In the pandemic days, it was the motivation to move my body when I just wanted to lay down all day. As I made incremental improvements and started moving regularly, the focus shifted to other aspects of my life that were related to movement: nutrition and sleep The important questions started-- why am I showing up to my workouts exhausted? Am I sleeping enough? How do I juggle the many different aspects of my life-- personal, work, caregiving, networking, etc? Am I eating enough? Am I eating regularly? Why do I go from 0 to 100 and go from not working out at all to workout out so much I could potentially get injured? We also focused on different types of movement: mobility, strength training, working on the areas of my body like my back and wrists that had sensitivities, stretching, and setting me up for success for things like run club. I learned about hormones and having my life style be adjusted to my menstruation cycle (more difficult strength training workouts during ovulation, focus on stretching and walking during luteal phase) It has been an incredibly challenging journey to face all of these aspects of my life and have these mindset shifts day by day and now year by year, but I know that I have Mari cheering me on and by my side every step of the journey to guide and support me. I'm excited to continue to work with Mari and I would highly recommend her programs

She is extremely observant and isn't afraid to deliver direct feedback when necessary for growth, but always does so with kindness. She's also an excellent pre and postnatal trainer, and her guidance was exactly in line with my PT's. When I first started working out with Parand, I had exercised sporadically over the years but nothing really stuck. My scheduled work-outs with her helped me get into the best shape of my life and begin to incorporate fitness as a regular and ongoing habit. Over this time, I also lost about 20 pounds and significantly increased my overall strength and flexibility. In the beginning, I took private classes as honestly I felt too uncoordinated and out of shape to work out in front of other people. Over time, I then graduated to her group classes. Both formats I enjoyed and found helpful. Parand has a wide repertoire of workouts, and it's always interesting. Parand is also just a lovely human being. It was always great to catch up with her during my classes. If you are trying to find new ways to be active, I really recommend starting with Parand as a first step.

I'd only started lifting weights about a year before joining, so I was basically a complete novice when I joined. But the scalability of the workouts made it so I could get an awesome workout while the coaches helped me to learn what I was doing. The owners (Nick and Steph) and the rest of the coaches are all really helpful and have awesome vibes. They are quick to correct you when you're not doing a movement properly, which personally makes me much more comfortable about avoiding injury. Class sizes are VERY reasonable - I have very rarely felt overcrowded in a class. In the end, joining RVC may be the best thing I've done for myself in recent history. The consistent exercise has not only helped me start looking better at the beach, but it's helped my overall mood and confidence. And you really can't beat that amazing post-workout feeling that you get with crossfit.

I accidentally gave Kimberly 5 stars but she is really barely a one star. When I was taking lessons, Kimberly was crying poor at every session and had a very resentful, chip on her shoulder attitude. I heard all about her mother, all about her daughter, and less about my form or my practice. The biggest was when I went out of town for a while and Kimberly knew when I would return and I would resume my regular day and time. Other pilates teachers understand that people go away and teacher's adjust and hold your spot. Kimberly did not do this (even though I have a text outlining all of this. She responded with a thumbs up). Kimberly and I spent time discussing this situation. And, she wanted to be paid for the time we spent talking about it! So very unprofessional. No apology, just a demand for payment. I paid her to stop the whining. I feel sorry for Kimberly, but she needs to learn how to treat people fairly. I have 2 great pilates teachers now that would never ever think of such a thing. They are actually better teachers also that you don't have to listen to complaints during your work out. Kimberly is so knowledgeable about the human body; she suggests alternate exercises when a traditional exercise might be too sensitive for an injury. It's also truly a pleasure to work with her.
