We happened on the square fish cafe in Lenham and it was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by the lovely and friendly staff who gave us a table reservation for that evening. They were very welcoming and unpretentious. The chef Fabian came out to greet us as well.
The menu has a nice array of fish options but land lovers won't be left out either.
The seafood salad is a wonder dish to start - bigger than we expected. Easily shareable between two people with the freshest seafood. Chef Fabian also explained where each type of fish in the salad was sourced. He knows his ingredients.
For my main the stonebass was amazing. The skin was crispy and well seasoned. It almost seems wrong to praise the fondant potatoes given how lovely everything else on the plate was but I've never had potatoes this good in my life. The best part was chef Fabian came out and told me exactly how to make them. I can't wait to try!
The lemon tarte was an amazing finish to the meal as was the wonderful conversation with the staff. So welcoming and warm and serving up amazing food. Do not miss this place! Also just across the street from two cozy pubs for a drink before or after your meal. read more
