was very polite and she helped us make the choices. It all seemed to go downhill from here.
We waited a while for the teas and when they arrived the orders were incorrect. Nobody on our table had ordered cheese sandwiches and there was a tea for one entirely of cheese sandwiches. The plain scones were substituted for fruit and we had to ask twice for this to be rectified. The members of the party that had requested white chocolate and cranberry scones were given fruit scones and were told 'no this is the white chocolate' though there were no traces of either ingredient in the scones.
One of the ladies had ordered a Nettle tea and having being told you did not stock it, she asked for a camomile. She was instead given a citrus camomile tea and although she told our waitress several times it wasn't camomile, nothing seemed to move forward.
Our tea sandwich and pastries selection were delivered half of us got our drinks and the other half waited 15m before we actually received our accompanying drinks. This too, after we made the waitress aware that our order had not been fulfilled.
We were most disappointed in your Manager, Paulina, and her attitude and mannerisms towards us and her staff. There was an error on our bill and when we raised the issues, that she had added on an extra latte, she refused to come to speak to us about it. She instead sent a waitress, twice, to tell us there was no error. This was a most frustrating experience. When she eventually did come to out table, she interrupted me several times when all I was simply doing was explaining that the extra latte was incorrect.
We waited about 20minutes to pay the bill but she did not return with the card machine. She was really very rude and most hostile towards us thereafter. We were made to feel cheap and we were all appalled at the way she addressed us. It was so awful, that even one of your waitresses apologised for Paulinas manner and general demeanour towards us.
Having had a less than satisfactory experience with the service, we did indeed opt not to pay the 11% discretionary service charge. Again, instead of speaking to us and addressing the issue, as we were walking out of the establishment, we were chased by a Man in a chefs outfit. I am absolutely mortified that this seems to be acceptable behaviour. In front of other guests we were loudly told ' you havent paid your bill you cannot leave.' We then spent a painful five minutes explaining to this gentleman, who i presume is the chef that we had in fact paid the bill and were appalled at the service we received.
I am unsure why Paulina thought it above herself to come speak to us directly at any point. Moreover, she was heard making unpleasant comments about us and our table within earshot of the table. I am unsure why a man was sent chasing after us, if not for the intimidatory value?
To give credit where it is due, the food was good and we really enjoyed our scones. However, the entire experience which should have been a celebratory occasion was ruined by the less than satisfactory service we received.
The Terrace was not busy and you had three waitresses on the floor, plus Paulina, the less than adequate manager. There was perhaps 3 other small parties and we would have expected a better service.
I would like to make a formal complaint with whomever is the manager for Tea Terrace Victoria and I would also like to know how my complaint is logged and dealt with. I wish no other customer to receive such poor, unsatisfactory service from what should be reputable brand. read more
