I booked The Taco Bar for my sister's going away party with about 50 guests. From the initial phone call inquiring about pricing to packing up after the party, Victor delivered great customer service. I found about 10 highly rated taco catering companies in the LA/OC area and planned on calling them all for best pricing. The Taco Bar was first on the list and the only place I called. Victor was very thorough and knowledgeable during our phone call. He made sure to educate me on the quality of different cuts of meat and the best cooking processes for meat. One thing that Victor emphasized was that they do not cook with oil so the food is not greasy like most other taco places. We talked for about 25 minutes, and I booked with the Taco Bar. Pricing was very fair. They showed up on time to the event and had great interactions with guests. Everyone was happy with the food and agua fresca (horchata). We had leftovers and Victor gave me some tips on how to use them (ie. Beans with eggs in the morning, Horchata popsicles). I'm so glad we went with The Taco Bar for my 30th birthday celebration, and my guests were too. I lagged a bit on planning, but they were still able to book with us less than two weeks in advance for a party of 50. Victor was so thorough over the phone when explaining their methods and the quality meats they use, he spent nearly half an hour making sure I could understand what to expect from them. I had priced out other vendors, and The Taco Bar was pretty close to what others had quoted us, so we went ahead and booked with them. The day of the event, the caterers showed up early and began working right away. I appreciated the professional shirts and ball caps they had on, and they both spoke English. They cook everything on site. Little details like the thinly sliced jalapenos and the separate serving spoons for the different meats were nice touches that left me impressed. The food was phenomenal. I think everyone went back for seconds and possibly thirds. The chicken was the biggest crowd pleaser. We had a lot of food and salsa left over, which we continued to enjoy all week. I would use The Taco Bar again. They are also opening a restaurant over on Mulberry, which may be a good way to "sample" the food if you are having hesitations. We will definitely be checkibg it out. Great experience with these guys/gals. Used them for a high school admissions event involving 200 people. Vic planned the event with me over the phone while Teresa was the on-site person in charge. Truly a first class operation!! If you need a taco bar caterer, hire them!! PROS -Very reasonable prices. -On time arrival, courteous and professional to our guests throughout the event, they wear matching uniforms (nice!). -All the food/supplies are included in the price: all the taco meats, full salsa bar, rice, beans, chips, guacamole, plates, utensils, napkins, etc. -With 200 guests, the line moved fast. On 2/14/14 I scheduled the taco bar for my mom's 50th birthday party on 2/22 As requested, I paid a $50 deposit via paypal the same day that I scheduled them (2/14). They told me that they would be there at 6:00pm to begin serving at 7:00pm. On the night of the party, I waited until 6:20pm for somebody to show up or even call, but neither happened. I finally ended calling at 6:30pm and spoke to the owner who had none of my information for the party, but he saw my paypal receipt in his email!! I guess that was all that mattered to him? Anyway, he said he didn't know what happened to the drivers and took all of my info down and my order (types of meat and beans for the party) and said he would call me back. He called me back about 15min later and told me that the truck that was en route to our party was in a car accident. I felt bad for them, but he said he hadn't spoken to his workers...that he had called chp and they said that there was an accident and it sounded like his truck. Hmm...okaaaay. He said he would make the food for the 50 guests we had invited, but he wouldn't be able to make the carnitas that we ordered because it would take too long...so we changed our order to asada, al pastor, and chicken. The owner called me two more times telling me that he was on his way two different times. He also told me that he would give me $50 off this event and free fish tacos if we hire him again. Finally around 8:00pm two of his workers showed up...not the owner like he had said. Around 8:30 they started to serve us our asada, chicken, and CHORIZO tacos. Chorizo?! Wth?! They swore it was al pastor, but my whole Mexican family was asking why we were given chorizo tacos. It was just greasy chorizo in a tortilla...with a side of rice and cold beans. By 9:30pm they told is that they had ran out of asada. Really?! Now we have a choice between bland chicken or greasy chorizo?! We called the owner to complain and he tried to explain that asada always runs out first. Umm...that would make sense if 50 people were there at the time. Some of our guests hadn't even eaten yet!! When it was time for them to leave, we only gave them what we felt they deserved...