I came across FM whilst perusing the World Food Court and on seeing their traditional brick pizza oven in use, decided on the spot to check them out. Given its busy location, service had to be quite regimented - you ordered and paid at the counter and were then given a pager to take back to your seat which would flash and buzz when your meal was ready to collect. My pizza with Gloucester Old Spot ham, mozzarella, buffalo ricotta and wild mushrooms really looked the business; all was ok until I bit down on a piece of black plastic in the base. Full credit to the staff here: when I showed them they profusely apologised, gave me a refund and another pizza without question. Unfortunately, the second wasn't cooked through enough, the base was really chewy and some of the cheese wasn't melted. I decided then that enough was enough and just left - to be honest I probably wouldn't eat here again.

I found that there was hardly any toppings on the pizza, with some areas missing toppings entirely and they don't slice the pizza for you and I found it tough to cut up. We also had an issue obtaining cutlery?! Maybe it was because it is in a shopping center and things fly out the kitchen quicker than a regular restaurant, which might excuse or justify some of the issues I experienced. I was very happy when a friend introduced me to this place, making a change from the pub on the corner that had become our default meeting place. Nice to hear that the owners are the same and the area can obviously take two lovely places to drop in for coffees during the day. If the bacon sandwich was anything to go by, the food is bound to be fantastic. Staff were super friendly and the large seating area in the back looked inviting. They make their own bread and the pizzas are said to be delicious. Can't wait to return!

There are numerous cafes right next to each other featuring similar menus. Started off with a cappuccino and it was so-so. The espresso was bitter...and the foam was too thin...bummer Moved on to the eggs royale and it was decent. The hollondaise sauce wasn't too thick and the English muffin was decent. There was a decent amount of smoked salmon too. Being seated close to the door made it a chilly experience as some patrons left the main door open after coming into the restaurant.

The place looks like an ordinary cafe from the outside, with some bakery items displayed in front and in the back. There are a handful of tables inside for seating and it was not too busy when we went for Sunday brunch. The vibe is very casual and chill inside. The staff are average friendliness and attentiveness. The service speed is pretty quick. Overall, I think Dulce Cafe is a very good option if you are looking for a casual brunch in the Whitechapel area.
