As it turns out, the Shoshone Market isn't the only gas station in the area, but you'd have to go off the highway and into Hadley (the company town for the nearby gold mine). The gas pumps here are dated back to when I worked for my Dad's gas station in NW Iowa. The displays were very analog and very cool. Plus you need to gas up first and then pay inside. Also, while out here, one doesn't question the per gallon price. They also have a deli counter where you can get fresh made sandwiches, that were really good. Pre-made food is also available too, but we were glad that we went for the custom choice. There's also plenty of drink, chip, and salad choices. The people making our sandwiches were friendly, as were the folks up at the front counter. And yes, the restrooms were clean and a much better choice that rest stop facilities and isolated road side detours.

The back in sites are a little weedy. And not as level. You pull in and go to the right and come around the back for the pull throughs. Plenty of room to turn with our 35 ft pulling a jeep toad. And sites are long enough to keep the toad hooked up. Recommend you call to reserve slot. He only takes cash or Zelle. If you get his voicemail he will call you back. Take note. The only store is champs which is a convenience store. And Austin is known as the city of churches. A lot of old churches and other old buildings.

I noticed one picnic table but there is a picnic and play area for small children. The restrooms are clean. The ladies room has a baby changing station. The ladies room has a sewer gas smell but again, it is clean. They have 10 sites on the upper east side of the building and more on the west side at a lower elevation, the street to access the west side is steep. The sites are above the road, our bedroom is up front so the noise didn't bother us at all. Full Hookups 50 amp for $35 per night. Call 775-722-7027 before unhooking.
