I've been working with Francisco for about 6 months. I am 14 months postpartum from my second child and wanted to return to feeling strong and confident in my body. Francisco has been wonderful. He is a very knowledgable trainer, who is also very thoughtful about the way he approaches each session. He balances being extremely personable with just the right amount of pressure and witty sarcasm to keep you motivated. I have consistently become stronger with every week and am starting to see physical results that I'm confident will maintain. I'll be back to give another in 6 months once I have more progress! read more

My husband and I signed up for weekly couple's training sessions with Francisco as part of our New Year activity. What we didn't realize was how much he would change our personal fitness life for the better. Francisco is not only knowledgeable and experienced as a trainer, but he is also a fun and engaging individual. He emphasizes challenging yourself, but taught us to recognize our limitations to avoid injuries. He reminded us that there are plenty other ways to target a muscle group rather than focusing on one specific exercise. We genuinely looked forward to our sessions with him. I now feel confident at the gym, thanks to Francisco. Whether you're a newbie to the fitness world or an experienced gym-goer, I would highly recommend Francisco. read more

I've been working with Francisco for more than four years, which speaks volumes about the value of his coaching and my satisfaction with his approach. He focuses on functional, full-body strength training and consistently introduces new exercises and routines to keep workouts engaging and effective. I especially appreciate that he teaches clients practical workouts they can do on their own at home or while traveling, making it easier to stay consistent between sessions. Francisco is knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely invested in his clients' success. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for an exceptional personal trainer. read more

I cannot recommend Francisco enough! I started training with him in the lead-up to my wedding in 2022, and lost 25 pounds and got in shape for my big day. Since then I've continued training with him twice a week -- and it remains one of the best decisions I have made for my health and well-being. Francisco is a knowledgeable and motivated trainer who cares about you and your fitness goals. When I first started with him, he created a tailored workout program for me and helped me with my diet and nutrition. When I travel over the holidays and for work, he helps me with workouts I can do while I travel to keep my progress. Francisco is friendly, easy to chat with, and creates a comfortable environment for his clients. If you're looking for a personal trainer who will hold you accountable, meet you where you are, and genuinely care about your success, Francisco is absolutely it! read more

My wife and I have been working with Francisco for 6 months and I can really see and feel the difference. I am stronger, have more energy and my posture and stability are much improved. I started training with Francisco six months ago to tone up and take my fitness to the next level after having two kids. I was in decent shape but wanted to push myself further. The results have been incredibly --I feel stronger, more toned and now truly understand (and see!) the benefits of strength training. Francisco is not just a skilled trainer; he's an all-around great person. He creates challenging but achievable workouts, always pays attention to form, and genuinely celebrates your progress. He's supportive, motivating, and deeply committed to his clients' success, making the entire process both effective and enjoyable. If you're looking for a trainer who delivers serious results while being your biggest cheerleader, Francisco is your guy! read more

Francisco is great. He really cares about his clients and customizes training to their needs. Conscientious and makes the time pass!

I'd never set foot in a gym or lifted weights, other than some 3 lb dumbbells for physical therapy. I'd never been into exercise for exercise's sake, but 2 kids and remote work had turned me into a middle aged potato, and I just didn't want to feel weak and out of shape anymore. I signed my husband and I up for duos sessions with Francisco less than 6 months ago and the change in my body, energy levels and mood have been incredible. Francisco spends the full hour with us each time zipping back and forth, tailoring the workouts to our ability and energy. He always checks our form and adjusts for injuries. He switches up the workouts all the time so it's never boring, always challenging. He will also teach you how to work the same parts with simple home equipment, and helps you feel confident using gym equipment anywhere you go. As others have said he's fun to chat with and keeps his well equipped studio spotless. This is one of the best gifts I've ever given myself! read more

This review is long overdue! I trained with Francisco from June 2022 to Septemeber 2023 in preparation for my wedding. My goals were to lose my pandemic weight (about 20 lb) and build stronger habits around nutrition and exercise. Francisco was an amazing trainer who helped me achieve my goals while also giving great, practical advice on how to be healthier in my 30s. I have trained with personal trainers before and have been disappointed with their approach (they would be a drill sergeant rather than a guide and teacher). Francisco will meet you where you are in terms of your physical abilities and keep track of your progress so you can celebrate your personal milestones. He also gives great advice on what will get you the results you are looking for. I'm grateful I started training with Francisco early so that I could lose the weight over a longer period and walk away with a strong foundation of how to train on my own. Thank you, Francisco! read more

