We've been taking our Toro lawn mower here for regular service for years. I don't know what changed in management, but this will be our last visit. Took the Toro to them in early September. I didn't read the reviews because we thought we knew them, but our experience matches many here. No status calls. No estimate for work to be done. After a few weeks, we called back and were told that the pump had been replaced, belts changed, they were just waiting on spark plugs. I didn't think Toro spark plugs would be such a rare item to get, but accepted that answer. Tried again in a month, they were still waiting. Finally, in mid DECEMBER I told them I was coming to get my Toro and to get the bill ready for whatever had been done. That's when they told me they never actually started the work. No pump or belts. I had a very disappointing experience with The Tool Shack in Gulf Breeze. I dropped off my mower along with my warranty information and paid a deposit, under the impression that I'd receive a call after an evaluation to discuss the issue and authorize any service. I was told they would also confirm whether the repair would be covered under warranty. Instead, I never received a single update or phone call. Work was completed without my authorization, no warranty claim was ever initiated, and I only found out when I received a call saying my mower was "ready." At pickup, I was forced to pay additional charges on top of my deposit in order to take my mower home. When I raised my concerns about this lack of communication and warranty follow-through, the staff showed little accountability. Speaking with the GM the next day only confirmed this. There was no ownership of the poor customer service, and I was basically told nothing would be done since they already had my money. This kind of business practice feels careless, unprofessional, and unfair to customers who expect transparency and honest communication. ok so I like supporting local business but this place has completely went downhill from what they used to be all their equipment is always broken and down they charge you for equipment before seeing if they even have it available for rent and every single time their equipment is broken down it's like the owner just don't care about it anymore the best employees are all leaving that care about getting business to run but this new crew is about as useless as they come never fix anything total waste of time and potentially costing my business money read more

RUN!!! Far from this place for repairs. After being told 2-3 days, I finally got my mower back after 2 1/2 MONTHS and it still is needs a deck belt. This place does not call you back, makes endless excuses for their awful work and service, and seem to be clueless on how to manage a business. Get used to the "college football trivia" as you wait on the phone until you get tired of waiting and hang up. Equipment (dingo tractor with 44" bucket) was in excellent shape along with the trailer I rented with it. The folks were very professional as I had to come back the next day due to previous renter not showing up. They gave discount which was the right thing to do In addition when the trailer light plug ground was wired wrong, they extended return time for the time they used to diagnose their trailer problem Very pleased overall and would use them again read more

I rented a stump grinder which I needed after cutting down 3 trees with my rental chain saw. Something I forgot that I had to contend with...came to Tool Shack and they rented me a stump grinder that tore the stumps to shreds in 45 mins. Saved my back and a whole day of labor. I rented a turf cutter from The Tool Shack last summer. After using it for about and hour, a bolt came off and it would not work. I had to bring the turf cutter back to The Tool Shack to replace it. This wasted about 2 hours. They would not give me more time nor reduce the price. Store personnel were surly and a pain to work with. I will never rent from them again. Mom bought her Snapper lawn mower here in 2012. At which time she had a mulcher kit installed. At the time of purchase, she asked the salesman if there was a problem would they come and get the mower for servicing. Of course they stated they would. So she bought the mower. At the time of delivery, a part that had been removed for the mulcher Kit install was not turned over to her. She did not know this at the time. She's 79yo. What do you expect. Within a year, the Snapper developed an oil leak so she call The Tool Shack to get it serviced. She was informed that she would have to bring the mower to the store for servicing. THAT WAS THEIR FIRST LIE EXPOSED. After several heated conversations with them, she found another repairman to fix the leak. Now four years later, we found that we need the part they removed for the mulcher. So we go back to the store and ask about the part. We still have the sales receipt showing where they had installed the mulcher. They deny not turning over the part and stated that since they no longer carry or service Snapper mowers they cannot help us. They recommend a store up in Milton. I made a few calls and found Seville Power Equipment in Pensacola would order the part. It's closer. Much closer. So if you like being lied to, please do business with these people. If you like being treated like an idiot, please do business with these people. If you're old and like being cheated, please do business with these people. Otherwise, go somewhere else. read more

