I'm a slight step above the novice broader but regardless if your a noob or an expert, this little gem (I punned!) of a place is perfect. Lots of findings, chain, and good-god-almighty the beads!!!! Glass, ceramic, semiprecious, bone, poly clay... anything you want they'll have it. It also doesn't help the decor is adorable and Klews stores her beads in old printing press drawers. To top it off, the service is excellent and everything in the store is nickel and lead free. The prices are a teensy bit on the high side but I don't mind that - it's a specialty bead shop owned and operated by a local businesswoman - that's something I can afford to support! read more

Being a visitor to the area, I was Yelping places to visit and The Spirited Bead shop appeared. I was instantly drawn to the store. Upon arriving we were greeted and offered help. We looked around quite a bit then ended up speaking with Klew in great detail about her beads as well as her doTerra business. Klew was extremely helpful and sweet. She makes amazing quality beads! This is a darling little shop for jewelers, art&crafts-ers, and those just wanting to find something to do in Tehachapi. Located near the home depot, this store has a modest exterior, but a truly charming interior- full of display cases and cabinets of bead after bead after bead. Beads of all shapes, sizes, and materials can be found here- as well as finished jewelry and other fun things (zipper pulls, ornaments, etc.) The staff is super helpful in assisting the most novice of jewelers (me!) in putting something together. Ask for Ali, she's great! Anyways, this is a lovely place to come kill and hour or two. The spirited bead is a lot of fun- I also love it for gits. I love this place. There are so many bead making supplies added with a personal touch. Karen Lewis took her time to explain the different store areas, took note of my interests and guided me on finding what I was looking for. What a fantastic find! Heard about Spirited Bead by the billboard on the freeway, and thought I would check it out while passing through town. Tucked away in an industrial area, Spirited Bead has an excellent selection of beads and findings. Great selection of gemstone beads, and an amazing collection of hand crafted work by proprietor Klew. Klew and her husband run the shop, and do a great job in showing you around and introducing you to a variety of different potential projects. My normal haunt for beads is down town L.A. Tehachapi is a small town so I was surprised to find a bead store here. I didn't expect to find much but I was surprised. It's small but packed with a tremendous selection. The prices are a bit higher then L.A. but I expect that up here as I have found it to be so with all food and staples I buy here. But it's not in the 'gouge you' range which is a nice surprise. I noticed most of the reviews are over a year old so I thought I would give an updated one. It's deserved. read more

This is the best place on earth for beads & findings. My parents live in Tehachapi, & they know when I come to visit (used to be from Alaska, now from Colorado) that they'll have to drop me off at The Spirited Bead store for a few hours! They have the best selection, wonderful quality, including specialty items (like lamp-work from locals) & the classes they offer sound incredible, (haven't had the chance to take any yet, but will some day!) Klew is a local artist there, she's AMAZING! Its worth going there just to see her latest work! All the staff are super friendly & helpful, & don't mind you camping out in their store for hours drooling over everything. I don't know how they keep it all organized & clean, but they do! Where do I begin. Klews greeted me at the door, found my husband a chair and asked my name. I was in Bead Heaven. We began with a tour of her amazing art beads and beads and then moved to this amazing chest of findings. See the picture in a review below. Had such a wonderful experience at this amazing bead shop. I was looking to make soccer bracelets for my girls soccer team, they had it all!! The most charming soccer ball beads in various sizes and of excellent quality. Such a beautiful and endless selection of gorgeous beads throughout the store! the spirited bead is probably one of the most complete and well stocked beading, jewelry crafting stores i have ever been too. the staff is well trained, patient and know their stuff. the owner karen lewis is world famous at making polymer clay klew beads. this is a must see. it was like moscow on the hudson the first time i was in there. i can still spend hours going thru the items. there is always new things. i am often greated at the door by the tiny gray bundle of wiggles buddy. you could spend hours...klew does classes as well. read more
