We stayed here for 3 nights our first time ever in Australia. The concierge and the support staff were excellent. The included breakfast was appetizing with a sumptuous buffet. The pool was gorgeous and the hot tub soothed our travel muscles. The steam room and sauna were comfortable. Another plus was the amazing water pressure in the shower! I'd landed in Sydney around 6PM on Sunday, March 17, 2019 and was grateful that a friend of a friend picked me up from the airport and dropped me off at Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney. The ride from the airport to the hotel was around 20 minutes or so considering there was no traffic at that time of the night. Most likely folks were resting to get back to work the next day. After checking into the hotel, I'd immediately took a quick shower and was on my way to scope out the city. The location of Amora hotel is in the middle of Sydney's Central Business District (CBD) and believe it or not..this is the area you would want to stay simply cause it's walking distance to pretty much all of the major attraction areas, bars, restaurants and much more. Finally, I made it back to my hotel and started to unpack a little, scope out the mini - bar and rested on my balcony. Since I was craving for food, I'd decided to do room service and ordered a margarita pizza pie before I called it a night. I stayed here for 6 nights and it was a wonderful experience. Although I was not in the hotel that much cause literally I had a full schedule each day. However, I must say my nights were restful and relaxing. The beds were very soft and comfortable and so refreshing. My room was kept clean and smelled pretty good. There was a lot of space in my room especially closet space. They provided a robe and slippers for me. The bathroom was huge and included a stand up shower which was delightful. There was also this big bath tub that you could or should use to unwind. The hotel allow you access to their pool, restaurants and bar. Most importantly the hotel staff were very friendly and treated me with such respect. I'd highly recommend staying at Amora hotel if visiting Sydney, Australia. read more

I had a very disappointing experience that may have been an anomaly based on the many positive reviews of the Amora but was still bordering on horrible. On the positive side, the hotel is very centrally located, near many shops and restaurants. The exterior is also quite nice. The room service dinner I had (nachos and chicken schnitzel) was excellent. So why two stars? One very poor situation that was handled poorly prompted this review as well as canceling a future stay. When returning from work on Tuesday night, I could not connect to the Internet. Long story short is it took them 2 full days to resolve the issue, leaving me with no Internet (a huge issue when on a business trip from Europe with no roaming). I tried on an iPhone, iPad and my PC, all had the same issues. When I called Guest Services (around 6:30 PM), they sent an "engineer." The Engineer spent the first 15 minutes trying to show me how to connect to the Internet, despite the fact this is not the first time I've connected a device to the Internet, I tried with three different devices so it was not a device issue and had successfully connected the previous morning and day. When he was finally convinced it was not user error, he said I had to wait until the next day since the IT people were not available that late. When I left the next morning, I reminded the front desk of the issue. I popped back to the hotel before lunch to have a note that I had to call their IT provider. The company, MovieLink, also made me waste 15 minutes showing them I knew how to connect. Eventually they realized there was a problem but the person I was speaking to could not fix it. I had to leave for work but was told it would be resolved that day. When I got back that evening, still did not work. After another hour with MovieLink, they realized it was the hot spot or router in the room that was broken and needed to be replaced. It was too late to do anything so they told me it would be the next day that it would be fixed. I got back the next evening and it was fixed, unfortunately that was 48 hours later and I lost significant productivity. The hotel did offer to move me the second day but moving hotel room is an inconvenience I did not want to deal with. In my opinion, a truly five star hotel would have --. Had an engineer initially who could test on their device whether the Internet was working. Never, ever, imply it is the guest's error (even if it is, you can resolve it later if you start with the guest is always correct) --. When it was not working, offer immediately to move me or bring in an expert (off hours) to get it fixed. --. Have hotel staff deal with the external vendor, not the guest. --. They should have provided compensation, not charged for a meal or a night. If a restaurant gives you even a disappointing drink, they comp it and try to make you happy. While this may have been an isolated incident, a couple smaller things reinforced that this is not a five star hotel --. When the engineer came up to fix the Internet, I also pointed out the TV remote was not working. As with the Internet, we spent 15 minutes with him trying to show me how to use the remote. Believe it or not, I know how to use a remote. Again, they had to replace the remote. It shows both bad equipment and the wrong attitude for the customer. --. On checkout, there was a long-distance call improperly billed to the room. I have not made a call from a hotel in about 4 years (has anyone?), yet again while they eventually rescinded the call they tried to make me feel like a villain. The issue was probably on the calls to MovieLink for the Internet, which were all connected via Guest Services. Sorry for the long review but when I give a two star review it is only fair to explain why. I would recommend another hotel in the same area (there are many options) and just cancelled a booking with the Amora Sydney in June for 8 nights. read more

