We were very honest and…read moretold her we planned use her to look at stuff and pick brains but doubted we would buy anything. She never promoted or pushed anything but answered questions and pointed out challenges we not thought of. AND we aren't newbies. We have had 4 kitchens done in remodels and new custom houses and kind of know the program and what we' need and like and what we value. She was just great. So great we almost turned the planning to her and have a preliminary quote and will likely get a design from her and we hope be able to buy from her. As for work, quality etc I just hope they are as good as her

Due to inept communication, the slab of granite we had picked out somehow ended up in someone else's kitchen. We had already waited several weeks longer than we were supposed to originally, and now....... We'll add an additional 10 weeks. We had an appointment for their install crew to come and install the counters. That was between 9-10 in the morning. After waiting the entire day with not do much as a phone call, we decided to give up and go eat. As we were leaving, they're install pulled up in front of our home. The two guys got out of the truck and said we're here to install your counters. This was about 6:30 in the p.m. When I asked you to where the hell they had been and why we receive no notification they said that they were in McCall finishing up a job and that they were busy. They figured that we would be around when they showed up and that we wanted to counters installed bad enough that we would like to go ahead and do it. I told them to pack her crap up and get out of there and reschedule, we were done for the day. Finally the day of installation came. After several hours of working on putting the counters in the kitchen, they had left telling us the job was finished. Standing in the kitchen looking down on the countertops I about fell over. Being a contractor I have an eyeball for lines and such, however, one does not need to be a Carpenter to see how bad of a screwup this was. What was supposed to be a 90° angle cut ended up being a 97° angle cut. When we spoke to Big Wood Cabinets they sent the rep out to take a look. Of course she tried to come up with all kinds of roundabout excuses and reasons why it was the way it was the bottom line it was screwed up. He was Going to check in to finding out about having it replaced. After several days of negotiating back-and-forth he asked if we would be willing to except the countertop as it was and reduce the price for doing so. We agreed telling him that we would like at least a 20% reduction on the price of a granite slab that was miss cut and looks well looks terrible. That was agreed. Looking further into it not only was the countertop miss kit for the cabinets were installed just a little bit out of square as you can see in the pictures. These guys are supposed to be professionals?During the installation process of the cabinets, we had noticed flaws in the faces of the drawers and cabinet doors. Some were warped, some had chips taken out of them. Every time we inquired about such we were told to go ahead and wait until the end and we would do a final walk-through and then submit a claim under the warranty for the damage pieces and they would replace those parts. Well 7-8 months past the finish time of the cabinet installation and countertops we still have received no discount on the countertop after paying full price and we have received no parts or pieces to replace those damaged ones or defective ones. When calling Big Wood Cabinets we are told basically to shove it and they weren't going to do anything about it. You can see in the pictures how bad some of the damage was. Would you accept this in your home for all the money they charge? Wells Farfound one of our brand-new kitchen towels watered up underneath one of the cabinets looking like this. Bottom line these guys don't stand behind their word for a damn thing. They are liars and they're cheats. Not the kind of business dealing I would expect from a fellow native Idahoan.

His installers are excellent, with keen attention to detail. Kendall designed two beautiful rustic walnut pieces for our home: a cabinet for our living room with floating shelves above, and a highly functional work station for our office. We are thrilled that we chose Tree City Woodworking!

Kendall and his team at Tree City Woodworking, one of the Boise area's best custom cabinet makers,…read morecreated two pieces of custom furniture, a desk and bookcase, for the office in our home. My husband and I are delighted with the finished product as well as the process of working with Tree City from the first concept review meeting with the interior designer through design detail reviews through delivery of the pieces. Not only are the construction details perfect, the finish work is superb too and work was completed in budget and on time. Kendall is an experienced and talented craftsman who has a great team working with him and he runs the business with integrity to result in quality product and commitment dates both met. Our high expectations were exceeded. HOW WE FOUND TREE CITY: We were introduced to Kendall by the interior designer working on making our new house a home and it was she, Angela Incelli of Les Bois Interior Design who is simply fantastic in the work she does, who developed the design concepts for the furniture. She set up a meeting for us with Kendall and it was clear he and she had a working relationship of respect and trust built on previous projects as she asked for and he offered his input on the design, wood species and finishes. Kendall is excellent working in collaboration, as is Angela, and they had follow up meetings, some including us, to finalize details. At one of of the meetings Kendall had a to scale cardboard mock up of one of the pieces for final decision making. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Given our experience of working with Kendall on custom furniture, in Tree City we have complete confidence whether you are looking for custom cabinet work or case goods furniture that Kendall has ownership of quality outcome from the beginning and the experience and business skills to manage work schedules. Top notch all around, we highly recommend Tree City Woodworking. Were we building or remodeling in Treasure Valley, based on the experience we now know Tree City would be at the top of our list for cabinet subcontractor or custom case goods.. ABOUT US FOR CONTEXT: Sometimes it is helpful to know something about the reviewer, so I'll share that for context here. This is our fourth custom home in the last 23 years, the first in Idaho, and we have worked with great cabinet makers in other venues so we know what a difference it makes. Our regret is that as new residents of Eagle eighteen months ago when we started working with a local custom builder that we didn't know enough about Kendall's business to ask the builder to use Tree City for cabinet work. The cabinet maker our builder insisted on using had many quality control problems in both construction and finish which the owner and builder chalk up to being "too busy". Over a year after move in (and a hefty cabinet bill which we were not "too busy" to pay) my husband is still working with the builder's chosen cabinet maker on steps to have the defects resolved.
