From the outside, it can be a bit intimidating since it's all dark. But when you walk in, you realize that the all black aesthetic makes it look very classy and clean. On the right hand side, the wall says, "Culture Builds Community;" but it's not just a belief. The couple who runs the business, Pam and Jason, are very intentional in bringing the belief to life. In my first week there, I felt very welcome, and part of the group. They do a good job of creating tough, but fun workouts that work the entire body. I am someone who likes working out with others to feel motivated, and I am also someone who is most productive when I am not doing the same thing for too long. Each class follows the same structure where there are about 6-8 stations, each lasting about 5 minutes each. Each workout is very different, and there is always great music playing in the background. Before starting, they go through each workout and during the class, go around and make any corrections in your form which is very helpful in avoiding injuries / maximizing gain. There is a bathroom, but sadly no bubbler (or water fountain if you aren't a Rhode Islander). But, to make up for it, they do have a dog that roams around the gym. She is the cutest, but I am envious of her when she is relaxing while we're all sweating. Currently, their unlimited pass is $125/mo., 10 classes is $165, or single drop-in classes are $20 each. From what I have observed, they do offer personal training, but it might be more expensive. I would highly recommend giving them a try

As someone who easily gets intimidated by commercial gyms and weight lifting, I sought out a way to…read moreprioritize fitness and strength training in a more personalized way-- that's how I found Method Fitness. Jack Hammond and I regularly met throughout the week for 60-minute training sessions. I can't emphasize this enough-- his enthusiasm, encouragement, and overall knowledge about training undoubtably helped me achieve my goals. Not only did he constantly challenge and push me to improve and train harder; but he did so with a positive attitude. Obviously just by looking at Jack, you'll be able to tell he knows a thing or two about fitness and lifting (the guy is ~~ripped~~), but what sets Jack apart from the other "bro-science" personal trainers, is that he is ACE-certified, has a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, and also has experience with college athletics. His overall understanding about fitness is all backed by his years of experience + knowledge about science-based explanations ... now I don't know about you, but I don't think I could have asked for a more qualified trainer. Due to personal obligations and a career change, I'm no longer able to train at Method as regularly. The good news is that I'll always be able to keep the lessons I've been taught on proper form, correct movements, acceptable adjustments, and lastly-- my higher and improved self-esteem.

Looking for a gym experience that is shepherded by a highly-skilled trainer, perfectly aligned with…read moreyour fitness goals, and not steeped in testosterone? Look no further! I love Method's take on fitness: they recognize that everyone has a different fitness journey, that fitness goals vary, and that getting healthy is a process. By working with Adam and Nigel, I've learned that changing my body composition and dietary discipline has to be habitual, and that success is related to consistency. They've also taught me there is no magic pill, no fantasy workout, no fancy sweatmore sweatpants that are gonna burn my fat, lift my butt, and sculpt my arms; only my hard work will achieve those things. And that the hard work is WAY worth it. With Adam and Nigel's guidance, my weekly workouts have progressed hugely over time. I've dropped weight, changed my body composition, increased my cardio capability, and am strong as hell. Worried about Method being way too bro-tastic for your tastes? No worries there. Amahl, the owner, does an incredible job curating a team of trainers that is dedicated to a healthful lifestyle and are super fit themselves, but somehow lack the macho-man-cool-story-bro gene. Worried about Method not being hardcore enough for you? No worries there, either. These trainers are SERIOUS. I see some of the trainers' personal workouts while I'm coming and going in the space - and their strength, ability, stamina, and discipline AMAZE me. Super inspirational. Couple other plusses: the space is clean and beautiful, parking is easy peasy, there are always fresh towels to wipe your brow, and spring water is provided to quench your thirst. In short, integrating Method into your fitness routine is nothing but a good thing. You'll get where you want to go faster, with better knowledge, and with great guidance.

