Ask the Community - The Spot for Smiles

My husband has a fear of dentist and will only go when he can take a sedative. Is that something your practice is willing to consider?

While we would LOVE to help your husband out….. we are a pediatric dental practice. Sorry.

We were recommended to Dr. Randolph by some good friends. After several bad experiences for my…read moredaughter she was terrified of the dentist. She has sensory issues, a very sensitive gag reflex and active tongue. I requested the quiet room, where with the use of the gas they were able to get full X-rays for the first time (age 9), and completed some necessary dental work, all with a smiling child afterwards. I would highly recommend this office. The office staff is wonderful, all the assistants and Dr. Randolph is amazing. If you have a child with special needs, they will do everything in their power to make it the best experience possible.

I have mixed feelings about this office. When we first moved to Folsom, the care and…read moreprofessionalism was great from the Dental Techs. Although the age appropriate communication from the physician was not great, the girls were happy. It was the last 2 visits that were horrifying from both the Dental Tech and the Doctor himself. We were the last patient of the day, they had called earlier to ask if we could change the time (no, due to work). Once we were there we were rushed, and the girls (5 yo) spoke of it after. My girls sadly required fillings - oops on mom and dad... When I took the first one, wow was I appalled, demeaned, disrespected, and overall taken back with the poor patient-focused care. The doctor was telling my daughter you're not hurt, I'm not even touching you, there is no pain, you need to breathe through your nose. This is not exaggeration; this is word for word call out. The doctor turned to me after failing the procedure to attempt a disrespectful education. The physician needs education on how to speak with children who are experiencing a traumatic event (there is age-appropriate communication techniques for age groups). Do not take your children to this doctor. There are much better options. The only good comment I can give is the RDA that was there to assist with the filling that day was compassionate, kind, and very age-appropriate with my daughter. I have an acute-care nursing background of 15 years and understand patient-focused care, now in leadership. Do not recommend at all.

The assistant who did the cleanings was the best. I sadly didn't catch her name but she talked to my girls the whole time to keep them comfortable. They all loved her. Dr. Tiffany Kwan was also so nice and very informative. She actually explained everything to them and made them want to brush more often which I'm so thankful for bc getting them to listen is usually a struggle lol Plus they got a goodie bag at the end with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and a little sticky hand toy. Definitely recommend!

I am writing to formally express my frustration and disappointment with the scheduling and overall…read morecustomer service experience at Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics. It has become extremely difficult to get appointments that reasonably accommodate our children's schedules. There appears to be a significant imbalance between the number of patients being accepted and the availability of dentists and orthodontists to properly serve them. As a parent, I have repeatedly had to rearrange my own work and personal schedule around the limited appointment times available, only to then wait an unreasonable amount of time when we need to reschedule. We were even willing to travel to another Kids Care location where an orthodontist was available, yet we were told that was not an option. If your practice is specifically focused on children, I believe there should be greater consideration for the fact that these are students who have school, classes, exams, and other important academic commitments. Expecting children to repeatedly miss school because the office cannot provide reasonable scheduling options is simply not acceptable. What is especially frustrating is that this does not feel like a patient-centered practice. It gives the impression that the priority is accommodating more patients rather than adequately supporting the families who are already receiving care. The call center has also been a major source of frustration. On multiple occasions, the representatives have been unable to provide clear answers, resolve scheduling issues, or offer meaningful assistance. This results in parents spending significant amounts of time trying to get simple issues resolved, often with no satisfactory outcome. I am asking management to seriously evaluate your scheduling practices, staffing levels, communication between locations, and the effectiveness of your call center. Families should not have to continually rearrange their lives, pull children out of school, or wait excessively for appointments simply because there are not enough providers or reasonable scheduling options.
