This hip little cafe features a small retail shop in the front and a large dining room packed with tables in the back. We came on a weekend afternoon and had to wait around 30 minutes for brunch. The place was very busy and you could see the waiters rushing around to serve each table. The service was pretty minimal after we placed our orders. They leave a large bottle of water on your table so you can refill water yourself. There was a good mix of traditional brunch options and trendier, healthier options. I was craving something sweet and unhealthy so I ordered the pancakes. It came with lots of cream on top satisfied my sweet tooth. I tried my friend's sweet potato and chorizo hash, but it tasted very average. The ingredients used in their food seemed fresh. I really liked 202 in Notting Hill, and I found the whole experience of eating within the space of a gift, furniture and clothes shop to be highly enjoyable, but I can't help but feel a little sceptical of the premise. It's like someone said; 'OK, we are surrounded by rich West Londoners - how can we get them to spend the most money possible? Lets offer them an enviable lifestyle while they eat, and then they will spend their money TWO times over, rather than just once!' I was almost worried that they were going to offer me a property brochure with 202 houses for sale rather than the dessert menu. That's my only complaint. And if I were rich enough to take advantage of this shop to it's full extent, then I definitely would. Nicole Fahri's tasteful eye has cast itself over every square inch of this shop. To the front of the shop is home furnishings, laid out in a way in such a way that for a very brief moment, you could dream that this was your living room; tastefully furnished with a few quirky artefact's thrown in. I loved her miniature model French CV cars. Downstairs is mainly clothes, again, I coveted everything. Upstairs is where all the beautiful people eat. The menu is comprehensive and spans through Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch and Dinner, and comes with a well chosen wine menu. Nicole Farhi's lifestyle concept store. This is where food, fashion, and home décor come together. Comprising of two floors, the whole place is open and bright - and the way the restaurant portion spills into the clothes area gives it a certain warmth and casual charm. The café portion of 202 is brilliant - especially for brunch. Their salads are flavourful and fresh - and more unusual for London, varied! The French toast is perfectly executed (a difficult feat, I always think) and amazingly reasonable at just under £6. Did I mention that their coffee is also really good? I'm a huge fan of Nicole Farhi, but as far as the rest of her concept store goes, I'm just a tad disappointed; it feels too polished to me. Since this is a "lifestyle" store, I want to feel like I'm in Nicole Farhi's design studio, stumbling into more mussed elements of her life while browsing... maybe her favourite books or obscure trinkets... but this store has none of that undone feel to it... it is all entirely end-product. Not to say that it isn't lovely, because it is, but there's such a Bohemian Rhapsody behind her style, and this store is simply more mature than I'd like it to be. That said, with its beautiful clothes and table settings available for purchase, plus the very attractive and airy café, 202 is still an engaging success of a store. My flat is just next to 202 and I've passed by so many times admiring the decor that it was about time to pop in to actually taste the food. 202 is an peculiar and also trés chic mix of a fashion boutique and restaurant serving a trendy Notting Hill crowd. In the summertime, you can sit outside people watching, while in the colder (and, let's face it, ever so rainy 10 other months of the year) you can have your choice of a seat inside. They also have a garden, but we didn't go there. I was meeting a friend visiting from Copenhagen, and she was already there sipping really good Italian white wine. So I ordered myself a glass (one eventually turned into 3..) and went through their menu. The salads looked amazing, so I went for a green salad with figs, goat cheese and dry italian ham. It was really good, and quite generous. My friend also went for a salad and we had some fries to share - crunchy, slim and with good quality mayo - yummy. We also had quite the entertainment: The place was packed with police as some woman had her bag stolen. The thief was actually caught by the staff who locked the door so she didn't escape. A LOT of swearing and yelling until she was taken away by the police. Usually, I think it's much more quite and eventless. Once again, I was dragged to a women's shop with my girlfriend who just cant seem to understand that I hate shopping, but 202 has really got something right. Whilst the woman shops, I can sit down and eat in the restaurant, genius! As for the clothes, I cant comment, though she did come back to my table with a bag. As for the food, well, it has a decent selection, including burgers and really puts an emphasis on organic healthy eating. But I had fish and chip and my girlfriend got one of those healthy shakes, all reasonably priced. First impression of this restaurant was a good one. The decor inside this restaurant is refreshing as they also have a clothing shop in the basement of the restaurant. This street has plenty of cute shops as well as great restaurants. It was a quieter street compared to the touristy places on Portobello Road (which was jammed pack). As for service, service was great. All the waiters and waitresses were friendly. However, it did take a while for us to get the food as well as a long wait to get seated. Food: Food was pretty good, nothing that would blow your mind. The food on the menu seemed to be seasonal so they always offered different types of brunch foods either daily/weekly/monthly. It's also a very healthy restaurant as they used very fresh, organic, and healthy ingredients. I ordered a Quinoa French Toast, which was ok. Not very sweet unless added with syrup and the taste is a bit interesting. However, the Avocado Toast and some type of healthy Sprout Salad was very good. Nice and refreshing for a day walking in Notting Hill. We also ordered their Raspberry Pancakes which were decadent. How I found this place: I was supposed to head to Granger and Co. which had great reviews from Yelp but the line was way too long on a Saturday for brunch. 