I had already been an avid exerciser before starting to train with Francisco, but with my wedding coming up in a few months and my own workouts and progress starting to plateau, I needed a solution to look and feel my best and strongest for my wedding day! Francisco is a true professional. I came with specific goals in mind and showed him some photos of where I'd ultimately love to be physically. He took that feedback and structured our workouts to train those specific areas. He kept things fresh and my body guessing and I never got sick of the exercises. Since training with him, he has up-leveled my strength training knowledge, challenged my body in new ways, pushed me out of my comfort zone, encouraged me to maintain discipline with my diet and workouts outside of the studio, and well...... the results and progress pictures speak for themselves! I have never felt stronger and more confident in my own physical abilities and I'm not stopping here! The cherry on top is that Francisco always has a smile on his face and unwavering positive attitude and I look forward to training with him each week. If you are looking to get in shape either for your wedding (he loves training brides!!) or in general, don't look elsewhere. Note that this is not a silver bullet and you WILL need to be disciplined outside of your time with him in the studio as well as "do your homework". But if you bring the heart, dedication, and commitment to bettering yourself, Francisco will get you there. read more

When I started training with Francisco, my goals included jump starting my workout and meal routine and shedding the weight that had glommed on during the pandemic. I was low on motivation, inspiration and unfortunately was a bit injured and stiff from lack of exercise. This was no way to greet my next birthday milestone! Francisco listened, was understanding, patient but firm with his training. As a former runner, I was bummed about being unable to run due to an injured knee and hip. Still, that was no excuse and Francisco challenged me to maintain a daily brisk walk and assigned a weekly home exercise routine. He reviewed my food log and gave valuable advice. He also worked with me to stretch and mend my injuries. I am happy to say that after 7 months, I'm back to a healthy cardio, strength and nutrition routine thanks in great part to Francisco! I've shed the weight, my injuries are improving, and I've increased my muscle mass. All these changes feel good! In these challenging times with all the craziness this world keeps doling out, it's nice to have a friend like Francisco in your corner. He's a great listener, a fantastic trainer and best of all a caring friend! read more

I started training with Francisco a few months ago with the goal to get fit and healthy. The timing just so happened to also coincide with my upcoming wedding. Francisco is very knowledgable and also knows what types of exercises to do to target specific areas of the body. He knows the right balance of providing you with challenging exercises, but also reminding you to listen to your body. He is also great about making sure you are doing things in the correct form to prevent any sort of injury. After just a few weeks of training and staying disciplined with my diet, I was feeling stronger and seeing changes in my muscle mass. Even now, I am still seeing changes and look forward to seeing even more progress as I continue with my training. I always look forward to my weekly sessions with Francisco. His positive and encouraging attitude helps you stay motivated and focused. It also makes training fun, even when it's challenging! Francisco has a good heart and it shows in the way he puts so much care and effort into helping his clients get strong and be their best. He expects his clients to work hard outside of sessions with him and rightfully so. He gives you the tools, but it's ultimately your choice how you want to use them. If you are willing to do the work, and have Francisco by your side, you will see the results. For anyone looking to feel stronger, upgrade their health, or get in shape, I highly recommend connecting with Francisco - a great trainer and a good friend. read more

Francisco is a great trainer. I hired in March for my September wedding and he helped me kick it into gear. He gave me such a great foundation with weight training, conditioning and stretching that even post-wedding I'm keeping my a 4-5 day/week gym schedule. I feel and look the best I have in years. If you need a reboot or some motivation to kick start your health journey, get yourself some Francisco in your life, you won't regret it. Best money I've ever spent. read more

I started out with Francisco last August in preparation for my wedding. Little did I know he would help change my life! I had gained a lot of weight, slowly but surely, over the course of 2 years. I started out with him twice a week and keeping a daily food log. Within 2 or so months, I had lost 8 pounds and was so motivated to keep going! Over the following months together, he helped me learn that I'm capable of becoming stronger -- both physically and mentally. He was always extremely enthusiastic, encouraging, and warm (which definitely made the 6 am wake up easier). It honestly felt like I was working out with a trusted friend. My outlook on food and exercise has completely changed as a result of my time with him. I now feel a hundred times better than I did last year, and have Francisco to thank entirely for it! read more

