ideally situated right next door to the guest house we stay in, we thought we'd give it a go this visit. Trev had the fishcakes to start, lovely but a bit bland for my tastes. I tried chef's special chines belly pork on noodles, which we could also have had as a main. I WISH I HAD. it was delicious! Made my mouth water, all gooey and sweet and meaty and, well, just delicious.
Duck main course was a poor choice, a couple we got chatting to, also not too impressed with the lamb, which had been my back-up choice. Trev's sea bass however was sublime. So all in all, a bit hitty-missy. Service was provided by more mature waitresses than usual, but all the better for it. The only let down was that we felt very rushed at the end of our evening. ie the 2 owners ( we guess) sent all the staff home, turned out the lights and stood with the door open, waiting for us to finish our wine. It was only 10.30, on a Saturday night, for goodness sake! Would try it again tho. read more