1. Wake up early on a Saturday morning. 2. Take the circle line from Tower Hill to Notting Hill gate. 3. Walk towards Westbourne Grove and get lost in the process. 4. Find Westbourne Grove near Queensway. 5. Walk a kilometre to find Cafe 202 at a remote corner of the city. When i walked in after all this, i thought this place better be very very good, in order to justify the efforts i had made to get there when i would rather be sleeping. And it was. I ordered the french toast with bacon, and a plate of sausages. My friend ordered granolas and a blueberry muffin (which was heavenly). Warning: This maybe in West London, but the portions are American. One dish is more than enough for most people. I have had french toast with a number of side items, ranging from ketchup to maple syrup. Bacon was a new addition to the list ... and a good one at that. The two went very well together. The sausage was cooked rare ... to perfection. Great decor, delicious food, a bit slack on service This was the place I ended up in instead of the Daylesford Organic as the wait was just a bit shorter. Upon first entering, you feel as if you are in a proper High Street fashion shop not a restaurant and in all fairness it is part shop (check out the basement). The line was quite literally out the door and my first impression wasn't favourable as we seemed to be ignored by all the staff rushing around. When we were finally seated in a cosy back table next to the wine rack, I started to warm up to the place. Our drinks (water for me...I was incredibly hungover) were brought quickly and the menus revealed a range of intriguing options. I opted for the crab cake with a mango salsa on a bed of green leaves. Wow. I was blown away by the taste from the first bite. The crab cake was heavy on the crab in chewy chunks and unusually enough had chunks of potato as well. The change in textures from the chunks of crab/potato flesh and the creamy mix of both that held it together was a change and one I quite liked. The surface of the cake was browned and crunchy adding another texture layer and managed to avoid that slight charred taste when left on a tad too long to cook (which was impressive given the thickness of the cake). The mango salso provided a cooling contrast to the sharp spiciness of the chillis blended into the crab cake. The only thing I can find at fault is that the crab cake was just not big enough (it was huge...about 15 cm in diameter and 5 cm thick) as it was that tasty. I topped it off with a slice of chocolate cake that was slightly dry but when had with the hazelnut ice cream (amazing...I want more of that) was sufficiently good that I cleaned my plate of that too. Overall, it's a bit pricey but the food quality makes it worth it. If only the service was a little better I'd give it 5 stars but it's just not quite there yet. read more

I am generally a very clement and kind reviewer, but this was single-handedly the worst brunch of my entire life, and I am a repeat offender of Brunch-time! -Staff was grumpy, unhelpful and absolutely terrifying to deal with -The food was barely mediocre. My eggs benedict had no hollandaise to speak of and the pancakes, the PANCAKES, the world's easiest food to make, were not pancakes. The maple syrup was also not maple syrup by any stretch of the imagination. It was a sugary crapathon concoction of sorts. -The bloody marys were a joke. For brunch I give this place 4 stars. My gym is across the street, and after a hard workout I can't bother to walk any further than 202, but that's okay, the food is actually pretty delicious, even if there is a 15-20 minute wait in line on most weekends to get a table. I love their salads, they are all large and filling as a main, especially the chicken Caesar and the specials. There is always a curry, soup and salad of the day along with a few other mains. The eggs are always a hit, and I LOVE the cauliflower gratin -- so cheesy! The fish tacos seem to be popular and I think they're just okay, but again I am pretty serious about my fish tacos. I can't imagine anyone not finding a good dish for their mood here, 202 has it all. If you're in the 'hood on the weekend, this place is always a good option, plus you can shop in the connected Nicole Fahri store while you wait for you table! Oh, and in the summer, it is also the perfect restaurant to sit outside in the front, but you have to be lucky to get a table, once someone sits down they're unlikely to move for the rest of the afternoon as it is the perfectly sunny spot! ;) read more