I found Francisco when preparing for my wedding. It had been postponed from summer of 2020 to 2021 due to COVID. In the meantime I, like many others, put on a decent amount of COVID weight. I originally got in touch w/Francisco in December of 2020 but didn't start training with him until April of 2021 because of my concerns w/the winter COVID surge. This gave me about 3 months to train with Francisco before my July wedding. I trained with him twice a week and made significant progress to the point that my dress seamstress became frustrated due to the need for constant alterations/sizing down :). I was very happy with where I got to before the wedding and have continued training with Francisco to this day. What I like about training with Francisco: He works with your comfort level and doesn't push you to do anything unsafe or to do exercises you truly hate. This doesn't mean that you're not pushed out of your comfort zone, but he strikes the balance between challenging you and not de-motivating you. I also like that the exercise is focused on building muscle and toning rather than the number on the scale. When it comes to food advice, he also follows your lead. It's annoying when trainers pretend to be nutritionists, but Francisco doesn't do that. He only asks if you're feel like doing food logs if you want to, and even when doing then he isn't too prescriptive or into food shaming. He provides gentle and doable suggestions and recommendations. I appreciate this since I've found some trainers can have unhealthy and extreme attitudes and advice around food. It also doesn't hurt that Francisco is friendly and fun to chat with. I also appreciate that he tries to be flexible with his schedule when I need to reschedule (within reason). I have gained a considerable amount of strength, and look forward to continuing to train with him. Great working with you! read more

When I started training with Francisco, I was only 2 months out from my wedding and was quite behind with my wedding fitness goals! He customized my training based on my individual needs and made sure I had plenty of exercises that I could do on my own - so I could build up a consistent routine. He also helped with building a more disciplined nutrition plan, guiding me on ways to minimize some of the more unhealthy eating habits I had picked up over the years. He truly goes above and beyond with his brides-to-be - highly recommend Francisco if you're looking to get wedding-ready or even if you're just looking to change up your everyday life to incorporate better exercise & eating habits! read more

Like so many people during SIP, I was unable to escape the dreaded "quarantine 15". On top of the happy relationship pounds I'd gained since college, I decided enough was enough and went to see Francisco for a consultation in January since I wanted to get ready for a big family wedding. 4 months later, 14 pounds lighter, and almost 9 inches of total body fat lost, I've regained the strength and confidence in my body that I thought I'd lost and finally feel like my life is back on track! I never thought I'd be in any sort of financial position to be able to hire a personal trainer, but Francisco's affordable training session package was just what I needed to stop making excuses and get back in shape. Francisco's easy-going attitude and motivating (but never pushy) words of encouragement and advice was exactly what I needed and kept me going throughout my 22 sessions. He's not just interested in helping you look good on the outside. He cares deeply about making sure any existing injuries are properly addressed and works hard to make sure no new ones crop up during the training regimen. For years I've experienced chronic pain in my left shoulder. Francisco showed me specific stretches and exercises to help alleviate the pain...so much so that now I barely feel it unless I've been very bad and hunched over a screen all day! He also focused on exercises that would help strengthen my body for getting back into running when I told him that was one of my goals. I know Francisco wants to be known as The Bride Trainer (his arm workouts are killer!), but to me he is that and so much more. He really listens to your needs and helps you set realistic goals. It won't be easy...you have to show up, do the homework, and EAT CLEAN!! (Side note: this was not something I was originally willing to do, but Francisco made me realize that diet is truly half the battle). If you are willing to give it your all, just for a few months, Francisco will help you realize your pre-covid, ultimate wedding, revenge body goals! Lol I would recommend him over and over again. Francisco, thank you so much for everything!! read more

Francisco is absolutely the BEST PERSONAL TRAINER! I signed up for Francisco in September of 2019, and in the year and a half since then, I've lost 18 pounds, 12" overall, and three pant sizes. I look forward to my training sessions. Francisco is friendly, funny, and always encouraging; he makes me feel strong and can motivate me even when I don't feel like working out. He knows how to push me to achieve my best but makes sure to spend plenty of time stretching to avoid injury. So grateful for Francisco and The Training Zone Studio! read more

