I have also found other neat things, including a quirky, handmade ceramic turkey, so.e really nice skirts, and my favorite an antique that my dad dated to about 1840. It cost only 60$ and just needs reupholstering. There is a lot of junky stuff, too, but that's in the eye of the beholder, so I can't take away any stars for that. I buy a lot of frames and sometimes, if the frames have pictures in them, the price is too much. I liked the frame, but 15$ for not old and kind of cheesy painting off raggedy anne and andy? Nope. When you donate, the guys out back are efficient, and reasonably friendly when you speak to them. I am quite sad to be moving to Floida as I will miss the Broad Street Thrift Mart as bad as I have been missing The Shrimper!

We weren't aware but an appointment is desired by phone or email. Luckily the owner was there and let us take a peak. It really is cool! WW II, Vietnam, OIF/OEF items. The boys were very respectful of the items and enjoyed snooping around. What made my heart melt is that the owner gave my son a WW II book and even my youngest a book on D Day. This sweet gesture made their day! They both snuggled up with Grandpa to read their books this evening. I highly recommend popping in.

However, I was very disappointed this past Saturday when I pulled up into the parking lot at 4:36 PM pulled on the door handle and it was locked .Peered through the tinted glass door , and a male individual signaled to me that they were closed. I immediately thought I must've read their hours wrong for a Saturday. As it turned out, I hadn't read them wrong. Their hours said they would be open until 5 PM. Boy I felt like I had been punched in the gut. It wouldn't have been so bad, but I made a special trip from out of town. I really felt unappreciated as a customer. Maybe the owner needs to realize that customer service is more than just assisting people inside the store, but also entails giving reliable information to their customers. Still uncertain if I'll ever go back.!

They will be happy to NOT give you any assistance, and they hire plenty of people who have no earthly idea how to do anything other than play on their phones. E&T Hardware is a gem! Elgin is lucky to have a great place where we can go get what we need quickly and have people there who know what they are talking about. And so, some of the prices, not all, but some are a little more than the big box stores. The way I look at it is, my time is worth more than saving a few bucks here or there. I value my time and will continue to give E&T first shot at just about everything I need and only go to Lowes or HD when either E&T does not have what I need or the price is such that I have no other choice.