202 is a really cool place to take someone who is visiting London. The crowd is nice and the service is quite good. Unforunately there are two serious problems with it: 1. The menu is hit and miss; only few items are up to the task. The rest do not belong to a serious restaurant. 2. It is ridiculously crowded, unless you go rather early. And if you go early, by the time you will be done there are going to be quite a few people waiting for a table, which puts a bit of stress to leave the place. When I first passed this place, I was confused. Does this place sell Nicole Farhi designs or is it a restaurant? Whhaaaaaat??? The next time I came around, I decided to venture in. It turns out that 202 is a restaurant...attached to a clothing boutique. Given that, the restaurant itself has a very casual atmosphere---it looks more like a cafe. We enjoyed an early supper at 202, and I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I ordered a crab cake on a bed of salad, and it was not only very filling, but delish! The green chili added a nice kick to the crab cake. My gentleman companion ordered what turned out to be a rather large fajita plate, and actually downed the entire thing. I had a taste, and while it was also very good, it was nothing particularly special or original...just a very well executed grilled chicken fajita. The primary negative is the somewhat inconsistent service. In the beginning, we had two waiters paying us quite a bit of attention and ready to take our orders. After our orders actually came, both of these waiters had disappeared, and it was a bit difficult to flag someone else down. Still, the prices were reasonable (for the Notting Hill area), and I would say the overall value was very good. Although we had supper here, my impression is that 202 is more of a brunch joint. It's constantly packed on weekend mornings. I will definitely be back sometime to try that brunch! read more

We didn't wait long to place an order and drinks and food came fast - food super fast. Our meals were a-ok. Scrambled eggs and bacon were moist. The fruit, granola and yogurt was good. Although I definitely got jipped on the fruit as other orderers got more than I did and they had mango (I love me some mango). It was a little dense, so much so I didn't finish it. But I would still order it again. And go back here again. The menu has both traditional and more interesting options, but what made me want to high-five them was that they serve brunch until 4pm!! Awesome work. I chose the traditional route and was very happy with my eggs florentine. The date wasn't going badly either so we lingered over some tasty cappuccinos too :) My only niggle otherwise was that the staff all seemed to be rushing around far too much - out of breath whenever they stopped at the table and seemingly in a hurry to move on to the next. Brunch here is amazing! I went there just last week, I got there really hungry, and we had to wait a bit to get our table but once we sat down we where asked for our drinks. While these arrived I was drooling looking at other peoples plates, trying to decide what to order, it was a bit of an ordeal, but I settled for the lamb hamburger, while my boyfriend ordered the French Toast with bacon. We tried to order from the guy that brought the drinks, but he was a bit rude, and said in a French accent "No, zu cangt ogder fgrom me, I only zoo dgrinkhs". Finally we ordered, from the right waiter, food came after a good while, or so it seemed. My burger was delicious and my boyfriends' French toast was delicious as well. Why is 202 such a popular place around Notting Hill? Maybe it has to do with the decent coffee they serve, or perhaps it's the fact that its a cafe nestled amongst a normal store? I like to think that it's the great food that they serve and the bright, yet cosy atmosphere they serve it in. I like to frequent this place for a brunch to catch up with friends, or just a place to read the paper if I happen to have a day off during the week. My favourite dish off their breakfast menu is the French Toast, complete with an amazing bacon strips, thick cut bread dipped in especially yellow eggs combined with the sweet nectar that is maple syrup. Admittedly not everything is as reasonably priced as anyone ordering fresh juice, or bottles of water will find out, however it's still a great place to visit. Although it was missing some of the ingredients, the ones presented, were amazingly fresh and tasteful. But to me, the biggest surprise was my girlfriends dish. I was surprised to find that the most popular dish in the menu are the fish tacos. My sister, who lives in New York and knows her tacos found that they tasted like fish and chips, with battered and fried fish inside, a very vinagre-ey pico de gallo sauce and mediocre salad on - listen to this - ordinary flour tacos that tasted like Mazo balls. What happened with using fresh corn tortillas? My French Toast looked like a bloated orange piece of bread. I am not sure about this place, Maybe there is a reason why we never come back. I'd always known it was there and I'd always wanted to try their brunch but because of reasons never managed to. A few days ago, on the sunniest day a friend and I decided to try it out. I was kinda upset the outdoors tables were all taken but the waiters introduced us to the magical back lil space where you can dine in peace and tranquility. Just lovely! The food was great two and having ordered two mains and three sides, when the total came out to be £45 or so we were quite satisfied. The food was VERY good and the portions substantial. I was only pretty annoyed by the fact that we had to keep asking for an ashtray and tap water at least three times before they came, while the two tables next to us, having ordered still water, got served straight away. 3 stars because of this and because of the *ugly shop inside! Went here for brunch with a friend last weekend. The line was around the corner so come prepared to wait. I really wanted to try this place because I think the concept is very cute - a cafe in the middle of a boutique - fabulous! I was sadly disappointed. The food was good but not great and the service was rushed, not attentive. We shared the pancakes, eggs and papas bravas. All were ok but were served lukewarm. Food (French Toast w/bacon & scrambled eggs on toast) was good and staff was very efficient with the exception of the waiter who seated us and eventually took our order. Staff really nice, even playful with kids - food is easy and delivered quickly. Water jug comes without asking for it - rarely does this happen in London.
