This is not so much a pub as a top quality fine dining restaurant. Have been many times since first…read moreopening and have happily parted with every penny, consistantly excellent food cooked to perfection by Aussie chef Jason and front of house managed with aplomb by Simon. I could wax on and on lyrical here but I wont, don't listen to me, read the proffessional reviews. So it's a bit small, I've heard people say it's a little pricey which is utter rot, find anywhere better locally and I'll eat my hat. Can't recommend the Wellington enough, a true hidden gem.

We stayed in the Hayloft which was immaculately clean and perfectly serene. The minibar was perfectly thought out, the bathroom was gorgeous, the loft was a super fun little nook to sit and peruse the countless cookbooks filling the library, the interior was simple yet warm. It really felt like staying in your super stylish friend's guest house. The pup was welcomed with all sorts of treats (bones, chew sticks and a big bowl of water). The restaurant was perfect. After 3 breakfasts, 3 dinner and 2 lunches, we pretty much tried everything on the menu and couldn't criticize a thing. We pretty much spent the weekend eating wonderful food, exploring beautiful local villages and strolling the local Hampshire countryside. Simon was very welcoming and offered lovely suggestions for walks and sight seeing. The rest of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I honestly can't think of anything that could have made our stay at The Wellington Arms any better. We will be back again very soon.

There was no festive atmosphere in the bar or the restaurant.... lunch was ok but not the best is the truth...there was plenty of it and the Turkey was beautiful to be fair. Two of us left a lot of uneaten food on our plates. ( nobody asked why?) My husband went from our table to the bar to order a coffee and a vodka and a bottle of tonic ....the guy in the shorts brought them over and just put them each in front of the wrong person and with ALL of the tonic poured into the glass with the vodka. I advised him very nicely that I didn't want all of the tonic poured into the glass ( that's not how I drink it ) ...he picked it up, walking away with it, shaking his head!! A proper Barman would never pour all the tonic into the glass .... one of the lovely young ladies brought another vodka and a bottle of unpoured tonic over to us. The worst thing is , we were charged for the vodka that he took away! So feeling very deflated after that Christmas Day Lunch. Would we go back there again? No. Would we recommend ...No.