Stayed here for 20 nights and got 1 night free when booking through Hotels.com, woo! Due to my long stay, the hotel was quite generous to upgrade my room from a King size room to a King bed suite!!! What an upgrade! This hotel is sort of in a random area next to George St (the place to be when in Sydney!), but I enjoyed the location since it was somewhat secluded... But was a bit inconvenient for Ubers to pick up people from this area since during the time (August 2016) George St was under major construction. This hotel has different levels with various amenities such as bars, restaurants, gym, pool, spa, etc; I only been to the bar and the bartenders are friendly and quite knowledgable of their liquor. Inside King Bed Suite came with a living room, 2 flat screen TVs, 2 windows (with not bad views), 2 couches, 1 king size bed, a large bathroom with 1 shower and 1 tub, toilet and sink. There is also a mini bar for you to access snacks, mini shots, and wine. The cost at the mini bar isn't too bad besides the mini shots... They can get quite pricey. I liked but also did not like how the maids would clean my room everyday despite the fact that I would put the the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign... I know it isn't a big deal but I just did not feel comfortable with having all my stuff out but see it to be moved due to the fact that the cleaning crew came in... So after awhile, I just packed all my stuff into my luggage for them to clean my bed. Other notes: - Lobby employees are so friendly. I feel very welcome whenever I arrive and leave. - Wifi in the room is good - Soap and shampoo brand is pretty good - does not dry out my hair (but I've heard the brand is actually a pretty good Australian brand?) - There is an adapter people can use located in the drawer of the mini bar... If stolen they'll charge you - Laundry service here is expensive as HELL... I cleaned about 14 items and it cost $120 USD. X_X I believe Wednesday mornings if received before 9AM you can receive a 15% discount which is what I did but $120 is still ridiculous - You cannot go up the elevator to the floor you desire without a keycard that belongs to that floor... This made it quite inconvenient to meet up my friend that was 3 floors below me... We'd have to meet in the lobby then go back up to her floor read more

