When you first walk into this restaurant, you see a very cute, cozy space with a small bar and some unique/indie decorations throughout. My girlfriend and I had already decided to do the brunch for 14€ and were promptly seated. The brunch begins with either coffee/tea and a orange juice or you can add mimosas or other alcoholic options for an extra charge. I thought the freshly squeezed orange juice was one of the best parts of the meal! I went for a pancake with PB&J for the first course and my girlfriend got a fruit bowl. I thought the pancake was very filling, but the peanut butter tasted like it was from a jar of Jiffy. Next we both decided to get the breakfast burrito for the second course. Again, I thought the food was very filling, and I'm sure it's hard to come by a breakfast burrito in Madrid, but it just didn't wow me. Overall, I think the portions and amount of food you get for 14€ is very good, especially that orange juice! As far as the taste, it is good, but not great. This restaurant is definitely filling a small niche in Madrid and has some hard to come by "American" food, so if you're craving that, this could be your place. read more

I love it! I visited twice on my five days vacation in Madrid and even though we had to walk quiet a bit - it was worth it. Especially second time was epic! I had a brunch menu with French toast, breakfast burrito, orange juice, latte and a Bloody Mary... it was bloody good! The service was great, the location cosy... After walking around allll over the city looking for a suitable American-style brunch (and not a particularly expensive one), we finally came to The Toast. It was like a mirage through our hunger-colored glasses - the decorations were cozy and comfortable, with cool old-timey photos on the walls and plenty of room. Once we discovered that the Sunday brunch was only 12E (without alcohol, 16E with), we decided to sit on down. At first it was a little awkward because the people working here clearly speak perfect English and get a lot of English-speaking visitors... so when the waiter came to take our order, he spoke in English. My Spanish boyfriend was a little confused so I took over and everything was fine, but throughout the whole meal we weren't sure whether to continue in English or Spanish with the other members of the staff. Minor detail though. Another small thing was when we ordered our coffee and I said we wanted it with the meal instead of afterwards. I know here in Spain it's normally taken afterwards, but if you're going for the American-style brunch, might as well serve a big cup o joe as we Americans do - with the brunch. Our waiter made me repeat this several times to make sure he understood it correctly. We ordered a couple of pancakes to start. Salmon and cream cheese was one and the other was banana and nuts. Delicious. It's been many months since I've had such lovely pancakes. For the second course I got the eggs benedict with bacon (also served with home fries) and my boyfriend got the huevos rancheros with spicy sauce on the side. At this point we were pretty stuffed so though we didn't finished these plates, they were quite good. All in all, I would definitely return to The Toast for brunch. Or lunch or dinner, for that matter. The cozy and inviting atmosphere makes it a perfect choice for a lazy Sunday. read more

Just finished a home ordered meal from this place consisting of the big apple burger, with a side of french fries and sweet potato fries, nachos with guacamole and chicken and a carrot cake for dessert. To begin with they brought me 2 cans of Coca Cola Zero instead of normal. I ordered the meat well done, it was rare, the sweet potato fries were burnt. The nachos were ok but slightly on the soggy side and they must have put juice from 20 lemons into the onion and tomato salsa, the chicken was slightly burnt and was rubbery as well, cheese is of bulk ordered quantity, more like plastic and no real flavor. The carrot cake was more like a doorstop than a fluffy and light cake. They must have either missed to mix sugar into the frosting (or carrot in the cake for that matter) or they just have to order the cake from somewhere else in the future. Complete scam and I paid about 32 euros for all this. read more

Great deal for great food! For 15 euro you get a first course, second course, a juice, and a coffee. That is what I call a good brunch. The juice was fresh squeezed, the coffee had a sprinkle of cinnamon, the salmon on my toast was fresh, and my eggs were fried to perfection. Literally stumbled upon the place taking a paseo in Moncloa and what a gem. Tell you the truth, it was the wifi that got me but I stayed for the food. The chocolate cake is rich, fantastic, y no me puedo quejar. And the brunch... how I have missed brunch while I was in Madrid, away from the land of brunch: the US. The scrambled eggs are better than any scrambled eggs I've eaten ever because it was not completely cooked down to rubber which happens quite often; semi-raw parts still remained to my pleasure. And the pancakes are also fantastic. You can taste the love. And the eggs benedict, simply wow. Feeling nostalgic thinking of those huevos benedictinos. read more

