What a cute shop with high quality stuff! They've got hair and body and face glitter sets, crafts of all kinds, games of all kinds and gag gifts. They sell real frogs that was surprising and service was great. read more

Pretty expensive but the people were really nice and kind. The toys are mostly for kids but there are some for teens.

We just had the best experience. We are visiting from Portland while trying to escape the dangerous wildfire smoke back home. Shopping in this store made us feel some sense of normalcy in a very turbulent time. Their covid protocols are great, we felt safe the whole time. The lady working at the store (maybe the owner?) was very helpful in finding what we were looking for, and her background in education helped us make a great choice for my one year old son. Bonus! The shop dog, Luke, is the sweetest pup you'll ever meet! He loves babies and didn't want to let us leave his side. We'll likely pop in again before heading home. read more

Nice place. The owner was very helpful and friendly. I was looking for a birthday present for a one year old and found a cute wooden puzzle and squishy soft stuffed penguin. They have a HUGE wall of stuffed animals and a wide selection of baby toys. I also got excited about the snowboarding and skiing dolls and action figures they had, but they were too big to fit my already tight luggage so I had to skip on those. read more

My daughter loves this store! She asks to come in nearly every day. They've got a good selection of different toys that, in my opinion, is better than the big stores that we usually go to like Target and Wal-Mart. Just things that you don't find in many other toy stores. The store can get busy, at times, but we enjoy coming here. read more

Established in 1978.

"Carol Knight owns The Toy Store, the oldest, most enduring toy retailer in the valley. From floor to ceiling, the Toy Store is a small wonderland of playthings fit to dazzle and entice everyone from toddlers to pre-teen girls and boys. Starting on little more than help from family and friends (and volunteer sweat labor), Knight launched her business 31 years ago following her migration to the valley from Red Wing, Minn." Meet the Business Owner: Carol K.

"Knight was a teacher in Red Wing, on the bank of the upper reaches of the Mississippi River when she and fellow teacher Connie Nelson , decided "there was more to life than Red Wing," and opted for a three-month tour of Europe before making their way to the Wood River Valley in 1975 for a Sun Valley skiing fling. The road to becoming the valley's mistress of toys developed slowly. Knight went to work for Sun Valley Co. as a household maid, a stopgap living while she pleaded with the personnel department for a position that could use her teaching background. A job with a property management company followed, which led to running Edgar's Place, a day care center, where a parent suggested the valley needed a toy store. As they say, the rest is history. After she opened the Toy Store in Ketchum in 1978 (the store in Sun Valley followed in 2010)." From an article in The Idaho Mountain Express, Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I was excited to visit Chicken Lipps again, but not impressed this time around…read more.. All those favorite brands that I mentioned back in my 2011 review are now nonexistent...or at least they were last week. In the 10 minutes I spent in the store I didn't see a single thing I wanted to buy for my daughter, which is a rare occurrence when it comes to me and kids stores. There were a few cute things for my son, but nothing worth the price tag. The woman who works here barely looked up to say hello or ask if she could help. Save your $ and head to Tator Tots for the kiddos instead.
