I remember when this place used to be a traditional pub, although it was pretty rough and ready…read moreback then without any of the modern comforts we now come to expect from our public houses. It has been refurbished and is now a village pub turned into a gastro pub/posh kinda place. Now we can roll on about losing our heritage etc. but progress is progress and we need to move with the times. What you have here now is a smart, functional and well maintained restaurant where you can go for food and enjoy that nice balance of smart but not too stifling. The place was very busy, and my son waited 20 minutes in the queue at the bar, just to get drinks and order the meals. The starters arrived 30 minutes after ordering, and were OK but nothing special (your usual microwaved pub grub). We then waited another hour for the mains. (just after 3pm when we got them). One of our family was my 2yr old grand-daughter, who was by then, very hungry. Luckily she is a very well-behaved child, and played on the well-equippedand fenced-off play area, whilst waiting. Good job the weather was fine for her to be able to do so. I used to go to this pub quite often, before the so-called renovations (which weren't too apparant) but I definitely won't bother again.
