We had such an excellent experience, from our pickup at the Hyatt, through to drop off, it was a great round trip. We were really lucky to have Gregg as our guide, for a private trip with my 7&9 year olds. He was patient, kind, funny, and a great historian of the area. We had both a great ride and a great chat throughout. The kids were first time riders and paired with great horses - Cory & Addie. We also had a lot of fun feeding the horses and goats and donkeys once we were back-i've never seen the kids laugh as hard as when the goats stood on their backs! Thank you Gregg for such a memorable ride and for the highlight of our trip to New Mexico!

Great horseback riding experience! Dominick and Jasper are the best wranglers! We so appreciated their attention and conversation. The stable itself is doing amazing work with rescue and otherwise unwanted horses! A must do!

Amazing 90 minute experience! We'll organized, amazing staff and beautiful ride! Highly recommend if you want an authentic trail ride. Rode to the Rio Grade river and back. All the horses and riders were well behaved and fun Great scenery and fresh air! Don't hesitate to book because everyone of all experience levels felt comfortable. Will definitely be back in a couple years and bring my daughter when she's old enough to ride.

Star Guide Kiley!

As an equestrian whose been riding for over 15 years I was extremely impressed with this stable for multiple reasons. I'd also like to highlight Kiley who was a fantastic and understand guide. I had a very specific request, for my dad who has been terrified of horses since he was a kid to go on a trail ride with me. I called ahead and explain everything and they were extremely understanding and wanted to set him up for success. Advising for a shorter ride with a mini lesson before in a closed arena to help him start to feel comfortable before heading out. The morning of our ride I had never seen him this anxious in a years and we agreed on a safe word if it became too overwhelming for him that he had the option to opt out. Kiley was very patient and listened to his fears and assured him they would do everything they could to ensure his safety and confidence. She gave us time before even getting on for him to pet his assigned horse and get comfortable. He had pulled a muscle the day before and had difficulty mounting (he's also 70), and he asked to opt out. The team at the barn was really understanding- and helped organize to shuttle my parents back to the resort while I went on the ride solo. My dad who has clinical anxiety was extremely thankful that no one made him feel like he failed or pulled any cowboy ego bullshit to get him to get on. Which in my opinion in all my years of riding is the most important if you don't want to perpetuate any fear of horses or riding. My solo ride was great, one of their volunteers joined our ride and it was so much fun for me, an English rider, to get my cowgirl on. They catered my ride to my experience level and with the little extra time we had after the ride gave me the opportunity to try some barrel racing in the arena before heading back. I hadn't tried barrels since I was a teen! It was so much fun to give it another go and on a horse that had excellent training- Miss Adelaide Overall I would recommend this barn to beginner and advanced riders alike- I think the key to any successful trail ride is communicating the goals you have for in the saddle. And I really felt Kiley and their team not only heard me out but was accommodating. This barn is also full of lots of rescue horses which is also huge for me- there are a lot of great horses out there who simply fall through the cracks and need a good home and they are putting in the effort to give them a home here. All their horses also looked extremely healthy! Will absolutely be coming back on my next trip!

Had an overwhelmingly positive experience with The Stables at Tamaya while staying at the Hyatt. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We did the yoga and evening ride package and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We felt safe throughout. Felt authentic and not like a tourist trap; the ride was quite scenic! We were allowed to feed and pet the horses before/after our ride. Would recommend.

