Yes the clientele is slightly on the rougher side, but really what do you expect in Merthyr Tydfil. But now, let me tell you a few things about the Wyndham that may come of surprise; the bar stock pretty much everything and anything, prices are god damn reasonable, the music is good and the place is generally very clean. So clean, customers even take their dogs there. Rough, scary looking beasts that once patted are as cute natured as a new born pup. The pub itself is big and airy and in general, a nice place to be. OK, the customers usually have no teeth and are completely plastered before the shops open but let me tell you now, what a bloody educating place the Wyndham is. Be warned, everyone will turn and look as you make your grand entrance, but once again, welcome to Wales! If your lucky enough to not get stared at and actually get involved with the conversation, i can guarantee, hands down, you'll have one of the best little afternoons of your life!

The Belle Vue is classed as one of Merthyr's more upper class establishments (yeah, i know, i'm…read moregiggling too.) Fair play, the place is very nice and airy not like some of the other pubs that clutter up Merthyr High Street. (naming no names, cough; the Vulcan?!) It used to be super pricey but since the recession, sensibly the place has knocked its prices down, ensuring the place is usually quite full. Customers tend to be the older type, so its good for couples or groups that just want a chat and a drink. Background music is played and the place generally has a nice atmosphere. I'm told the food is good and i know its reasonable because in my drunken stupor i told the bloke behind the bar that the menu looked good! But, as i've mentioned in earlier reviews; i'm a drinker, not a .... you know the score by now. Anyway if you happen to be having a wander round the town that is Merthyr Tydfil to call in the Belle Vue. Its nice!

I also had a pretty bad experience once in the ball pit in the inside play area. Now memories aside, i took a venture back, as an adult, you'll understand, to see what the place was really like and i was pleasantly surprised that the play areas weren't full of nasty dangers as my minds eye had believed but instead were colourful and cheery and well, FUN! The beer garden for this place is truly spectacular you'd never think you were nearly on the A470! It really is perfect for a summers day, although drinks are pricey and your pretty much miles from every-bloody where so make sure you book a taxi! Food is cheap and cheerful and not that special, service along the same sort of lines but the character of the building and dark yet pleasant décor inside make up for any of the crap'ness these chains seem famous for. All in all; brilliant for families, brilliant for sunny days and brilliant for something to do if super bored. I was there the other day and a man actually said the See you next Tuesday word pretty loud, and it was only twelve in the afternoon! The food always looks like its been thrown on your plate and i've had to take it back more than once. OK, so its a spoons and drinks are reasonable, food is reasonable but surely that doesn't mean they have to be crap. I'm not overly fussed on the staff in this place, having worked in another Wetherspoons, i'm sure i must have attended a completely different training session to these guys. All look like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders and all seem to rather be on their mobile phones other than in work. Cant blame them really they work long hours, for crap pay... i should know! Anyway if it's cheap nosh your after head over to Rhyd-y-car to the Dragonfly and if your after a cheap drink, although its out the way go to the Bali Glas! i first went here unexpectedly and probably wont be going back in a hurry!…read more Now after paying a bit too much for a beverage (cant remember which one exactly) I got cornered by some idiot in a tracksuit that continued to talk absolute nonsense about his mother for a good half hour before my boyfriend intervened. Now, expecting the worse i literally closed my eyes and hoped for the best but it turned out tracksuit kid had been in school with boyfriend and then he got cornered by him for an hour or so. Now, without putting my; i went to pony club, voice on the three horse shoes was a tad too rough for me. Filled with older women who'd been spray tanned (???) for their Saturday night out , this resulted in a god awful smell when mixed with alco-pops! Errrggghhh. Anyway, what can is say about inside? To be honest, i think i'll leave it at that. The floor is tiled, the walls are dark, it's all pretty boring! Thank god i only had the two drinks in there before departing with boyfriend and weirdly tracksuit boy who we popped in a taxi and sent to Spoons! Hell here i come!
