I can't thank them enough for our amazing honeymoon. It was above and beyond anything we could have…read moredreamed. It was the perfect honeymoon. They were so patient while we made up our minds to travel and made everything so easy, offering a lot of recommendations and staying within our budget. Geri Costello was a dream travel agent. Excellence riviera cancun was a dream resort, and the honeymoon suites at the excellence club were insane! We can't wait to book another vacation next year with Janus travel. The getting to/from the airport and excursions with lomas travel was a breeze and affordable. We had no issues with the timeshare stands in the airport. Leaving can in was a bit of a mess to check in, it took about 45 min to just get checked in to give them baggage, but that wasn't an issue as we got to the airport 3 hours before we flew home. We got a free honeymoon package that we booked and showed them our marriage certificate to use. You can view the types of options on the excellence website. The resort- it's like something you see in movies. We had a private concierge for the excellence club guests, and a pool and bar area exclusively to that part of the resort. Our room was fantastic, we loved it. We arrived to fresh flowers, champagne, fresh fruit, and towel swans with rose petals on the bed. The room was huge, all the amenities (bar, TV, shower, sitting area, hammock, our door tub, and outdoor bed ) were all exactly as described. We walked onto the patio and there was a two person tub on one side (the jets didn't work, but that's ok) a bed in the shade on the other side and a hammock directly in front. There was a bed in partial shade in from of that, and fresh towels set on it every morning for swimming. The pool was 4 feet from the outdoor bed, so we could lay out and then jump in. The pools closed at 8 which was odd, but it didn't bother us too much. The room was cleaned twice a day, and we had people come to give us fruit, refill the mini bar, and put petit fours in our room every day. Our bed and shower were so comfortable, the only weird thing was a not very private toilet, it just had a glass frosted door, and you could hear everything from there, haha. We could eat breakfast as early as 7am at the private concierge if we had to leave early for an excursion at 7:45 and didn't have time to go to the breakfast buffet. The concierge would also take our large peso bills and exchange them for smaller for us. The restaurants and bars were great, and we had no trouble getting drinks by the pool. The drinks were delicious, and so was the food. The weather was perfect every single day, cooler in the morning, very hot in the afternoon (so we'd swim and tan) and cooler but breezy and wonderful by 6-7 at night. The beach had some seaweed but they cleaned it up every day and honestly didn't bother us in the ocean. (Which is typical for that part of Mexico and Geri let us know about in advance). They had fun activities and shows every night, and we loved the Mayan show and the Mexican fiesta night. On our last night we went to an all white themed dinner buffet on the beach lit up by lanterns and with live music. We upgraded our honeymoon dinner on the beach from the honeymoon package for $200 for a private dinner on the pier, and the pier right next to it had a harp player on it throughout our private fancy dinner. The champagne and wine was plentiful and the service was amazing. He even took some pictures of us on the pier which was so nice. We used our honeymoon hydrotherapy and foot massage spa treatment and upgraded to add a 25 min couples back massage. It was so relaxing and the spa beautiful. The service everywhere on the resort was incredible. We took excursions with lomas travel (recommended by Geri) to akumal to swim/snorkel with sea turtles and see an a over ground/open cenote, a trip sailing on a catamaran to isla mujeres and snorkel at the underwater museum of art, and a trip to chichen itza and an ecopark with a cenote and lunch included. 3 trips in 7 days was plenty. We explored playa del Carmen on our own one afternoon. I always felt safe, the only annoyance was the vendors who could be a bit pushy and follow you around the store- but My husband was good at bartering and deflecting them. It was amazing and perfect. We will use them again. Top notch work Janus travel!

This agency is incompetent to say the least! I could have done better if I had booked it myself and had way less stress!! They do not return calls or emails. They changed my original agent to another because the first was "too busy" to reply. This is a $10k trip with a 2 bedroom suite on a cruise and they couldn't be bothered to follow up or give me reminders of upcoming payment dates. Instead they called me the day before the balance was due and said we need it now. I had to email several times to get airfare booked as prices were just going higher and higher, that took a month for them to book! Finally after being fed up, I got thru to them this morning and asked them to release my reservations so I could make changes it to it myself as it would be faster. My dog sitter fell thru so I needed to change the flight day out to LA, it cost me $200 with the airlines to do so because they did not release my reservations. They told me thats not their problem it's an airline rule. I am still currently working with the cruise line to take them off my reservations as well. I had to hang up the phone as Mike was literally yelling at me into the phone. I could go on and on with the horrible details but bottom line....they are rude, incompetent, ignorant to their clients needs and basically think they are doing you a favor by taking on your travel needs. Please do not use this agency!

