As such, it seems to appeal less to old-fashioned punters than it does to younger, or more affluent people. It is most definitely not a "waterhole". I had one of the best real porters there, the remarkable Titanic Plum Porter. The beers at The Hare are fresh and well-kept, the bar staff is more of the hipster-ish kind that seems to come with modern pubs nowadays. But it is a friendly place, and there are enough corners to hide if you need a little quiet space.

They also have a 'ballroom' that plays host to local live music, including young bands and up-and-coming musicians from the local area. As the young people in the area have considerably less to do than the urban kids on Manchester, this gesture should be appreciated. Just see the tasting notes on the menu. The menu is somehow concise but all encompassing. It ranges from a bowl of chips to a posh steak baguette. The shared platter is a particular treat and in no way will break the bank. An function room can be hired for special occasions with its own bar and optional buffet meals. I have to say, it was a really good steak. I have had better but this was really good. I did ask for it medium rare and you it was not quite as pink as I would have liked but the steak had lovely flavour and was moist and not dry. My mum had the prawn spaghetti which she said was ok - could have done with some sauce and maybe a few more prawns. My Dad had the burger which he said was good. I think Jasmine liked her food and water!