Beautiful hotel located in the heart of Sydney's CBD a few blocks from The Rocks on a small side street is the Amora Hotel. A five-star-rated hotel complete with doorman, concierge and reception, marble floors, comfortable sitting area and bar. There is an indoor swimming pool with hot tub located on the third floor, a restaurant on the second floor, and reception rooms in the first. I arrived here with my husband around 10 am. For $55, we were able to check-in early and go to our corner room on the executive level, 34. Lovely city views, including from the bathroom- fitted with large bathtub. There is an option to lower a white screen in the bathroom and bedroom, with thick curtain in bedroom. No light or sound issues. Terry cloth robes and slippers provided. One towel per person in the bathroom. Would have liked one more without special request. No bubble bath- so if you do stay here, bring or buy some! Simple amenities including shampoo, conditioner, lotion, two small bath soaps. Nothing impressive in selection. There is a mini bar filled to the brim, so no room for take away containers. Only complimentary beverages- tap water, tea and instant coffee. Ended up staying here two nights due to flight cancellation. Tea hadn't been restocked from previous night. The manager, Jasmine, was very helpful and professional. There is a bit of inconsistency amongst front desk staff members, who could significantly benefit from her guidance. For example, when I advised a staff member of the smell of smoke on the 34th floor, she debated with me. Amora is a nice hotel in great location. Why do you go to a hotel? To munch on kettle chips while sitting in a hot bath reading the New Yorker at 3 in the morning with the murmur of the TV in the background. That is why you go to a hotel. So, by those standards, is the Amora Hotel Jamison a good one? Oh yes. We found this hotel on lastminute.com and in good faith went for the 'secret hotel deal'. I was hoping for The Hilton, or The Intercontinental maybe, and it turned out to be some hotel I'd never heard of. Certainly not a great way to start your 4pm happy hour. The hotel is in the middle of the city (150 meters from McDonalds and all of that jazz) which, if you've got your head blinkers on, tells you your car is inexpensively looked after (in the city!) in their hotel parking lot for the next 24 hours. First star. You walk in - after enduring a slightly scary ride on the small elevator leading you up from the carpark - and, well, while the Four Seasons hotel chain will never be bumped off the real estate block for this one, it ain't half bad. In fact, it's great if you like the feel of no-funny-business hotels. There's the standard concierge and the standard eating and drink precinct and the standard 6-8 elevators all capable of taking you to your floor. The room is still standard yet again but nonetheless always rises to the occasion so you never forget you're not at home. You get white throwaway slippers! And you get to sleep on a bed that is so comfy! And you have a little refrigerator that stocks devil food! And you get a secretary (or at least front desk)! And you get an open shower! One side note: if you get my room (sorry, that's all the detail I can give you at this point) don't open the blinds. You're going to look straight into a horribly boring building. read more

We stayed here for the last lag of our trip for a couple of nights. The service was good, and the price was reasonable. It's conveniently located, but kind of tucked away. You can get to the Wynyard train station from Jamison, the same street the hotel is on but only certain hours that the shops and stores through the Metro are open. The room is clean, but the bed is a little soft for my taste. Some of the furniture is worn down, but still nice where you get the bathrobes and slippers, but no free water bottles which we did have at the other hotels we stayed at in Sydney and Melbourne. It's unfortunate that they don't have ice machines on the floor, and that you have to ask for it as I feel like we only needed a glass and needed to trouble the front desk and call to have them bring that to us. read more

Didn't try their restaurants due to the bad reviews I read, but it was convenient if you can afford it. Quite expensive but you get what you pay for. I had a chance to stay here for a couple of days. The rooms are pretty large and very nice. I had a large king size bed and the washrooms were also massive with a separate shower and tub. The best part is that the hotel is located in between many things including The Rocks and some of the core shopping and nightlife districts. Maybe it's because some of my hotel experiences in the US have been nothing short of terrifying, but I was absolutely amazed and happy with this hotel. We stayed there two nights at the beginning of our Australia trip and decided to stay there again the last three nights. The rooms were clean and comfy, the staff was very friendly (we got there early (9 am after 28 hours of traveling) and they allowed us to use their spa showers to freshen up. I also loved their bathtub and actually took two baths in there the 5 days we spent there. Their breakfast buffet was great (although after the the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne, this one wasn't as good .. but before the Melbourne experience it was one of the best breakfasts) they had so much fresh Passion Fruit .. I couldn't stop eating it. The location is wonderful, especially during the week. Conveniently located at the train station. There's a nice little food court next to the hotel (apparently only open during the week though for CBD employees I'm assuming). We walked everywhere from this hotel. The Rocks were close. Also it was extremely well priced on Priceline for it being such a high rated hotel and it being Vivid Weekend. I feel like we were seriously spoiled .. Their Internet is complimentary and I had a Falafel Burger for room service one night and that was very delicious.. If I could give this hotel 10 Stars, I would! read more

