An OK meal, but the service was slow and indifferent and plates were all plastic. Food was fine though

Origin Foods has a range of healthy, vegetarian based salads on offer and the selection differs on…read morea day-to-day basis so you don't get the excuse of getting bored with salads. They currently only operate in the Albany area and I happen to be lucky enough to work withing their delivery zone! The ladies usually have your lunch delivery to your office by 12pm (I usually get mine between 11-11.30am) The salads are all very fresh, tasty and packed at a very satisfying serving size (~480ml) to keep you going for the rest of the day. This week I have tried the Parsnip Cauli which has paprika roasted parsnips, kale and cauliflower cous cous, flavored with a lemon thyme dressing and The Caeser which has kale, roasted chickpeas and eggs in a cashew caesar dressing. Both I will definitely order again in the coming weeks. My favorite though has to be the Quinoa Cranberry Squash which has quinoa, salad greens, butternut pumpkin and cranberries -very tasty! I've also ordered a couple desserts with my salads and they have all ended up as a nice afternoon treat since I'm pretty full after the salad. I particularly recommend the Raw Lemon Mojo Tarts which has a fresh avocado-lemon filling with a delicious nutty tart base. They offer prices breaks/discounts, so the more you order, the cheaper it is per salad. If you are very organised and can figure out what you want, you can plan out your lunches for the next 5 weeks in advance!

Maybe the delay in us finding out about this place was due to word of mouth not getting around…read more.......this has nothing to do with the quality more that its hard to put into words how good this place is...... It also could be due to the fact you need a couple of beers to cool your tongue after you order extra spicy Really recommend this place, it's lump rice and spicy coconut are to die for. Have a few dishes to get a real flavour and don't forget the kingfisher beers if you get too hot. The decor adds to the charm but could do with repainting and cleaning the front door and maybe air con however that might have been the spice again.

I discovered Sri Lankan food a few years back via a randomly-placed takeaway on Balmoral Road. The…read morefamiliarity of curry and spices combined with fresh, light and sometimes coconutty flavours was a revelation and the start of a love affair. I was so happy to discover this little cafe in the Sandringham shopping centre and our recent visit was a beautiful thing. The couple that run this place are lovely and will answer any questions about the menu happily and seem genuinely pleased to aid in their customers' discovery of this cuisine. I could rave on and on about how great this place is and it absolutely deserves its rapidly ascending reputation as the next big thing in unpretentious flavoursome local eats. While the menu is a bit overly complex (each dish comes with several other sides and usually more than one curry), they are more than happy to accommodate all manner of dietary requirements, be it gluten-free, vegan, no eggs please or just plain old vegetarian. I can't recommend 7 Siri - Taste of Sri Lanka enough (gotta love that name!), and one of my pet peeves about ethnic eateries is bad lighting - this place is adorned in fairy lights and is a very pleasant place for a simple but sensational dinner.

Wheels crunching up the gravel, the Tasting Shed looked sophisticated in black. Dining tables that…read morespilled out into the outdoor area are wrapped by the wind + rain proof outdoor gazebo. Everything about it oozed warm comfort and rustic charm. You wouldn't hear the quiet clinking of cutlery on plates and humble conversation here. It was a strict "no-tablecloths" restaurant. And these beautiful wooden tables probably take 5 times more work to maintain. My after-work brain probably took more time than necessary to figure out what the bobbles meant on the Savory to Sweet scale on the menu. With 25 items on the menu (including dessert), it was difficult to nail down what to order. We were advised to order 4 to 5 dishes because they were all entree sizes. Watermelon - smoked olive, goats cheese, baby ganoush This was one surprising combination. I've always been one to systematically eat my way through my plate because I didn't like mixing things together. Give me a fruit and cheese platter, I'd eat each individually. But this is something you'd want to pile a bit of each onto your fork. The watermelon and goats cheese blend beautifully into a creamy smoothie in your mouth. Rich and cooling at the same time - it's a weird sensation. Venison - carpaccio, mushrooms, beets, juniper, walnuts This is a great well-thought out dish with plenty to leave you taste testing, tilting your head and thinking. It was called the Venison dish, and with so much going on, the venison was the solid foundation to bring out the flavours of each ingredient. The sweet tang and slick texture of the mushrooms was paired with the crunch of the walnut and hokey-pokey chunks. We had fun melting the walnut powder on our tongues and poking at the different elements on the dish. The hokey pokey was not your average golden syrup variety but was made with beetroot juice - so even with this explosion of textures, everything blends together. After a mini degustation, one shared sweet dessert was enough! The rosewater was not an understatement - the scent was clear, and sweet, followed by an even sweeter strawberry parfait. It had a subtle summer breeze to this dish and the strawberry parfait an excellent substitute for your average ice cream. The saffron leaves a distinct after taste and cures the dish from being too sweet. With the popularity of restaurants that let you put elbows on tables, tablecloths are stripped away to make way for our laid-back Kiwi culture. If you're looking for a sweet candle-lit dinner, there's other fine-dining restaurants in Auckland CBD. But I'm loving this fusion of casual and fine at The Tasting Shed. The service doesn't make you feel like you're a VIP but more like your host that invited you to their house for dinner. So if you're looking for an excuse out of the city, make this your first stop!

Kitchen closed at 1500 to 1700 for dinner prep although small plates are served during that time. European cuisine with heavy Asian influence, think daikon, kimchi, even asam laksa (the Asian snob in me couldn't bring myself to order this). We had the market ceviche (good but we prefer this with a bit more punch), kimchi Mac & cheese (odd pairing which I enjoyed) and the Lamb Shoulder (fantastic!)