I trained with Francisco to prepare to be a bridesmaid in my friend's fall wedding. For four months, I trained twice a week and became stronger, leaner and more confident in myself and my abilities. Francisco is an incredibly supportive trainer who partners with you to meet your fitness goals by tackling all aspects of it at once: diet, exercise and attitude. He accommodated my injuries and sore areas by incorporating corrective exercises and body work which was incredibly important to me -- I valued having a trainer that listened to me when I said something hurt or felt strained rather than pushing me beyond reasonable limits towards injury. I encourage anyone looking for a dedicated and energetic trainer to work with Francisco. He'll be encouraging but will also push you past your comfort zone when he knows you have it in you. Plus, he's always got a kick-ass workout playlist ready for you! Thanks, Francisco! read more

I've been booking sessions for two years now at this studio. I don't prefer group workouts and having a personal training session at a busy gym can be distracting; worse when others are holding up equipment. At Francisco's studio, you get all the attention and expertise that integrates nicely with a mix of traditional weights, cardio equipment, TRX, resistance bands and more. He keeps workouts fun, informational and purpose-driven; designed around each individual. I need to mention, for runners out there, that like most I often neglect to work on flexibility, core and strength exercises. in 2014 I ran the SF marathon and pretty much spiraled out of shape due to a number of post-race related issues. In 2015 Francisco helped take me from being completely out of shape to running and exercising again. He quickly found areas of weakness and even two years later continues to help me work on them. The reminders from his personal training sessions are critical to keep my overall shape up along with running frequently again. Can't recommend Francisco enough! read more

Francisco is brilliant. I started working with him after a semi-lengthy period of medical stuff had kept me from being as active as I'd like. He immediately made me feel welcome, positive and stoked. He helped me fix my eating, kicked my ass at the gym, made adjustments when my knees ached or my back got stiff and remained positive, upbeat, supportive, smart and funny. He's totally on your side, the whole way. I got stronger, fitter, better. I lost 10-12 pounds, getting down to a weight I haven't been in thirty years, and there's possibility that I may actually see my abs at some point shortly (there have been sightings). I was able to surf a board under 7 feet for the first time ever, cycle further faster and generally feel good about the whole thing. I'd kill for the guy. Seriously. read more

This review is long overdue! I started training with Francisco on 6/1/16 and he has changed my life. I sought out Francisco's expertise after seeing myself in a photo and I was appalled at home much weight I'd gained. I knew I needed to change my lifestyle immediately. Not gonna lie, I wanted to cry after every session but Francisco remained positive an enthusiastic that I could do the workouts if I remained consistent. In my head I told myself, "I can't f****** do that?!" whenever Francisco showed me a new routine. 'Can't' slowly became ," yes, I CAN f****** do this!!" I now work out 5 days a week, walk to the gym and eat so much better because of Francisco. The first 4 months I trained with him, I set a goal to lose 20lbs before I got married. I lost 22lbs within 3 months. If you're ready to make a change, make sure to book with him-he's worth it! read more

It's time to update my review of The Training Zone. If I could give the proprietor Francisco Nieves ten stars, I would. The Training Zone is a place for everyone, from athletes in top-notch condition to older folks like myself who want to improve their range of motion, gain strength and challenge themselves in a welcoming and supportive environment. Francisco is a positive, high energy person with the knowledge, sincere interest and dedication to help you reach your goals and have fun in the process read more

I am so grateful to Francisco for helping me rehabilitate my lower back injury and also just get back into healthy consistent habits in general. Not only is he a knowledgable trainer, he truly cares about you, your progress, and your overall well being. The gym is a perfect space for personal training because it's always clean, has all the necessary equipment to have a dynamic workout every time, and I loved how private it felt. I was not self conscious whatsoever and could give it my all, and it actually made a difference being able to have open conversations and really get to know Francisco as a person and friend. After getting to know him over 5 months, I can vouch that he is an incredibly honest, hardworking, genuine business owner (on top of being a great trainer that always challenged me) and I would happily choose him over some dude trainer in a mainstream gym any day. Here are some of the many reasons I think he's worth every penny: -meticulous about form -educates you about your body/muscles and how they relate to each other and the exercises you're doing -shows you how to properly recover and incorporates it throughout training -guides on health and nutrition while being realistic -takes videos of you to show you exercises you've done and in good form, of course -sends a report of all the exercises you did to be able to refer back to -flexible/accommodating on scheduling -is always improving his own skills and knowledge -positive and supportive attitude ALWAYS Francisco, it has truly been a pleasure and I look forward to continuing workouts with you! read more