My 19th story corner room had obstructed views of the Sydney Harbour, but lacked a view of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. The staff were attentive and friendly. The room la led adequate lighting, made more puzzling by a funky central led controlled lighting system. The breakfast buffet at the restaurant costs AUS $37, though they offer a concession at AUS $20 if you request a breakfast ticket at the reception by 23:00. (You're better off heading down the street to the food court at Wynyard Station.) All in all, a pleasant albeit expensive place to stay. With the cost if you want to be a few minutes' walk from Sydney Opera House, The Rocks and Sydney Harbour Bridge. read more

My priorities for any hotel are location, comfort, and quiet. The location is great, with easy walks to the circular quai, and the rocks areas. The mattress is extremely comfortable; soft and at the same time providing good support. Room temperature was easy to regulate. Nice hot shower, and ample toiletries. As for the noise level, we heard very little from the corridor, other rooms, or the street. We were on the 15th floor, but there are over 30 floors with improving views and decreasing noise levels as you go up. The spa area offers a pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room along with spa services. The gym is small but well equipped. The concierge service in the lobby was helpful in orienting us, and offering tour options. The staff was friendly and efficient. If you are coming from the airport, the T 8 green train takes you to the Winyard station which has a Jamison St. exit a few meters from the hotel. Enjoy this hotel. We did. read more

I really wish I could give a higher rating because the hotel and the comfort level of the rooms were wonderful. The rooms were spacious, bright, and very modern and clean. The front desk was attentive and welcoming as well. However, our experience at breakfast really ruined our entire stay. Two girls. Dressed nicely. On vacation. Walked into breakfast/dining area. No one greeted us. No one acknowledged us. People in suits stood behind us, they were greeted and seated first. The host never came back for us. Ok, so we seated ourselves. It was a buffet so we got food on our own. I finished my entire first plate, and no one came to ask us for our drinks or if we wanted to order anything. Yet, the men in suits who sat at the table next to us were constantly attended to. I finally had to speak up and asked a waitress nicely if we could get some coffee. 5 minutes. 10 minutes. 15 minutes later. Still no coffee. Pretty disappointed that they would treat their business guests with higher priority than everyone else. Other stuff to mention: If you are coming from the train station and carrying heavy luggage, there is a slight uphill trek you'll have to make. Great location in the CBD. Stayed here for two nights and loved the room. Very spacious for traveling abroad and the bed was fantastic. Our room's windows overlooked the city...otherwise known as the neighboring building and that floor's construction workers. But with the light blinds down you got ambient light and privacy. The bathroom was luxurious and you better believe I slid right into that tub...would suggest a bath bomb in the toiletries, but I made do. Also, found the concierge very knowledgeable and helpful. And the hotel is walking distance to lots of great sites including Circular Quay, Sydney Opera House, and the ferries!! I only stayed here one night and my room was so comfortable. I wish that I had stayed here more nights. I had one of the best nights sleeps ever here. The hotel is really nice but also stuffy too. There are several places you can walk too from here, so you will not feel trapped in your room. I write this review sitting, nay, sprawled out on my king sized bed in my upgraded 32nd floor suite overlooking the city... The comfiness of the bed is a testament to how wonderful my stay here has been on my extended business trip. With the upgraded suite comes the perks of not having to purchase breakfast, coffee or after work drinks -- it is all provided at e Jamison club on the floor below. The hotel staff have been nothing but helpful the whole time, opening doors, bringing up ice buckets and wine glasses and making sure the room is clean to meet my somewhat OCD standards. You just don't get that service elsewhere these days, everyone is busy taking care of more important guests. I take away one star because there have been bits and pieces that have issues, like the light bulb bursting, the thermostat acting up occasionally and the fact that my previous room had a lovely view of... the office building opposite the hotel but considering the central location and the fact that it's a dream to get to places, can't wait to come back! read more

