I like how they have good selections on good vinyl records and old school music and a track tapes and video games and lots of retro stuff good service and good prices and lots of books series video games Nintendo's Atari, etc.. Will continue to go here and visit the store but they need to get their communication together when you email them for item I had no response back but all the way up into the store today in order to be tall that my items were not in the condition that they want them to be but I won't be returning without the things to sell there they just need to get their communication together with the new guy that they have in their cabin Kevin Kevin and Pete should hopefully be around next time I go to visit hopefully next time I will have a more better enjoyable experience always old stuff there before never an issue look forward to future business again read more

This review is based primarily on their online sales. This company offers items on eBay, OfferUp and Craigslist. This is a great store! They offer some of the best and most difficult-to-find items at very reasonable prices. I've actually bookmarked their online stores because of some of the items that they've offered. You would be surprised at the selection of new and vintage tech merchandise that they offer. However, they also have a large and ever-changing selection of all different types of goods (e.g., new and vintage clothing, toys, electronics, music/video, home and garden, hunting, household items, etc.). The customer service is very good too. The brick-and-mortar location actually buys items and then resells them in-store or online. I know that some people would like to sell their items for far more than they are worth or risk the long wait to sell them online. Stores like this buy items and then resell them. Instead of waiting for someone to buy it online, you can offer it here. In fact, the store has a YouTube channel that shows much of what they do. I appreciate the honesty and transparency! Overall, I am very impressed by this store. During my next trip to the Chicago area, I plan on visiting the shop in-person and rummage through the treasures. Who knows what I will find? read more

They posted an item for sale online. I replied that I was interested. They gave me their address and I responded that I was on my way and would be there in less than 30 minutes. I drive from a couple of towns over and when I arrive he says he sold the item. Thanks for wasting my time and gas. Luckily for me, the item was missing parts and complete junk anyway... which is certainly concerning when considering buying other items they have for sale. I have always wanted to stop in and check out this small business but didn't even bother to look around after experiencing their lack of professionalism and problematic merchandise. read more

These guys are straight shooters. They're not brokers nor a pawn shop. Just an upstanding resale shop. They pay upfront, giving you half of what they expect to get from selling your unwanted goods. They overpay, as far as I'm concerned. I've done quite a few transactions with them; dumping off my cordless tools when I see something bright and shiny and new. Always fair. Always honest. Really love this shop and the guy's show. He's extremely transparent and up front about his prices as you could see from his posted videos. People that come in here are expecting so much and so unreasonable that it's literally comedy. I have seen hundreds of his transactions firsthand, and I'm always surprised how much they (the store) actually pay, the manager (I think his name is Pete) there is very honest and gives generous offers, more often I believe he overpays for things other shops wouldn't bother with. I freaking love this place. Huge, ever-changing selection of everything imaginable. From cds and dvds to motorcycles to household appliances. I have spent hundreds of dollars of this place and never encountered anything but politeness and honesty out of the guys who run this place. This is the best, most eclectic pawnshop that you'll find in the Chicagoland area. I am hesitant to even calling upon shop, I was calling it a pawnshop as that a bad connotation. I have had to pawn 3 things in my life and I unfortunately chose here, the guy that is always behind the counter is Rude and not at all in it for the customer. They don't negotiate and they bottom dollar you, LIKE BOTTOM dollar. I would recommend any other place then this. They really should look into getting better people! read more

Ignore the low reviews that are just upset that they didn't get enough money or the guys working there were rude. It's a business. They are in it to make something. They are not going to pay retail to sell it at a loss so you can be happy. Expect to get around 1/2 to 1/3 if you have some good items. Otherwise do the work yourself and don't waste their time. If you like unique stuff go there and check it out often. Always something new, and they will give you a deal. Bad aroma in store and bad customer service. When a bad review is given they argue with the customer.

CALLED ahead told them I had a sewing machine in a cabinet and was told $75 to $100. When I drove over there they first guy saw it and said he could offer even more. Then another guy came from the back they told me that they don't buy machines in the cabinet. I posted a review on Facebook and the owner proceeded to argue with me in long conversations. I went to buy a dirt bike from here after seeing in ad online. I put a deposit in and was to come back in a few days with the rest of the money and to pick up the dirt bike. I had a mist-fortune happen so I needed the deposit money back, when I told the man that sold it to me he refused to give me anything. So his manager came and said he would not give me all my money, that he was going to keep 50 dollars because I put a deposit in and now I wanted it back. I yelled at both of them over 10 minutes explaining how there was never anything said about a fee of this sort, or anything signed about any fee if I didn't follow through with the purchase. They are no signs indicating this in the store neither. I walked out of there 25 bucks short after being tired of arguing with unlawful manager and employees. The Trading Post has poor salesmanship. The 1st time i made purchased at The Trading Post i bought a cigarette injector machine. The 2 sales men reassured me the item is brand new. They spoke to me like they knew all about this item. And convinced me it's a great buy. So i bought this item in a week i had lots of problems with it. Later on i look on E Bay this item is missing parts and is broken at stem. I tried to return it. They don't honor their items they sell. You live and learn by your costly mistakes.
