This place was nothing short of amazing and the exhibits were beautiful. I've been all over the world to a lot of art museums, but this is one of my top 3 favorite art galleries! Took me around 3.5 hours to get through with the special exhibit waiting times, but spent the time walking through all 3 levels, stopped at the gift shop and enjoyed some high tea while I was there! 100% recommend!

The Metro Gallery stood out most for me because of the interesting blends of contemporary and Indigenous art. The paintings had an edge unlike many of the other galleries where I like art to ask questions and be challenging. Don't get me wrong a like the pretty paintings as well but as a viewer I feel like I get much more out of the different and more surrealist pieces. I would love to attend an exhibition there sometime to seeing some of the other works done by the talented artists. Worth a look if you like interesting, modern art.

Really great lively atmosphere with lots of people and the large downtown buildings in the backdrop of the market were beautiful! There was a great fruit and vegetable selection - I choose a few different fruit options to take back to my hotel later to enjoy. I LOVE mangosteen but it's hard to get fresh ones in the US so was super stoked to see those available! The indoor section with cheeses, meat and seafood was also super impressive! The Printmaker Gallery stocks some of the most exquisite prints in Australia…read more Stepping inside you are immediately bombarded with prints of all sizes. From large and phenomenal David Nixon prints that hang high on the wall, to tiny small artworks that you flip through in one of the folders, the Printmaker Galley has hundreds of works available. I am always astounded at the variety of art works. From modern and very rhythmic pieces (David Nixon's etchings are sublime) to static and interesting landscapes, there is something for everyone's taste in this little gallery. The Printmaker Gallery also has some beautiful indigenous art work from North Australia. The staff are excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable, they will help you locate the works of a certain artist, or recommend particular pieces that are both unique and excellent options for gifts. On several occasions when my mother and I have been buying prints for friends overseas I have been impressed with the advice and service we received. The Printmaker Gallery also makes frames for prints and artwork and have exhibitions where you can purchase the work off the wall.
