I'm a novice and…read morewent in looking for one small part...but figured I'd get some additional supplies while there because this is my closest home brewing supply shop and it's an hour and a half away from my home. I received excellent customer service and a lot of advice and guidance. I got the part I needed (better than the one I was planning to get) plus additional supplies. Some new, some used, all of which I was steered toward and were less expensive and better than what I'd initially asked for. Definitely recommend for the home brewer. I have a gruit going at home and am about to start a mead and today got the supplies for a pacific IPA. This place has everything you need with the advice and assistance you want. Home brewers: Go check it out!

Other than a Barnes and Nobel homebrew in a box, or muscadine wine, I was new to the hobby. By the time I left, I felt like Sam Calagione. Anyone can read step-by-step instructions, and/or understand the science, but there is always something missing in the finished product. With the guidance of Mark, there is no missing element. If you're not looking to dive in all at once, there is an array of affordable beginner equipment to get your feet wet without breaking the bank. At Trost Und Prost, you will receive honest, professional advice that can be applied to your own experiments. Mark takes the mundane formulas, and by an almost alchemical process, guides people to make art. Affordable prices, exceptional inventory, and excellent customer service. 10/10 recommend.

We came here after graduation with our extended family for a late lunch, early dinner since Taste…read moreis one of my daughter's favorite places in Starkville. A couple of other large parties had the same idea and I was glad we made advance reservations. Staff was attentive throughout. The bread service was a very good Italian type bread loaf slices with olive oil. I would have liked some Italian seasoning to add to it to make it even better. For appetizers my daughter insisted on the Fried Mozzarella Ravioli and I wanted to try the Arancini. Both were excellent! My wife and I decided to split the Seafood Linguini and each got a salad. I chose the Caesar side salad and she wanted the Italian side salad. I was wanting to try their gnocchi but that was the 1 item on the menu the server said that they did not have. (Unfortunately I didn't't find out until after I tried to order and had my mind set on it) There was a good amount of seafood but 1 more shrimp would have made it much easier to split evenly. Even sharing we were full especially knowing we had cake waiting for us back at the condo. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their choices as well. I can see why Taste is the go to choice for my daughter and her husband when they want to celebrate.

She really elevated our experience with her next level service and amazing recommendations. We got the truffle cream ravioli, and the shrimp scampi. SO GOOD! I dream about those mushroom ravioli. I also loved the stuffed mushroom appetizer (they even reheated well the next day.) She also recommended the cheesecake for dessert and that did NOT disappoint!! I also saw they make their own pizza in house and I'm gonna try that next time I go. Seems like a good place for a celebratory meal as well (birthday, anniversary, etc.)

So glad I gave it a shot! I've had steak all over... and this won top spot! I got the Cajun baked potato and my wife got the Italian. Either choice is a win for sure! It's not cheap... but well worth it!

THE FOOD The Highlight: The Tiramisu was the star of the evening--moist, semi-sweet, and rich. A tasty end to the meal. Starters: The freshly fired Cheese Bread was another win, topped with fluffy, warm cheese. A comforting start. The Entrees: The portion sizes for the Gnocchi, Lasagna, and Fettuccine Alfredo were enormous. You get a massive amount of food for the price. * Note: The execution didn't match the size. There were issues with texture and flavor depth across the main dishes. For example, the Fettuccine Alfredo sauce was watery and bland rather than creamy and rich. SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE The dining area has a homey, casual feel. The hostess and server were patient, and the waitress immediately swapped out a glass of red wine that had oxidized, which was appreciated. PARKING Plenty of streetside parking is available. OVERALL The Nautical Whimsey provides a large amount of food for the cost. It is a solid choice if you need to feed hungry teenagers who value quantity over culinary precision, but foodies looking for high-quality Italian might want to look elsewhere.