If I could give more stars I would. I've never been to a personal trainer and I dislike exercise, but after losing 40 pounds with just diet I needed to add in exercise to tighten up loose skin and to help with the last 15-20 pounds to goal. Mission accomplished! I definitely would leave the sessions a trembling quivering mess knowing I'd gotten a workout in. Francisco will push your limits in an encouraging way. You need to do your homework...it won't all happen in one session a week. After 1 year I feel stronger and more motivated to keep going so for that I thank you! My health and well being has been worth every penny and every sore muscle. #atricepisborn read more

First off, do not hesitate in committing yourself to training at the Training Zone Studio... if you're ready to lose weight or get your entire body or particular muscle groups toned, look no further! This is the place for it! Here's the quick of it: I did a 24 session program over about 2.5- 3 months before my wedding day, and lost 17.4 pounds, and 16.75 inches overall! I looked my best for my wedding day, everyone was impressed! And I'm so glad I did it at the Training Zone with Francisco, because he definitely played a huge role in getting me to not only reach my goals, but the results of my body and athleticism at the end of our sessions totally exceeded my expectations! Here's all of the details: I started training at this studio with Francisco in the beginning of February 2015 to get in shape for my big day, my wedding, which was going to take place at the end of May 2015! Honestly, I didn't know exactly what to expect out of myself, especially never having been to a personal trainer before. But I knew several things about myself: 1) I enjoy athletic activities-- running, commuter biking ~6.5 miles 2-3x a week, doing random hiking excursions and sporadic commitments to pilates/yoga/bikram packages in the past, etc., 2) that I'm pretty good at putting my mind to something when I'm passionate, 3) that I love eating gourmet food but that I was open-minded to the idea of showing some restraint when it comes down to it to get the results that I want. I also arrived at his studio knowing that I had some weight to lose (I was kind of just thinking 10 pounds or so would be nice) in order to feel and look amazing on my wedding day, especially since I am a female ~5 feet tall so weight shows more easily on my body. When I came in on a Saturday morning for my first complimentary assessment, I quickly realized that Francisco had all the working tools-- equipment, personality, and knowledge to make me feel like I could reach the goals we were striving for in the 18 session program we had originally planned. We set our goal for me to lose about 10-15 pounds and made plans for certain amounts of inches lost from particular parts of my body and overall. During the assessment we did some practice routines, and my body was sore and achy the next day, so I knew I had come to the right place. Furthermore, Francisco also gave me the added bonus of a Bride Discount, which made the deal even sweeter! We did two training sessions (about an hour long, sometimes longer) per week for 18 sessions, and then I was so addicted to his sessions (they were fun, motivational, challenging, and definitely showing results) that I wanted to continue to 24 sessions up until about the week before my wedding! Francisco was great about accommodating days/weeks when I could not go because of other obligations, and we easily figured out ways to reschedule it to a different day or miss/make up for it later. I also had a couple random health/sports injuries, and we would work around them or he even went out of his way to help treat it (with conservative methods of iced water, ofc, but it worked like a charm... better than if I was left to my own devices!) Also it's important to note that he is very receptive and sensitive to his clients needs/requests. He was also great about hearing about my random wedding drama and being not only understanding but also supportive and motivational. And I never felt like our sessions were cookie-cutter. We used a lot of different techniques and equipment to slim down and shape my body to get it to where it is. About half way in I decided I wanted to also target my abs for my future honeymoon hawaii trip, and he helped us switch gears to make sure to focus on that too. I now have a very subtle 4 pack... it was definitely not like that before I started with him, much more dough-y. When it comes down to it, while Francisco is a 5/5-star trainer, he's not waving some magic wand here and then *poof*, the fat is gone and you've got a six-pack and no love handles or droopy arm fat. A large part of the effort comes from within YOU too, and you have to meet him halfway if you want to succeed. You should do your best to listen to what he says about doing the food logs to keep track of what you're eating, listen to his advice on how to eat clean and healthy, and don't overindulge on your "cheat foods"/alcohol, and try to get in as much cardio (both at his studio and on your own) as you can in between sessions, because all of those things combined will get you the results you want to see and enjoy! I'm still enjoying the results (about a month later) and have continued to shed a couple more pounds of fat and firmed up, because I'm using the tools that he taught me. I could go on forever about how top-notch my experience was here... I really don't think this will be the last time I'll be at this studio! There's always working on my six pack, shedding baby fat or training for a tri- in my foreseeable future! read more