Had no choice but to give one star so first of all we spent over 100 K at the store before and we are one hour away I go there to pick up some filters and they shorted me one so I turn around and go back a little later to get my one filter and they give me one that was missed labeled so on the third attempt which would be six driving hours I ask them to mail me the right one and they wanted to charge me 11 bucks! I purchased an Echo cs355t in 2020 sometime and this year the oiler stopped working causing the saw to stop in mid cut. In July 2021 dropped it off for repair with a $200 budget. Every couple month would call to get an update and I would get parts on order no eta. Here in December 2021 fed up I said I want to pick up my saw and know there are parts somewhere. Joe said well it could be a warranty repair like that would change my mind. Well after all their crap I fixed my saw in two weeks thanks to ebay for $86 in parts. Oiler was $52 +tx and clutch $30+tx all oem. Oh and their repair staff broke my clutch in disassembly because I did not bring it in like that. I received poor customer service throughout my repair request but purchasing they were attentive and quite pleasant . If you are looking for repair I would look elsewhere. But why buy equipment from a dealer that doesn't have good customer service throughout? read more

You must understand that they are at the mercy of their suppliers too. I gave this place a try even with 2 stars. The customer service is poor and the men in the shop are not truthful. We had our push mower there there for over a month and we were told up front there was a delay, however they told us over a week ago the parts are there and it would be ready next week. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE OR ORDER ONLINE. Called and gave them my lawn mowers model number to order replacement blades. They told me to come in on Monday so I did. After 20 mins of waiting they told me the blades were not in. They called the next day to tell me the blades were in. After waiting again for 20 mins they give me the wrong blade. Luckily I looked at my mower prior to going there so I had some idea what the blades looked like. After arguing with the employee about the blades being wrong, I had to pull up a parts diagram on my phone because the guy couldn't read his own diagram. After all that he tells me the blades are in stock. He pulls out after market blades that are not even sharpened. I asked for honda blades, now they tell me honda doesn't make blades. After researching the part they are trying to sell me I discover they are a low quality inferior after market product. A quick Internet search also revealed honda does make blades and they are available online for cheaper than the crap product they are trying to sell me. I didn't buy anything from them and will never go to tool shack again. read more

They are not particularly friendly, not particularly helpful and only treat you like customers ought to be treated when you are spending thousands. I have a commercial account and the guy tries to argue with me the other day about what I have and haven't bought there. I'm ready to upgrade and buy a $5000-$8000 mower, but either ordering online or making the trek to Pensacola because a) I don't trust them and b) I don't care to be wined and dined ONLY because I'm spending big bucks. Do not expect any real service from here if you take in a mower to get repaired in a reasonable amount of time. I took my riding mower in to get new pulleys and belt installed. I dropped it off on a Thursday and was told it would be ready the middle of the following week and that I could use their trailer, at no charge, when I picked the mower up. When I had not heard anything from then by Monday, 11 days later, I called them. They checked and said the part was on back order. I asked when it might be in and they said they did not know but would call me back. I did receive the one call back they promised during this whole ordeal saying that the part had been located, was being shipped over night and would be in the following day. They would have the mower ready by the end of the week. The following Monday, 18 days since I dropped it off, I called again and they apologized and said again it would be ready by the middle of the week and if there were any delays they would call me. I called again on a Monday, now 25 days since I dropped it off and again I was promised it would be ready by the end of the week. Now hurricane Michael blew through and so I waited until the following Monday, now 32 days after I dropped off the mower, and was told all the parts were in but the service manager was out. They would leave a note for him to call. This was at 10 am At 3:30PM I called again and was told the service manager had returned but had gone out again. I told them I was going to call at the same time on Tuesday if I had not received a call. On Wednesday I received a call that the mower was done and I could pick it up, 34 days after I dropped it off. When I arrived there was no apology or offer of discount or anything. I have to assume that this is just business as usual. The one thing they told me that they did follow up on was they did let me borrow the trailer long enough to take my mower home. Recommendations - don't go here. The service is a joke. read more

I rented a paint sprayer it was not cleaned right. Spray shot a streams when I told the guys in the store they told me it was cleaned perfectly cause he cleaned it when he painted his own house and then charged me a $200 cleaning fee. Ripped us off!!! Last Friday 8/29/14 my husband rented a chipper for limbs under 3". The chipper would not chip 3/4" limbs. After many attempts by 3 men, my husband returned the machine. Owner had never used the chipper and stated it did not have a feeder - the the chipper he rented us did not work. HE DID NOT GIVE A REFUND ON OUR CREDIT CARD.
