This was our scond visit to this Indian eatery…read more Positives: Attentive staff. Clean presentation. Acceptable price. Wine was nice. The Kashmir nan was spot on. So often these are soggy sugar-stuffed or honey-drizzled coconut-smothered and sickening. The rice was perfect. I mean can rice not be? Well this rice was fab. I opted for the lamb vindaloo as I like a good punch to my spice. It kicked like a mule. In fact I asked for a little yogurt just to occasionally cool my palate. Perfect. Just what I like. Not like other pathetic offerings I have elsewhere. My partner opted for the chicken korma. She loved it. There was plenty of chicken in there too. Negatives: The setting is a little compact. Not sure why we were seated immediately next to others when there was plenty of room. Mixed pakora included one prawn and too many onion fragments. The accompanying small salad was tired. The menu is somewhat limited but what is there is fair enough. We haven't tried the takeaway offerings yet so I can't comment. Definitely worth a try and better than other Indian restaurants in this area. We will call again.

I have been to the Chefs of Tandoori more times than I can count on two hands…read more The thing that stands out most about Chefs of Tandoori is the freshness and lightness of the curries. I would consider them the healthiest Indian restaurant in the area. The usual curries like Rogan Josh are not as oily. My favourite curries are the goat curry and the Fish Kerala. Whilst the fish has been fried lightly in batter, you don't get a heavy oily feeling after eating it. The fish is served in a mild curry that is lightly creamy. I also love the Okra Dopiaza here. The Kashmiri Pulao is one of the lightest and isn't overly oily as well. I also recommend the prawn curry though there could be more prawns in each serve. Whilst the prices are just marginally a little more, you pay for the quality. This joint is my go-to takeaway when it's been a busy week and I'm still trying to eat 'right'. I love the service and ambience here as well. They remember you! If you order takeaway via their app you get a discount. Also you can get a cheap glass of wine whilst you wait for your takeaway.

When Tandoori Oven on Unley Road closed, I was a little lost. I tried a few other indian places…read morenearby, but none had the same depth of flavour at my old favourite. While lamenting my dilemmas at a dinner one night, the group almost in chorus said, "Raj on Taj!!!" Hyde Park is the bigger and more popular venue, but I love the second store at Parkside. The restaurant has a lovely fit out, with those warm heaters outside, but I get my food to go. The kitchen is open and pumping. I love seeing the chefs at work. They do a special 'Just for me' for $16 which is a really good deal. You get 1 main, 1 veg, 1 plain naan, pappadams and rice. I choose the rogan josh, deal or swag paneer and upgrade my naan to cheese. This meal usually does me for dinner and lunch the next day. I think there's a 'Just for two' deal as well, but Indian to me, is a solo affair and I'm not sharing my cheese naan with anyone!

I have only had take out from Raj on Taj and we had the facilities to order online and pick it up…read more However, we seemed to have paid $3 more paying online then on the menu we took away with us. When I calmed from that bombshell and realised I didn't have enough for my coffee tomorrow - I tucked into the 'You'n'me' meal - 2 Mains, 1 Vegetable dish, 1 Large rice, 2 Plain Naan and 1 papadam (actually heaps of papadams) for $30 (or $33 for ol' gullible me). When I say, 'I' tucked into it, I mean me and someone else. We got the Rogan Josh, Korma and the Mattar Paneer (Cottage cheese & peas simmered in a creamy cashew and almond sauce). I never expected it but the vegetarian option was my favourite. It has had heaps of flavour and the texture of the cottage cheese was perfect. Well, i'm just gushing now, but I really enjoyed my meal, even if it did make me feel sleepy from overeating. And now I can't even afford a coffee.

I love Raj! My…read morebrother lives right across the street from this restaurant so we order in whenever I get down there to visit. I'm a big fan of Indian food and Raj ticks all the right boxes, the dishes are cooked to perfection, the service is fast and the servings are generous. A meal deal for 2 will easily feed three, so its pretty fairly priced and you get to choose which dishes u have in that package too which makes me so happy! The Mango Lassi is simply divine and The Rogan Josh is also commendable oh and the Garlic Naan...just do it. I will say, although I don't eat in at Raj, it's always plenty packed, so book ahead and come early because depending on the night, you may have problems getting a park.

She almost always gets the Chana Masala wherever we go so that's what she did this time and was pleased with what they managed. I picked the Alu Mattar, which I've eaten at multiple Indian restaurants and even had a poor attempt at making myself. I've gotta say that after reading many positive reviews I wasn't let down. It's possibly one of the best Indian restaurants that I've been to around Adelaide. I can only base this off my one experience and my vegetarian meals, but when Indian restaurants get one meal right they generally get them all right from my observations. So I gave them a 5/5 but I want to give some very small nit-picking critiques. The steamed rice was a bit dry. The garlic naan I ordered was maybe a little undercooked and doughy, the papadums a little brittle. I might just be used to greasy and fried naan, different thicker papadums and they were actually how they were meant to be. I don't pretend to know what is authentic, I just like what I like. I smashed every last bit of my meal regardless. Good stuff!!! Very affordable, decent portions, nice sauce and spice. I had takeaway but the venue looks cozy and I may have to dine-in next time..
