If I could give them a no stars I would!!! Below is the complaint letter I sent to their HQ customer service department. Still awaiting a reply but only sent it today!
I was in Guildford Town and after just coming out of an interview I noticed the Tanning Shop Ltd, I have used your franchises before in a few locations and knew that it was a reputable brand. As I study in the area and am now moving to Guildford permanently to work I thought I'd open up and account, put some minutes on it, do 6 in the stand up sunbed, then head upstairs to the salon above and have a manicure... a great way to celebrate a successful interview!
But no! I walked in at 15:59 precisely all suited and booted and stood directly in front of the desk not more that 1ft away from two of the members of staff and waited to be greeted. They both ignored me for the best part of two minutes! One girl stood by the corner of the desk chewing gum and playing on her phone while the other sat at the actual reception desk doing something mesmerising the computer! They both did not acknowledge me and the shop itself seemed to have no other customers in it, so it's not like they were rushed off their feet!
After a few moments had passed I made a loud cough to get their attention and the girl sitting at the desk slightly glanced up and continued whatever she was doing on the computer! After what seemed like an eternity being ignored I simply turned around and walked out.... neither of them followed me or apologised! They did not seem bothered for my custom at all. For all they knew I could have been and inspector or a secret shopper for a reviewing organisation!
I was simply appalled! I have studied business management for 9 years and work in the business and management consultancy industry for 2 years. My free advice to you would be that these girls need disciplinary action, better training, better management and better monitoring! I am so thoroughly frustrated at the way I was treated. After I left I went and got my car, drove round to the front of the shop and took a picture as evidence of the slacking and very unprofessional looking work force there.
The girl originally standing by the desk was now right outside the front door smoking and still on her mobile, not a very good company image and you definitely don't want to walk through a cloud of smoke before entering a business. The girl behind the desk was still there engrossed in her computer and now what looks like a manager is propped up against the desk where the other girl stood!
This franchise is a joke and it is not the first time I have experienced shoddy customer service there! read more
