Lots of Chico's and similar brands here. Clean. Fair prices. Friendly staff. Worth a look.

I can't wait to get back. I found a new favorite blouse and loved the store's colors and organization.

I had been looking forward to the grand opening of The Plus Closet since October, when I first…read moreheard that plus-size influencer Shannon Clemmons was collaborating with a seasoned business-owner to transform a vintage store into a PLUS-SIZE secondhand store. This place does not disappoint! There was a great selection of lots of different types of clothing, from formal dresses to workout sets to outerwear. There were brands I knew, like Eloquii, Ava & Viv, and Torrid, plus some I didn't know yet. My greatest surprise and delight happened in the fitting rooms, which are both equipped with fans!! This is clearly a space imagined by fat people for fat people (if you know, you know). I can't wait to see how the collection of clothing evolves once they start buying from the community next week. Even though the location is a little bit out of the way for me, this will definitely be a regular stop because it fills a niche that literally didn't exist in Nashville. I love that I'll be able to try clothes on in person instead of relying totally on online shopping and the sad in-store plus options offered at many big box retailers.

Today was the final straw. Though the dank smell of old cigarette smoke should have been a turn…read moreoff, I was in need of a dress, so I decided to shop anyway. No greeting from the proprietors, though I greeted them. They did agree to go through some items I brought with me, even though the process is usually to make an appointment. Sighing, they deigned to take a look at my clothes. I thanked them for reviewing my items without an appointment. Sorry to interrupt your convo, there was literally only one other person in the store, so I figured you'd have time. The signage around the store is pretty clear, so the dress I chose to try on I knew I would not get store credit for. When I dared to ask if I can try the dress on, they both quickly and sullenly let me know that that dress could not be bought on store credit. Cool, I can read. I merely wanted to try it on, and wasn't going to demand they let me use store credit. I have wracked my brain to every instance I have been in this store, to try to figure out why these two treat me like the garbage on their shoes. These two women had been super icy to me in the past - yes, I have been a customer there more than once - but today was the worst. Not only were they so icy today, it was almost hostile, the difference between the way they treated me, and the way they nicely interacted with both the woman who was checking out when I got there, and the woman who was shopping when I was checking out was glaring. You can keep your rip off level store credit - I will not be returning to your shop. You are not the only plus sized resale game in town. Surely, some others will be at least professional and kind. I do NOT recommend this store to anyone, the mean girls running it do not deserve your business. Fellow plus sized ladies, do yourselves a favor and look elswhere. I can only hope that karma comes around for them sooner than later

After first moving to Nashville, I was seriously disappointed with the thrift store options around…read morehere. Goodwill being one of the worst I've seen (they pre pick and filter through donations and sell the best online so you're left with sloppy seconds in the store, this goes for any Goodwill). Also, I'm not a vintage shopping kind of gal, which seems to be most popular around here. It's just not the kind of apparel I wear on the regular, but if I were to shop vintage I rather score a find for a fraction of the price at a thrift store. Ok enough about my particularities, but given all that, when I walked into Southern Thrift, I knew that THIS was my place. First, the selection is huge, it's not some small boutique thrift store. Secondly, everything is nicely organized by size and apparel type, and on a Saturday the store was pretty neat, well kept, and not crowded to my surprise. They price every item individually, rather than a flat rate for all shirts, or all pants which you normally see. I bought a super casual t-shirt for $1.99 and something a little fancier for $5.99. Makes sense, as there are variations in brands, quality, and style that should be taken into account when pricing. I'm anxious to check out their other two locations (2710 Old Lebanon Rd & 5010 Charlotte Pike) in Nashville. Between all of the locations, this should take care of my thrifting binges!

Prices are horribly high I think they priced stuff so high…read moreso that one is the 50% off day they can charge a regular price Very messy also