Pretty far out of the way but worth the trek! Really good American breakfast in a cute, hipster environment. The brunch deal is a lot of food, but delicious. I got the peanut butter and jelly pancake to start which was mouthwateringly good especially if you've been longing for that good old American classic flavor combination. I then had the breakfast burrito- good, have definitely had better in America, but like the PB&J, it was something that I don't often see in Spain. All in all a great choice if you're hankering for specific American brunch items in a cozy and relaxed environment. read more

I do like a good brunch, especially for those moments where you want to do something extra for your partner. Living just around the corner from The Toast has made it the obvious choice for our Sunday-morning splashes and the quality of the food is great and staff is beyond helpful. Prices are a little high, but still around the same as a lot of the brunch places around Madrid. I like the space even though the intimacy sometimes borders to sitting in a person's lap. It's small, let's be honest, and conversation if not kept to a minimum volume, is easily audible all through out the backroom which can sometimes be annoying. I love their breakfast burrito and their delicious eggs Benedict, and I'm positive we'll come back! read more

Went here on a Monday afternoon, and it was delicious. I ordered the hummus starter which could have used more vegetables/pita for the amount of hummus provided, but regardless, tasted great. We also tried the greek salad and the grilled chicken croissant sandwich and loved both. Although I did not try them, the fresh juices and extensive mojito selection also caught my eye. The restaurant was casual with a cafe vibe and would also be a great place to come for coffee with a book. My only complaint would be that the restaurant didn't seem to have air conditioning and the door was open so the front room we sat in had a lot of flies in it. However, there is a back room that would have probably been more comfortable. read more

There a few places in Madrid where you can get a nice brunch in a small, friendly and reasonably priced tab. We have had brunch there twice and tasted the salad with pink vinegar, the salmon toast, eggs Benedict and Huevos Rancheros. The Toast has a nice interior with a slightly hipster vibe in a not so popular area of town. However dont let the location put you off; the service was excellent and there was a steady stream of people waiting to get a table. We ordered the American Breakfast and the French toast. The American Breakfast was a lot of food and it was decent, but if I could re-do my order I would get the French toast. It was amazing!! But their mimosas are the best! I recommend getting the jar, was only 8€ and between three people you get about 3-4 glasses each. The toast is a great place when you want some great american style food with a touch of Spain. The owners are the nicest couple, an American man and Spanish woman. I continually go to the toast and have never been let down. They also serve the only brunch i know of around this part of Madrid and they have live music on Sundays. Came here for brunch this morning after seeing that they had a breakfast burrito on the menu, and while it was quite a journey to get there, it was well worth it. I arrived right as it opened because I was afraid of brunch crowds, so I was the first costomer. I was immediately handed a menu and asked about what drink I wanted. I'd checked out the menu online so I ordered food, the fruit salad and breakfast (meat) burrito, as well as a mimosa. In addition to the food coffee and fresh squeezed OJ is included in the cost, so you're getting a really great, large portion of food and drink without ordering anything extra. The waitess took my order and was at my table with my coffee, juice and mimosa within five minutes. About ten minutes later my fruit salad came out, which was light, fresh and extremely tasty! Then fifteen minutes later I got my burrito!! While it was smaller than I had expected, it was well made and the ingrediates came together well. There's was corn, beans, meat, cheese, salsa, guac, sour cream and potatoes, and it was so amazing I devoured it in minutes!! I then walked up to the bar, paid my tab and went home very very full. I'll be back again soon with my fellow exchange students from America for such a delicious taste of home. While I didn't get the toast, the people next to me talked about how great it was.
