The atmosphere is really nice and there's plenty of seatings - big community tables, small tables and high-tables that allow you to look out of the window. I didn't pay much attention to the food selection, but there was quite a nice array of different beverages - cold and warm alike. The only downside for me was that it was packed with Mommies and their screaming kids...but I just plugged in my earphones and tuned out the whining noises. Try it out, it's for sure refreshingly different from the nearby Cafe Rouge...

The pastries and freshly baked goods are spread all over the counter in neat arrangements. Most of the cakes are displayed at the window and really make passerbyers salivate. The place is also family friendly with a change table across the toilet and toys around the eating area. On my first visit, I had one of the best hot chocolate I've ever had. The eggs benedict was a decent portion size and satisfying on a cold winter day. The day right after I couldn't help but go there again and had a generously filled smoked salmon crepe filled with cream cheese. Definitely will make this a local fav of mine!

Yesterday I had chickpeas with sausage and chorizo in tomato sauce, and it was delicious. Aldo Zilli's restaurants don't do bottled water anymore, just tap water.

It's a bit off the beaten path and is quiet as a result. I came here on a Saturday night and it was never particularly busy or loud, and there was a nice relaxed vibe with people just enjoying the food and drink they had going. Drinks wise they had a decent selection but nothing extensive, though a bottle of red Pinot Noir went down a treat at pretty decent value too. Service from the bar staff/waiters was also very good! Food wise, Juma is doing Iraqi style food led by the eponymous Philip Juma, and is a pretty decent (though not overly brilliant) menu. It's definitely a bit different from the usual middle-Eastern food that will come to mind when you read hummous and baba ghanoush, and it's more of a strange fusion between Greek and middle-Eastern stuff. Stand out dishes for us were the starters and the fish main. If you're in the area and looking for a nice drink, you could do far worse than the Cukoo. Great pub!

The menu is limited (and a bit pricey for tapas at around £8/dish) so I opted for the sauteed kales with peanut praline, croutons and bay milk. The dish was plated perfectly and yes is small (at £7.90). The kale was soft and buttery and the accompanying sauce really enhanced it. I enjoyed it but it wasn't the best thing I've ever eaten. I have to give kudos to the waitress though for being so good with service and being very cheerful. A rarity in London indeed.

Loved the ambiance as well as it's clear they've done their best to keep the original layout/feel which is lovely. But the real reason I'm writing this review is because the hostess who doubled as our waiter was so kind, accomodating and sweet with us and our 18 month old son. For those of you who have dined out with toddlers you know it's not for the faint of heart, but she was so helpful in replacing multiple dropped utensils and offering us the empty upstairs to let him run around whilst waiting for our food. Never once felt judged and she had a sweet moment of playing peek a boo with him. I didn't get her name, but as it's a small place it probably isn't hard to pick her out. Just wanted to give her due credit and appreciation. Will definitely come back next time we're in London.

But the menus listed the place as "Monmousseau", so I added both to the name of the listing. The space is pretty big. There are wooden booths in the back, and a piano in the middle for live music. Great for the atmosphere. Of course, they have cask ales (several available, in fact). The food was good. Loved the duck pate (they called it a parfait). It was served with raisin bread and very liver-y. Loved the taste combination, but they really should include more bread (they said they would but never did). The oyster fritters were also good, but expensive. Our waitress upsold us on ordering the larger portion, which was unnecessary. I think it was 26 GBP for a dozen of them. For my entree, I had the duck breast. It was cold, except for the drumstick. It was a bit bland, but otherwise good (and reasonably priced).