I just completed 12 sessions with Francisco. He is as good as it gets. He is very knowledgeable about fitness. He has a warm, engaging style and he really cares about the people he works with. He encouraged and inspired me to push myself. He was a flexible teacher, if one approach didn't work he would try something else. He works with all ages, teens through folks in their late 70's. He is an extraordinarily kind person, and that combined with his expertise about strength building and general fitness, makes him an ideal personal trainer and super star. After years of frustration, Francisco was the first person who could hold me accountable and keep my attention long enough for me to see results. I started in January, went 2x week until the beginning of April, and lost 15lbs. Jeans and dresses that haven't fit me in years fit me again.. I still have a ways to go and had to put a pause on my training with Francisco for financial reasons, but he has taught me that I CAN DO IT if I am consistent.. Francisco at The Training Zone is an incredible trainer!! By far my favorite trainer I've ever worked out with. I found Francisco in my search for a trainer in efforts to get in shape for my 2019 wedding. I have been working out with Francisco for about 5 months ranging from 1x per week to 3x per week depending on my schedule, which he is very accommodating of. I have seen great results. Not only am I more in shape and overall look better, but my overall health physically and mentally is much better. Francisco really encourages me to take care of myself. He gives so much positive energy to all of his clients. He is always warm and friendly. I always look forward to going to see him. When it comes to the workouts, he is always changing them up, so it never becomes repetitive. He also takes injury recovery and prevention very seriously. We do a lot of stretching before and after workouts, which really helps my body as I sit at a computer all day long. When I first saw Francisco I was having chronic, hip and back pains- which are now completely alleviated. Overall, I couldn't say enough great things about Francisco. Do yourself a favor and workout with him!! read more

These reviews barely come close to explain how great The Training Zone and Francisco are. I was just walking the neighborhood with my dog one day and passed by the Zone and glanced inside. It's a small and intimate gym with just two people on average. That immediately caught my eye. The privateness of it all. I yelped it and got totally amped up by the ratings and reviews that I had to email him for information. Told him I needed to make a change in my physical and mental life. He was totally understanding and immediately got me excited to begin. I got six sessions and learned so much! The food logs were tough but definitely put my intake into major perspective and made me realize I need to be more attentive. Every time I came he was always in the BEST mood it immediately put me in a good mood if I already wasn't or a better mood if I was. He truly cares about not only your body and what it can and cannot do but also your personal life and sees the good in a person. I learned I had some back issues and he tended to them and taught me exercises and stretches to help alleviate most of the pain. He sends videos of yourself doing exercises to do at home as homework which helped with the correct form and counts when you are not able to be in the gym. That was very helpful. I really enjoyed my time at the Zone but unfortunately my schedule and work started to invade any free time to dedicate to my sessions, so I couldn't complete the full training of more than 6 sessions. I was starting to see results too. My arm wings were starting to fade. If you want a comfortable environment, supportive instructor, and a challenge mentally and physically with awesome music playing, Francisco is your spot. Hopefully in the future I'll be able to train again with him. xo read more

I cannot say enough good things about Training Zone and Francisco specifically! The studio is beautiful and well equipped, we targeted specific areas that I struggled with on my own. Francisco is passionate about setting you up for success and taught me routines that I could do at home to help ease the transition back to not having a personal trainer. I highly recommend Training Zone and the joy and energy Francisco has to offer! read more

Francisco is the bomb!! I knew right away - like in my first trial session with him that he was what I needed and wanted to achieve my goals: someone who is conscientious about safety and stretching but able to push me with exercises that not only keep me interested but help me achieve the results I want. He is cheerful and encouraging and honest. He keeps things real with food journaling and accountability practices. I have lost over 16 lbs so far as well as getting so much more toned. I am thrilled and highly recommend this guy. Check him out, sign up, commit to working hard and you won't be disappointed!! read more
