The Squirrel is under new management and I've visited numerous times since it changed hands in January 2013. There is a really nice friendly atmosphere in the pub and like the previous reviewer said its atraditional old pub. The new owners have brought in some changes the most noticeable of which is the food. I haven't been for a mid week lunch but can recommend the Fish n Chip Friday. The fish was lovely with home made batter and home made chips. This was excellent value at £5. My husband had the gammon eggs and chips, again, really nice and good value for money. We've also had the Sunday lunch , again, all home cooked and a decent sized serving. the pork crackling is great! We will be trying the Curry Night this week and I'm sure the food will be just as good as the other dishes we have tried. The pub has an excellent south facing garden, and whilst there's still snow on the ground now I'm looking forward to sitting in the summer sun (hopefully) with a glass of rose and taking advantage of the BBQs which are being planned. The Squirrel is well worth a visit, if you haven't been for a while go along and try it out again. I'm local to the area so it's great to have a pub in walking distance as there aren't many left. read more