$150 which with the $50 I out down would be $200...for them being two hours late, not having carnitas or pastor, cold beans, and serving us chorizo. Around midnight, the cops showed up to our door because the owner had called the cops demanding more money. He then started to lie about what they served then said he knew it was chorizo. He also said he still hadn't spoken to his workers that had supposedly gotten into an accident...super fishy. He kept insisting that the only discount he would give us would be for the next time we use them. Umm....no...we are NOT using you again so we don't need a future discount. We ended up giving him only an extra $100 because he wouldn't stop arguing in front of the cops. Terrible experience with them. Awful. read more

I'm not sure what was better the food or the excellent service! I ordered the Carnitas, Carne Asada and the Chicken tacos with fresh pinto beans and rice for 50 people. There was plenty of food cooked fresh and delicious salsas and grilled onions. The meat was quality! No grizzle or fat, tender and perfectly seasoned! All the guests complimented on how delicious and grizzle free the tacos were! And the rice! So good!!!! But Vic was the best! So easy to work with, fun and mingled with our group! I can't wait for my next gathering! I think he may have to be a part of them all! He cleaned up after! Plus if there is any food left over he gives you it since you paid for it! I needed a Taco Bar for a company lunch of about 20 people. I found a few prospects on Yelp, and The Taco Bar had a high rating and a lot of 5 star reviews that seemed real and sincere. I called and spoke to Victor and the price was right, so I took a chance and hired them. I'm glad I did! Victor told me over the phone that they use sirloin and not lesser cuts of beef, and that their food is not greasy like others. This was absolutely true. When I asked the COO of the company what he thought of the food, he commented that the meat was good quality, and "not what you normally see on Taco Trucks." He thought the food was good. So did the President. So did the Vendor sales rep who was buying. He even came up and thanked me for finding such a good lunch to bring in. The sales reps took cards to recommend and use. I didn't hear a negative word from ANYONE. So how did I find the food and the service? At first glance I was worried that they might not have brought enough, but there was plenty of everything and lots that they bagged for us afterwards. Lunch tomorrow! I particularly liked the rice, which was soft and fluffy and very tasty. I'm not able to tolerate spicy foods, and the chicken was right up my alley - delicious and not spiced up. To me, the beef and pastor had a bit of a kick to it (probably not to most people - remember, I can't do spicy...), but it wasn't too much and I could eat it. They brought in chopped raw onions, cilantro, limes, and chilis, as well as mild green salsa (I used lots - it was really mild!), spicy salsa, and grilled onions. I didn't have beans but those that did liked them. They had bits of bacon and chilis in them. They also provided the forks and plates. They were on time, didn't take up much space, cooked everything on site, served us all, and people went back for seconds, thirds, and more. If you have an event, hire The Taco Bar. I had the difficult task of putting together a Celebration of Life for my Husband. We live in Arizona and I was having the Celebration in Whittier, CA for family and friends. I knew I wanted to keep it simple. Since my Husband loved tacos, I decided to go with a Taco Cart. I researched and found The Taco Bar. I called and talked to Victor, what a pleasant man to do business with. He was already familiar with the Facility I was having the Celebration at, and instead of having the cart, we decided they would bring the meat already cooked and set up in the room. I called him several times before the event and he was always available to answer my questions. The week of the Celebration I spoke with Teresa and she was just as pleasant going over the time, menu and the Servers. They arrived and were set up 20 minutes before the start of the event, I didn't have to worry about them at all, very professional and personable as they served. Thank you Joshua and Emily. The food was fantastic, A lot of my family and friends asked me how I found them and what made me decide to hire them since I was putting this together from Arizona. I had no complaints about the food. My Mother, who is Hispanic and does not eat at Mexican Restaurants, because they don't know how to make authentic Mexican food absolutely loved the food. I just had the taco bar cater for my work function and everyone said they love them. They got there on time and set