We did however have issues with the placement of benches in the museum. When we drank our coffee we sat facing a window that had a huge rectangle in our line of sight. Another bench had a plaque on it to show maybe dedicated or donated to the museum, was in a dimly lit hallway. One final bench, was placed too closely to art. You can sit and relax on it and hit your head on fine art. Other than the coffee and the misplaced benches, this museum is delightful. The updates they've done are beautiful and I love coming to see the new exhibits.

The interior was immaculately clean with one of the most comfortable queen beds I've ever slept on. I was also impressed with the quality of the bedding. The sheets were soft and extra blankets and pillows were provided. It has a nice sized compact refrigerator, microwave, and R/0 water in the kitchen area. Snacks and drinks were provided. Then a delicious homemade breakfast with pleasant company. The hosts made me feel welcomed from the second they opened the front door of the main house. Even the parking was secure. It was the perfect get-away. I will be heartbroken if they don't have a vacancy and I have to resort to a hotel the next time I am in Lubbock.

Behind this is an open air museum of buildings from Texas ranch life in the 1800's. It is varied and fascinating to see how people lived and worked back then. The buildings are spread along a 1 1/2 mile loop and there is a nice paved sidewalk so you can walk (I did!) or you can take the little mini train which has a conductor/tour guide. Personally, I am big fan of the back nine. My only real "knock" on this course is how busy it is. In June, when it was 112 degrees, there was still an hour and a half wait for a tee time at 4pm. Student membership is a good deal. $500 per season (or $125 per month) gets you access to the driving range every day of the week and unlimited golf with a $12 cart fee. I don't think the course is as difficult as others have described, I am a high handicapper and have no problem getting through a round. If you like golf and you're a Red Raider, you should play here at least once no matter your skill/experience level.
