Fun, authentic vintage shop with clothing, decor and odds/ends. Pricing is steep but given the location (pricey rent) and quality of the items, that's to be expected. Came here for a browse and went through almost every rack I saw. They have some pretty cool finds here that are pretty rare indeed. I would've bought a couple more items I saw but unfortunately it was a tad too pricy for the logical side of my wallet. I've worked in retail before and I can tell the difference between a good buy and a steep one-- that made a sharp turn at Overrated Ave. But hey-- if you don't mind shelling out some extra green to have something in your wardrobe that no one else will probably have then I say go for it! That's actually how I felt about this poly 1970's crazy ass looking shirt. I seriously doubt I'll find anyone else wearing this same exact shirt-- unless I find someone from the 70's jet back to this century in a time machine. You never know. I will point out one interesting detail when I got this poly rarity home. I noticed when I turned the shirt inside out for a wash, I saw a different color stitching on the inside of the collar that didn't match the rest of the original stitching. This indicates that this shirt was indeed repaired, which I can appreciate but it would've been nice to have it stitched the same color so that it appeared as if no repair was done to it-- BUT no biggie. The stitch job was a decent one and I guess that's what counts. My hope is that this vintage find will hold up for a few handful of wears-- maybe about 10 and I'll be a happy duck. I have shopped at The Ten Penny Store for about 2-3 years now. I can easily spend a couple fun hours shopping. I've found some great outfits that I love and wear over and over. I bought 2 items, gotten home and noticed moth holes which got significantly larger after 2 dry cleanings, leaving me regret those purchases because the price are a bit high. Their rack space is cramped making it hard to take items off and on. They have many items that have been on the racks for a long time - seems like they could create a clearance area to to make the newer items easier to look through. I don't feel encouraged to bring my own items to sell or acquire store credit. When I've done so, there has been little interest, minimal expressed appreciation (verbally or non verbally), and not much openness to educate me about what they are looking for. Despite the above constructive feedback. I am still willing to drive 45min to just brows so I still give it 4 stars. read more

As a traveler, Vintage spots like Ten Penny always make me jealous that I don't live in that shops city. This place had a bit of everything and all of it was pretty amazing, not just clothes but fun kitschy memorabilia to black and white photographs - I always appreciate when the men's section isn't just an afterthought and is given the same time and care.. that said, Ten Penny's men's selection was great. A huge array of denim and pants, jackets and a lust worthy rack of tees and shirts. I definitely left with a few items for my wardrobe and hope to find more in the future. read more

Good place! Random and funky assortment that's fun to browse. The prices are consistent and decent: you won't find an absolute steal, but when you find the perfect item you really want to get you'll always find the price to be quite fair, maybe a little surprisingly so.