Stayed here for about 5 days following a conference I was attending in Sydney. The hotel and staff were very accommodating and I was very pleased with my stay here. With my stay I was granted access to the breakfast and bar lounge which had an great selection for breakfast and early evening drinks. I found myself stopping here before dinner almost every day. The room and amenities were top notch and I was very pleased with the overall experience. In comparison to other hotels in the area, my room was bigger and more up to date for the price I paid. Would recommend to anyone staying in the CBD as Amora is very close (walking distance) to most of Sydney's attractions. My only complaint would be the Hotel Restaurant. We stopped in one night and there was only one server on staff and the food was underwhelming. It was ok for a hotel restaurant food but I would not recommend it given the many choices in the area to eat. That said, the overall experience was fantastic and I would surely stay again given the opportunity. read more

Beautiful room with a gorgeous bathroom, separate soak tub and glass shower. Very modern. The gym was terrible though! Old equipment that was all broken and didn't work, and the room was half the size of a guest room, just awful. Nice hotel if you book it thru Hotwire. But otherwise very expensive, $35 each for breakfast, and $5/each water in your room. Not great. The location is great though, you can walk directly to the Circular Quays, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Take a ferry to Watsons Bay, eat fish and chips at Doyle's and you'll be in heaven read more

Choice of hotel is important for any trip, perhaps especially for honeymoon as it sets the tone of what "home" would be for the time being. I'm sad to share that our honeymoon is ruinned in the lodging arena due to our poor choice of a hotel. While the location is great for us and the staff is nice, I'm continually disgusted with the bathroom. I was told the rooms were renovated two years ago. However, it's not clear the tiles have ever been washed. In fact, this looks more like the bathroom of a public park and not that of a five-star hotel. We were going to just deal with it, but then the shower drainage had issues and water overflown out of the shower to drain in the middle of the bathroom floor. I'm guessing the hotel is rated five-star due to location only. unfortunately we booked non refundable. if only money was no object... we'd so leave and go elsewhere. They ended up moving us to another room, a smaller room I should add.... I have no expectation of this place anymore, just hoping the shower won't be a problem tonight. Don't stay here - the customer service is abysmal. When I made the reservation 6 months ago (for 4 people), I was told that our room would have 2 queen-size beds. But they aren't queen-sized. In fact, they are even meaningfully smaller than standard double beds. When I complained, I was told (by the manager) that I was wrong - "they are queen-size beds." It simply isn't true. So then I asked for a rollaway bed. But all of those had been taken. The upshot is that 2 of the 4 people will need to sleep on the floor. (2 of our group are above 6'4".) So I asked for some sort of extra mattress. Request denied. Then I asked for a discount on the room. (We had prepaid.) Request denied. Then I asked for an alternative room. Request denied. Then I asked for an additional room. Request denied. I was offered a bottle of wine, but since I don't drink that wasn't very helpful. What a terrible hotel. read more

I had a great experience at the Amora Hotel! We arrived at around 7am and somehow they were able to get us into a room in advance of check-in which was so nice after a night of flying. The front desk was super helpful, though the concierge didn't provide the best advice in my opinion. the room was great - no complaints and we got it at a great price! I can't find the Croft restaurant or Silo bar on any site so I'm leaving my review on the hotel. Both were SLOOOOOW. It took over a hour to get water at Croft. We had our meals before water and one was cold and the other hot. Silo 20 minutes to get a drink. I guess they are new??? read more

The Amora Jamison Hotel was a pretty nice hotel in the center of Sydney and fairly close to some major sites. The accommodations were good but the reason for my average review was the restaurant in the hotel. We went there for dinner and literally waited for 90 min for our food. The sad part was that there were only 2 other people in the dining hall. We also had to flag down the waitress and ask how much longer. At what point do you just up and walk away...I was tempted to do so when she said let me go check on the food but she came out 5 min later with our order. I'm wondering if we didn't ask if she would have gone to check up on our food order. Not once did she come by and ask how is everything....she stopped by the other patrons table 5 times to ask how is everything going? Even when they brought out the food they didn't even say I'm sorry for the delay but here is your food. And to make the whole situation worse she was angling for a tip when I paid the bill. Heck no lady am I tipping you for incompetent service. All in all the hotel no bad but don't eat at the restaurant unless you want to sit and wait FOREVER. read more