But not once did I ever "enjoy" working out. I found Steve through an app as I was looking for personal training to supplement my other trainer. When I met Steve in person, it blew my mind how much energy he had, despite it being 8:30pm. After training with Steve now for about a month, I've found that his energy wasn't just for show. With the passion he maintains for helping all of his members, Its clear that his high positive energy is just who he is as a person and as a coach. Steve takes a customized approach to each of his clients wether it's personal training, small group trainings, or any general members of his gym. He's always giving people advice and critiques on how to improve their form to get max results. As a pretty anti-social gym-goer, I was truly terrified to workout in the small group trainings. I don't like feeling like I have to race or compete with anyone. After a few classes, I realized that with the family environment Steve's personality brings to the room, that the group trainings are based on comradery, not competition. I really like the people that I've met at his gym and they've welcomed me with open arms. It only took a month for me to find an answer to my original question. People enjoy working out when they are inspired. Since meeting Steve, I've been inspired to run faster, lift heavier, and frankly, smile more. If you're looking for a rockstar coach and an awesome gym, I'll see you in class with Steve at Fitness Rising :)

Scott has been my trainer since October 2015, and this review is long overdue…read more Personally, I was always a big skeptic about personal trainers for the longest time, for a few different reasons: 1) They are expensive 2) Do not always customize the program based on where you are mentally are in the process 3) Boring, routine... workout 4) Felt funny working with a trainer in a public gym Scott is none of these things. Since my initial orientation with him, he heard my needs; why I needed a personal trainer and what my goals were. I have accountability issues when it comes to exercise, hence I realized I needed a trainer that just doesn't let me off the hook easily and doesn't make me do routine workouts ( threadmills, the same boring things over and over, etc.) I have yet to repeat any of my workouts with Scott. They never are boring. He is a motivator but not a drill Sargent, he manages to keep my mind busy and 60 minutes fly by. He also gives his clients his undivided attention IN HIS OWN PERSONAL GYM...where you can focus on your goals free from distractions you have a public gyms. I work out with Scott 3 times a week in his very clean, very organized private gym. If you are looking for a personal trainer that actual cares about health/wellness/fitness and his clients. Look no further. I am very lucky to have found him. A hidden gem for sure and I hope to continue my personal training adventure with Scott for as long as my mind and body will allow. It has made a major impact in my life for the good!

I had a wonderful pregnancy and by weight gain was really post-partum as I had a C-Section, nursed -'d had my child in the dead of winter. Yes, I know this all sounds like excuses...I reached out to my former trainer Manny and he said he was at DTC full time. I scheduled a consultation with him to check out the place and get more info. Located across from St. Anthony's on Mineral Spring, very clean, lots of high end equipment (they have a Jacob's Ladder torture device) and it's just clients and their trainer. I do belong to my local Planet Fitness and know a bunch of machine/dumbbell/body weight workouts but I am no expert in pairing them, knowing which weights to start and proceed to, etc. these guys do all that thinking for you - but at the same time, ensure you understand them and are educated so that you can do them on your own. The packages seem pricey but when you figure the 1:1 time for an hour each week along with the app and the nutrition meal plans, it really is worth it. The more sessions you buy upfront, the more the prices drop per session. They also have a great protein shake bar, my favorite is peanut butter/chocolate/coffee. Those aren't included however you can buy a shake card so you just get it stamped each visit. They do have complimentary waters though! And should you wish to get some spa treatments, that's there as well! I have yet to indulge! The place is great, people are nice, it's not a gym with any specific type of people - I've seen clients in all sizes and ages. The trainers all seem great and have different styles. I'm not quite at my goals yet and a lot of that is a lifestyle change for me which I'm chipping away at, but if you are looking to make a change in your life - check this place out!

I think PF has the best chance to survive due to it's price point, the other two companies who previously occupied this location were incredibly expensive for the location and the services they offered. All of the equipment is brand new and still in pristine condition. they make good use of the space, but it's all one floor now, they removed the the indoor walking track that was on the 2nd floor. I think that and the indoor pool is what kept the previous gyms in this location afloat. The gym was unoccupied for at least five years though so I'm sure that walking track was in great need of repair by the time the franchise was able to break ground. They have the same features that all of the other PFs have. ample parking in a private lot, and staff seem friendly and professional. The check in desk is an odd spot compared to where it was previously located but logistically it makes sense with the new shape of the gym. Though I wish it was same setup as the previous gyms I am still grateful this PF has finally opened. The Gansett Plaza had suffered significantly over the past 18 years. may this opening be apart of the revitalization this plaza has been in desperate need of.
