We stayed at the Tank Stream for the first week of March 2017.
Other than Hong Kong, I've never seen a smaller hotel room anywhere. It was as wide as a queen bed plus two nightstands, and as long as a queen bed plus a 3' walkway plus a cupboard/desk unit. The bathroom was small but not included in the tiny space, so we were happy. There was no room for our suitcases, so we stashed them in the closet, one on top of the other, and piled the blankets they displaced on the floor on one side of the bed.
The room was immaculate and we got very good service from the housekeeping staff. I got sick and spent three days in bed, so they snuck in when we vacated for that purpose on one of my sick days, and changed the sheets and towels and freshened the room.
We were on the 12th floor so somewhat removed from most of the street noise. But the windows didn't open, so there was no possibility of fresh air.
Your key card is required to make the elevator operate - inconvenient but a nice security feature.
We only had one breakfast in the hotel and it was fine.
The desk staff was 100% Asian and were very helpful. They lent us an umbrella on a rainy day and were quite concerned about me when I got sick We got several phone calls in the room inquiring after me.
My only issue was all the lights from the electronics in the room. Every outlet has a light, the phone lights up like a Christmas tree, and the room looked like Las Vegas when we turned off the lights at night. I travel with a sleep mask and it got a workout, but my husband had a hard time with all the light.
The location is superb. It's bang in the middle of everything. We loved the circular food court, chock-full of ethnic food from all over the world, under the business building next door, and ate our breakfasts there. It took us 15 minutes to walk to the Opera House and ferry and the restaurants and bars in that area. When I needed a doctor, the clinic was a block up the street and the pharmacy was across the street from it.
Aside from the tiny size, this was a comfortable, wonderfully located hotel and as I recall, the room rate was fairly reasonable as well. We recommend it. read more
