I truly wish there was a "zero" star rating for this dishonest individual. I recently brought in a much loved antique, Sessions mantle clock for Mr. Craig to look at. I called first to see if I needed an appointment and during our conversation Mr. Craig asked if I had any old watches that no longer ran because he was always in need of specific parts. Before bringing in my clock I searched through my things and was able to find a box full of old watches which I happily gave to him asking for nothing in return. Upon looking at my clock I was informed it would need a new back, a key and a bit of adjusting. My clock ran but needed a key to keep it running. Mr. Craig stated that it was in excellent condition and worth approximately $225.00. I was told it simply needed a slight adjustment due to a small piece being slightly bent. I was informed the price of the key would be $6.00, and he had extra "backs" in his shop. Since I was told the clock was in great condition I assumed the cost for the repairs would be no more then $30.00 at the most. 2 1/2 weeks later Mr. Craig called to inform me my clock was ready and the total would be $217.00 for the repairs. Obviously, I was absolutely floored! Without hesitation I immediately began extensively researching this model clock and spoke directly to four other antique clock repair shops regarding the quoted cost of Mr. Craig's repairs. I told them the exact details of what I was told was wrong with the clock by Mr. Craig. In layman's terms I was told by all four individuals that I had been completely being taken advantage of because of my lack of knowledge of the real costs of repairs. The total cost should have been no more then $40.00. Period. Each shop owner was kind enough to email what "their" cost would have been and that there was nothing Mr. Craig could have done to this particular clock to incur such an inflated repair price. Especially since it is only worth $225.00! I am also a local small business critic/blogger, so I have had the pleasure of getting to know almost all the small business owners in my town. In several conversations I mentioned "The Time Keeper" and what was done to me. Each time I was given the exact same response stating "Do NOT do business there!" Sadly, Mr. Craig's reputation is already quite tarnished and frowned upon by many local consumers due to his poor business ethics. I am very taken aback that I was targeted simply due to my lack of knowledge. I put my trust in Mr. Craig and believed that he was an honest man, and I am very sad that I have to say he truly is not. Now, because I cannot not pay his price I have lost my clock and my trust. Mr. Craig will simply sell my family heirloom in his shop and reap the benefits of profiting from his blatant dishonesty and lack of integrity with someone who put their complete trust in him. I know I can go about anywhere to get a new battery for my watch, however; when my tournament chess clock needed repair, I knew I needed an expert in precision timepieces. After other clock repair services told me they were unsure how to work on such a delicate mechanism, I finally found Garry Craig at the Timekeeper. I could tell immediately that I had found the right place. Garry handled the chess clock with care and confidence. He showed an appreciation of the precision movements within the dual-clock mechanism; explaining the assembly as he was troubleshooting the problem. That clock was a gift from my father to me upon my first chess tournament in 1964. Now, I felt confident I was leaving it in the hands of a true horologists. Garry documented the receipt of the timepiece and, when I came to pick it up, he took the time to share with me a few steps I might take to care for the clock in the future. Since that time, I have taken a second family heirloom for restoration; a gold Rolex pocket watch, inscribed from 1934 to my grandfather. Again, Garry handled the piece with a special appreciation for its origin and provenance. I remember his asking permission to open the pocket watch to examine it when I first brought it in. Oh NO!... I have 11 antique clocks that I purchased at auction recently, since there are not many watch repair shops locally I did some "research" on The Time Keeper, I see that Mr. Craig scammed a local small business blogger/reviewer!! BIG mistake Gary! I know this woman, she is actually a friend of mine who is one of the kindest people I know. HOW could Mr. Craig do such a thing? I would never trust this man, as it is very well known in town that the business ethics of Gary Craig are very poor. I asked around regarding him and I get the "eye roll." People do not think very highly of a liar and a scam artist, especially in a small town. Now he has scammed and stolen an antique clock from a woman who reviews and blogs about local businesses!!?? Wow, in my opinion I would send her back her clock with a note of apology. Word is out as far as I know, and Mr. "Time Keeper" is no longer trusted in this community. As a business owner myself I could never conduct myself in this manner. How shameful that the almighty dollar is more important then trust and loyalty!! read more

Over the last half a year I have brought in multiple watches for battery replacement. All were replaced while I waited and now the watches are all keeping time just fine again. Also, I brought in a 50 year old cuckoo clock that stopped working. Garry took a look at it and said he wasn't sure he could repair it because it was so old. He said he could take a detailed looked at it if I wanted, but it would cost $200 and at the end it still might not work. I told him to go ahead anyway. Well, much to my surprise, he was able to get it working and it's still working just fine. The cost was just a bit more than the original $200 to cover the cost of a few part replacements. I am very happy with all that has been done by Garry and would recommend him to anyone looking to get any timepiece repaired. read more

I have a pocket watch has been in my family for more than 130 years. It has not run while in my care. I am planning to pass it on to my son for his 60th birthday and felt it would be an extra special gift if it was running. I found The Timekeeper online, gave him a call, after which I delivered the watch to him for repair. He promised to get it out within 8 weeks at a given price. He got it out in less than 4 weeks at the agreed upon price. And, he helped me avoid a two hour round trip to pick it up by carrying it with him on an errand he needed to run that was much closer to my house. We had an old grandfather clock that needed several new internal components mid-2020. The owner of The Timekeeper came to our home in Wallingford, CT, followed all COVID-19 procedures, and was able to figure out what components needed to be ordered. A few weeks later, we had a working grandfather clock again and it still continues to chime right on time to this very day. Additionally, I had an old Movado watch that I found in my late grandfather's home that needed a new battery and wrist strap. The owner was able to provide both items and install them well at a reasonable price. I have been doing business with Garry for years, and have had many experiences with him, ranging from batteries to watch bands to preventive maintenance and major repairs on an antique clock. I have always found his work to be impeccable, his honesty unquestionable, and his prices to be more than fair, especially when dealing in high-grade watches that would normally have to go back to the factory. A visit to his shop is also a treat; he is an excellent conversationalist, and if he is deeply immersed in his work Buddy (the Australian Shepherd) will keep you occupied. Bought a Hamilton pocket watch from Mr. Craig and I am thoroughly satisfied. He has since repaired a modern mantle clock and I've just dropped off two antique mantle clocks. On every occasion Mr. Craig has examined the clock, showed me any issues he sees and given me an estimate so I can decide whether to go forward. He is honest enough to tell you when a clock is not worth fixing. I'm kind of a time piece enthusiast and I am so happy to see his shop in Wally. About a year after a major chain jeweler changed the battery on my wife's premium watch I took the watch to The Timekeeper shop to have the battery replaced again. When Gary opened the watch case (in my presence) we discovered the battery had leaked and destroyed the movement. At my request Gary Craig replaced the complete watch movement. To my total amazement Gary's price for the watch repair and new movement was about 1/4 the price the major chain had charged me to install the new battery a year earlier. I'm the type of person who still likes the feel of a wristwatch. So when I had three of them that needed attention (a new watch with a bracelet that needed resizing, another with a broken bracelet, and a third that needed to be checked) I had to find a place that could do all that. I also had a mantle clock that had stopped; the clock was a wedding present that my husband and I received. The Timekeeper fixed all three watches and the clock. In early 2025 I obtained a Hamilton pocket watch from a family member it was manufactured in the 2nd quarter of 1921. It had several issues the crown was loose, and the watch would not wind or run. It's small in size being 1 ¾" round. Being a 17-jewels watch I believe it has value. I took it to the Timekeeper they did a great job repairing and bring the watch back to life.