There was a nationwide power outage from the time we arrived which lasted several days. Fortunately our hotel had a generator and fuel to run it so we were never without electricity and AC. The hotel service was exemplary, and food was good. Some venues on the itinerary were not open but our director adjusted the schedule and made substitutions as needed so we still had very full days of activities. On evenings when we were on our own for dinner, he found restaurants that were open, and arranged taxis to transport us. The lectures were incredible - highly educated and knowledgeable presenters. The director offered to arrange a doctor's visit when I wasn't feeling well and followed up to ensure I was OK when I chose not to go. He always alerted us to any safety concerns. Our local guide gave us so much information on Cuban history and culture, she was always cheerful and upbeat despite the very long days. Our driver was the best, careful and skilled in getting the bus through what seemed impossibly tight lanes. All in all it was a special, amazing experience.

GOOD BAD AND THE UGLY.- Peru and Amazon River: AHI has good qualities and I've been a Travel…read moreInsider with them and seen the good.... but when it comes to the bad it gets ugly fast. Turns out AHI has many complaints about poor airline connections and failure to book critical connections. I always book my own direct flights so that I don't miss a critical time connection. AHI DOESN'T SHARE THAT SAME CONCERN. I should have realized that there was a need to disregard the "guide" and go get a connection on my own if I wanted to be able to enjoy the Delfin III Amazon River Cruise as contracted for. Instead like a responsible traveler (aka AHI FOOL) I believed AHI and UCLA Alumni would make sure our group was allowed a "make up" of some sort due to the AHI planning failure. Here's what happened, during the Wonders of Peru adventure that planned for us to travel from Cusco to Lima and then on to Iquitos airport for the connection to the Delfin III Amazon River Cruise was doomed to fail. AHI - as MANY people have found, does NOT plan to benefit the traveler. AHI plans for its cheap fares and knowledge that it won't pay out if you miss a major portion of your travel. AHI Wants to defer to your travel insurance or that you'll give up. Instead of booking the first flight out ---or even planning a flight the night before, the later cheap flight was delayed ----first flight on ground can fly out even if fog and flights in are delayed or cancelled......after the delayed flight gets cancelled AHI tells passengers that they CAN NOT book their own transport to get to the River Cruise on time...... So after 1/2 day of waiting at the airport and then hours again on a bus to a 2nd rate hotel, OH and we have to pay for our own lunch back in Cusco --- cuz we are not enjoying the 5start cruise fare....then back to Lima and another hour bus to hotel in Mira Flores which we are later told compensates for the lost Amazon River Cruise. BS, Total BS........sure there is another hours long bus out to some site in Peru (not on mine or other list of "to see or do"......but hey it was something they tell us so be grateful. Then hours more on bus, waiting , etc. bus, waiting, bus, etc. and that's just the problems with Missing a MAJOR AMAZON RIVER CRUISE, not to mention the that instead of Machu Picchu Circuit 3B and not the 2A or B promised and even then the local guide, while good , did not keep the stories or timing right so the tour was CUT SHORT and did not even get to see and walk ALL OF THE 3B CIRCUIT. Such a disappointment. Needless to say out of a cost for the cruise (about $4,400 per person --next year $5200) AHI offers compensation of $500... WOW just WOW. AHI Travel is supposed to be knowledgeable and experienced and instead they book cheap with a "don't give a damn about the traveler" when time is of the essence for a connection. NEXT STOP is to file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General since that is state headquarters for AHI Travel. ALSO, ALL ALUMNI GROUPS SHOULD LOOK AT CONNECTIONS AND HANDLING OF THESE ISSUES BY AHI...... Northern California solo traveler had over 16 hr flight with 2 or 3 connections.....from home. to Miami and Lima OH, did I mention, there were 2 suites on the boat available for the next cruise (as our board had sailed) and after emails, calls, and some hard pressure we were able to get 2 couples (via lottery) who could extend their stay the opportunity to get those 2 empty suites with the next cruise group....... flight ,connection, cruise paid by AHI .......but NOPE FOR THE REST OF THE GROUP!.....AHI said the cruise was nonrefundable so it couldn't provide a voucher for what was missed... only offer $500 with AHI in 2027 for travel and $500 for compensation of loss...... ALUMNI GROUPS TAKE NOTICE!!!! I'm definitely notifying my Traveling Irish from Notre Dame about this and ALL the other University affiliations that I share with family and friends.

This company does not go by its word. I have spent three long and stressful months going back in forth with a travel agent. The customer service is horrendous; the office hours are very short, and even on their open hours, they do not pick up the phone. The travel agent I have spoken with was incredibly rude towards me. He was not concerned about the customer's wishes, and overall not professional. They promised to purchase a ticket package for my family, but the deal is way too good to be true. Once I finalized my purchase and sent them my credit card information, they stalled for a whole month to make the transaction. After numerous attempts at trying to pay for my tickets, the travel agent failed to complete the transaction by the deadline date and I lost the opportunity to buy them. After wasting months of precious time, ticket prices were way too expensive and it was too late for our family of six to buy tickets. Even after trying to work a solution out with the company, they deny that it's their fault and will not take responsibility for their actions. Basically, don t waste your time on this company. It may sound like a stellar deal for their ticket prices, but they won't actually complete the transaction. I repeat, do not do business with them. It will be a horrendous experience