it up and we're ready before everyone got to the event. Michael and Marcos were our cooks and they were super friendly. The meat was good not full of fat the chicken need a little bit more flavor but was not fatty. The rice and beans were good and they said they weren't made with lard. The veggies that we ordered as well were delicious and the 2 different types of salsas weren't too spicy which is great for my event. Contacted this business for my daughter's 16th birthday party. It's a small family business, and they work hard and take pride in their work, from the person who makes initial contact, to the folks who serve. We had asada, chicken, and carnitas for 50, and everybody had their fill. The DJ was a little sad at first, because everyone was hanging out at the taco bar. The 2 guys who showed up were exactly on time, set their things up quickly, cooked the delicious meats as promised, were very friendly, and cleaned up. We also got some leftovers.Totally worth the price. Looking forward to doing business with these folks again. If you've seen the one negative review on these folks, I have a hard time believing the reviewer. Everything these folks do from start to finish is customer-oriented. They are pros. I hired The Taco Bar guys to cater a house warming party for clients I sold a property to a month ago. As a Realtor anybody I hire to work for me whether it's to stage a home, do yard work, clean a house prior to a client moving in or cater a party after a sale, which I always do for my clients, reflects on me .Victor and Mike showed up on time, cooked the food on site, it smelled delicious, they were ready to serve exactly when we had asked them to, condiments were delicious, the meat could not have been more flavorful. Victor is very proud of his business and told me all about how they became a company. We discussed the one bad review that he has on Yelp. You know you're dealing with somebody who really cares about pride of ownership when the one bad review hurts him way more than the pride he gets from all the good reviews. The one bad review sounded like somebody that just wanted to get something for nothing. If you ask him about it he'll tell you the whole story. Bottom line I will hire these guys again. Everybody at the party, 30 plus people, completely enjoyed the food and all said they would hire them, and I know he will get some business from some of those folks that were at the party. We used The Taco Bar on June 1 2013 for a housewarming party. I researched many taco caterers and kept seeing mixed reviews for all of them, most alarmingly reviews that said the caterer failed to show up! So, I was very concerned about making the right choice. I came across this business and while there was only one review it was a very positive review plus they stress in their website that there are no hidden costs. I called and spoke to Victor. He was very patient and accommodating with my questions etc. I chose my package...complete with some grilled vegetables for vegeterians at no extra cost(!). That was all there was to it. I got a confirmation email a few days before the event (I made the required $50 deposit beforehand to hold the reservation). They (2 terrific employees) showed up even earlier than the specified time and got busy doing their thing. The food was fantastic! Everyone loved the tacos, beans, rice etc! The Taco Bar catered our housewarming party about a week ago and the neighbors are all still talking about how fantastic the food was! I called approximately 5 "Taco-Man" type of catering companies and was not very impressed with any of them although there were one or two that I was contemplating going with. My last call was to The Taco Bar and within the first minute, I knew that I had found what I was looking for. Not only priced competitively, they really had everything I was looking for: three choices of meat, multiple salsa's, chips, guacamole (extra), rice & beans and they were even able to accomodate my request for some vegeterian options which was great! I was also very impressed about their knowledge of food safety and limitations for how long food can be kept out before it is no longer good. On the day of the event, two guys showed up on time and did a great job of setting everything up and having the food ready to go at the time we had planned for. The two guys were very professional and many of the guests at our party were very impressed with the overall set-up and of course, the tastiness of the food. To top it all off, the two guys helped to pack up all of the leftovers for us and did a great job of cleaning up. We had a party planned for 40 guests and we had 40 people show up and there was more than enough food to go around. We even had a secondary taco party the next day so our neighbors could come back over and help us with the leftovers! Kudos to The Taco Bar, we'd use them again and I'd highly recommend them to anybody.
