Indian food is one of my favourite take away foods to smuggle home so I was excited when I was OBLIGED (wink, wink) by the people I was with to order from Delhi Spice. We ordered what would probably be the most standard dishes (none of us were into hot spice). It was cooked on time and still piping hot when we got it home. The food in general was great and I would have rated this 4 stars, but it was the little things that deflated my excitement. The papadams were a little over cooked, as were the samosas. Even though we had ordered two serves of the samosas, we only received one mint sauce and we all know that the mint sauce isn't big enough (no matter where you go) to split between four people. All that being said, I would definitely order from there again and slink back to my home to eat it. They did have a nice 'dine in' area so maybe next time I will try that....maybe then I can have all the mint sauce I want! read more

Google what else is in the area? If you answered #4 you are right and win the prize. Our Google session turned up a trove of potential dinner spots. We settled on Delhi Spice because we felt like Indian and it had overwhelming positive reviews elsewhere on the net--but not on Yelp due to a few people's average experiences. What was our experience? Good. Really good. - The restaurant is a bit "rough around the edges" but has charm nonetheless. We didn't dine in, though it may have been nice. Instead we opted for takeaway with the view of eating it at Brighton. Until we got to the car and realised we didn't ask for any cutlery. Home it was... - The staff were super dooper friendly. - The food: Y.U.M. I opted for the Aloo Matar. I have never tasted a more complex and well-balanced Indian sauce. It was alive in my mouth, ticking boxes like a curry possessed. There was fennel, acid--as though they read my mind and gave it a clever squeeze of lemon juice right at the end--and just the right amount of heat--which, for a vegan curry in Australia means *some* heat; why are we so afraid? - Prices: so so cheap. This place is easy to miss and seriously underrated. It's definitely one of the best Indian restaurants around with a very reasonable price. It's my favourite takeaway even though I don't live that near to it. You can dine in too and it is licensed however their dine in area isn't very large and it tends to get very warm in summer heat waves. The staff are friendly and I've never had problems with service but it does get very busy (especially with takeaways) so on occasions meals have taken longer. I do love their Chicken Biryani and Vindaloo. We often order beef madras too. The food is definitely very good and serving sizes are quite generous, especially when you order Chicken or Lamb Biryani. Their chilli cheese naan is also packed with generous fillings. As it is situated right on Oaklands Road, parking is an issue, there aren't many spaces there and I usually park on the side streets after the traffic lights. This place is definitely worth a visit and it certainly won't break the bank! read more

Best Indian I've had since visiting... Still haven't come across anywhere that delivers the same nan bread but everything else is very authentic. You can BYO, sit in the restaurant and imagine you are in the middle of a busy Indian street enjoying traditional kofta and tikka masala. Take away is alway busy so order ahead If your a lover of Indian you have to give deli spice a go! The price is exceptional and servings are generous. read more

I LOVE this place. Not only is it really convenient as it's my local indian place BUT, it's also some of the most delicious indian I've had AND it's super good value. Blink and you'll miss it - the decor doesn't do the food justice. Modest looking from the outside but honestly, so delicious! It's always quite busy there but the staff are very friendly, quick and professional. Probably more people getting takeaway than dining in but it's a very bustling place. I've been to more expensive places and been disappointed - I always come back here because it's tasty and the cheap price is the best bonus! read more

This is a good little place. Like Michelle, my opinion of the butter chicken is that it was really very good. Nice and tender, good flavours. The naan is also pretty fair. The staff seem pretty good, too. The food is prepared fairly quicly, so you won't be waiting hours for your meal. I don't know that I'm ready to give this place four stars just yet though, because like Amanda, I thought that there were little things that could be done better, like more mint sauce and that sort of thing. read more

I love Indian food, and I tend to eat it every chance I get. I've been to Delhi Spice a few times now, and I will keep on going back for the yummy food, and great service. I always order a butter chicken from here, steamed rice, and a naan. And it's really really good. The chicken is juicy and really takes on the spices of the curry. The sauce is rich and creamy. Service has always been spot on, and they always get my order right. read more

Today 4 of us had lunch at this fab little treasure of a Restaurant, on Oaklands Rd. next door to "Be Hair" (also an excellent Hairdresser). The curries and extras were well priced and the food was absolutely delicious. The serve size was just right and the atmosphere was friendly and nice. The seats at the table were comfortable. All in all, it was a good, out of the city spot to have a lovely curry. I am looking forward to our next visit, following our haircut! read more

I have come here for years now. I love their range of vegetarian curries. Despite being often very busy the staff are very friendly. The menu is very reasonably priced as well. The only downside for me would be the waiting times but they seem to be doing the most they can with the space they have. read more

Good restaurant-quality indian food at food court prices. Even though it appears to run on a shoestring budget the staff do a great job with their food. It is insanely popular with the locals such that whenever I go to pick up takeaway order the queue for food is almost extending outside. Even when I phone my order almost 30 minutes in advance I usually have to wait for them to complete my order (which takes 1 star off for me). Also, due to its popularity, parking around the place is always difficult, which also detracts from its convenience. If you are prepared to put up with the queues then you'll be very happy with the meal. read more

The only reason I won't give 5 stars is the amount of times they have forgotten part of our order or given the wrong item instead. Aside from that it is the best value Indian I have ever had. Always good quality nice tasty food for $9.90 a main! I always get the vindaloo and ask for it extra hot and they do it as you ask.
