Then I realized they were my friends. It was dark and we're musicians. Sue me. The Rehearsal Factory is one of the few places I've found in Toronto that has a fair balance between price, availability and quality facilities. They are not the cleanest, but they do their best. They are not the cheapest, but they come close. They do have good sized rooms though and the sound proofing is better than other places I've been too. Their bathrooms are a decent size and have a shower but I'm not sure you would want to use it. If you've ever been on a tour bus you'll know why. It might be worth it to mention that the room is entirely covered in tile with stainless steel sink and toilet so everything can be steam blasted clean with ease. The odd thing about this place is that it's partially condo space so you have to clear out at 11pm. That's more than an inconvenience when you've been slaving away for hours trying to figure out a song and you're kicked out just as it finally comes to you. It's not always possible to put yourself back in that creative space and pick up where you left off even if you've been recording everything up till that point. Everyone I've dealt with here, staff and musicians alike, have been great. They all seem to respect each others space and I've had some great conversations about who's making what type of music and why. If you happen to be looking for studio space I would suggest you drop by and take a look.

We had Room 5, the drums were well maintained and well tuned which saved me the 15 minutes doing it. Long time listener, first time visitor!…read more I've heard the Long & McQuade musical instrument ads on radio for years. And Lo and behold I finally visited with the family to pickup a larger-sized violin from this location. The store has a huge assortment of different instruments including new and used in its various sections ranging from guitars to flutes to saxophones. Some instruments can be tried and we noticed a few young musicians playing the piano while waiting for their music class. Indeed this store also features a set of teaching classrooms in a back corner and many families appeared to come into the store to attend their session. Our sales rep was quite patient letting us test several different violins and answer our questions regarding the brand quality and the differences size. We were able to get a good deal during the Black Friday sale with help from the manager. Our case and bow were also checked to be of good quality. The family left impressed with the service. Skip it or hit it? Come for the reputation, stay for the service.

I have shopped at Kaos twice even though I live in East Toronto. The first time I went in it was…read morebecause they were carrying a Yamaha product that wasn't available anywhere else and I could "get it today" if I drove over there. So I did, and I got to chatting with the guys working there and they were really awesome. You know when you go into some music stores and everyone has that attitude like they're better than you or they don't want to waste their time serving customers - that doesn't exist here. The selection of in-stock guitars is not huge but they have some good products that aren't stocked in other stores, like the higher end Pacificas and some cool Godin stuff. I haven't gone in their acoustic room but it is properly closed off and humidified. There are two reasons I went here when I had to special order a guitar that isn't stocked anywhere, even though there are stores closer to me that are also licensed dealers. First, I liked them last time I shopped there, and second, the guitar I was buying had not-super-awesome online reviews about the factory setup and Kaos sells new guitars with a free setup per year. I mean, I can do my own setup but... I don't want to on something new. Most places will do a free setup when you buy it, but not once a year. They also double manufacturer's warranties for new items. If anything is lacking here it's because of the floor space - the shop is pretty small. They don't have very many pedals and I've never gone looking for drums but I haven't seen them in-my-face in the main showroom. I will shop here again if I need to special order something, because their customer service is great.

Instead of investing $800+ on a saxophone, we are renting one for $35 a month to see if my husband is actually seriously about learning to play! We can also apply the monthly rental fee and buy out the sax if he chooses to or apply the money to a different instrument! Good selection of popular sheet music too. I haven't touched the piano for 15+ years but walked out with some sheet music to play for fun. Friendly staff. Saw some cute ukuleles that we could buy our nephew/niece for xmas. Price ranges from $40 and up. Lots of colors and designs to choose from.