Beautiful property. Wish the Festival of Trees would be held here every year- they really know how to decorate for Christmas. (Oh, the chicken fajitas are delicious and whatever they put in that red chile raspberry jam they have). Plenty of wild animals from birds, hawks, deer, turkey, and even rattlesnakes. On the other hand, having the Stables here makes it even better. In the fall, there are carriage rides that take you along the rock cliffs and by the river. The sound of horse hooves hitting the dirt, fallen leaves, and some warm apple cider in hand. You can really tell how much the horses and this place means to Connie. She even rehabilitates horses and helps them get back on their feet (literally). I tried horseback riding here again (after a nasty horseback riding accident in WY). I was a little skeptical, but Connie's staff ensured I had a gentle horse picked out and became more comfortable. It was a gorgeous ride (once I was able to enjoy it), and we stopped along the river for pictures with our four-legged pals. For old or young, this is a place I would recommend learning about the balance of horse and man

My family and I recently went on a sunset trail ride with Dominic. From the very beginning, Dominic was extremely patient and helped one our riders who was very nervous about being on a horse. We were so impressed with the scenery, the calm nature of the horses, and our incredible guide, Dominic - such an impressive and kind young man with an incredible work ethic. We highly recommend this ranch for all types of riders.

Excellent! Paula…read morewas consistently in touch prior to the grooming. Our 17 1/2 year old guy needed grooming desperatley. Paula arrived early and when the appointment was over, our old dog looked like a pup (amost). Great experience working with Paula and I already want to book another appointment. Thank you Paula!

GOODNESS! The two ladies working today must have been fighting with each other when I tried to…read moredrop off my dog, they were TERRIBLE. I have a rescue dog that has never been groomed before. I called the other day to set up an appointment and told the nice lady on the phone this was our first time being groomed and wanted everything done. She gave me a price of $50 and set the appointment for 10 AM today. The problem started when I called from the parking lot to let them know I was there. The young lady who answered asked why I was there and I told her to get my dog groomed. She asked exactly what I wanted done and I told here "everything". She then started asking exactly what was I there for. What EXACTLY did I want done. I tried to explain that this was our first time and I wasnt sure what came with the grooming, but I wanted it all done. She handed the phone off to another lady for whatever reason who asked me the same question. I explained again I wanted the whole package like we had discussed a couple of days ago. She told me that she was the groomer and she couldnt help me if I didnt tell her exactly what I wanted done. I apologized and said I wasnt trying to be difficult. I just hadnt expected to give specifics on what was to be done since I had never been to a dog groomer before. She got upset and aggressive and told me she couldnt help me then. I told her that was fine I would just go somewhere else. At this point she forgot to hang up the phone and started taking to the other girl there about what an idiot I was and how they didnt want my stupid business anyways. I walked in to let her k ow she forgot to hang up the phone and I could hear everything they were saying. At which point the young girl literally chased me out of the building screaming at me. Needless to say, it was a terrible experience.

I thought my dog had ringworm so they had him enter through a different door to go in quarantine. I found out later he didn't have that at all and he wasn't contagious. He was kept most of the day. The concern: the front desk experience is inconsistent. When you get someone helpful, the process is smooth. When you don't, it becomes frustrating enough to reconsider coming back. Update - April 28, 2026 My puppy has been limping and holding her paw up while walking, so I called the day prior and spoke with Matthew, who was professional and helpful. He advised me to call at 7:30 a.m. to arrange a drop-off for evaluation. I followed those instructions exactly. I arrived at 7:30 a.m., called, left a message, waited for them to open, and called again. After waiting, I went inside to follow up and was told that if I came in before receiving a callback, I would be charged an additional fee and needed to go back outside and call again. I complied and called again, but after additional waiting, I called once more because I needed to leave for work. At that point, Bernice told me she had until 9:00 a.m. to call me back, in a dismissive and hostile tone. For context, I have been a long-term client with five pets currently under care, along with multiple pets prior to them. I ultimately had to leave. Shortly after getting into Albuquerque, I received a callback asking if I could return by 9:30. That was not feasible given the earlier delays and lack of accommodation. I want to acknowledge and thank Dr. Abernathy for the consistent care he has provided over the years, and Matthew for his professionalism. However, ongoing issues with front desk staff--specifically Bernice and Lexi--have made the overall experience difficult enough that I will be seeking care elsewhere. It is unfortunate to leave a provider I trust due to customer service concerns, but the inconsistency at the front desk has reached a point where it outweighs the quality of care.
