My family and I visited this office four weeks ago and were very pleased with our initial…read moreexperience. Dr. Golestani was extremely informative and kind, and Dr. Natalie was wonderful with my children. During that visit, it was recommended that my 7-year-old son have a baby tooth extracted because his adult tooth had already begun to grow behind it, and the baby tooth was not loose. Fast forward to today, and we had an appointment scheduled for Friday, 12/13/2024, for the extraction. On Tuesday, my husband called the office with questions about the procedure, specifically regarding the use of laughing gas and the numbing process. He first spoke with Chelsea at the front desk, who was very polite and provided some answers. She also emailed us instructions to review before the visit. After reading the instructions and discussing the call, we had additional questions, so my husband called back. The second time, he spoke with a male staff member whose name we didn't catch. Unfortunately, the information he provided was unclear, and there seemed to be a misunderstanding about what we were asking. We wanted to know if laughing gas was a mandatory part of the procedure, as I recalled having a similar extraction as a child with just numbing, no gas. Additionally, we were curious about why we were instructed to give our son 1 tsp of Benadryl an hour before the procedure and wanted to understand the rationale behind that step. We also noticed that the instructions stated parents would need to wait in the waiting room during the procedure, which concerned us. After several calls, my husband mentioned that the last two people he spoke with--the male staff member and Edy, the office manager--were rude. He understood they might have been frustrated with the repeated calls, but their tone was unprofessional and unacceptable. Hearing this, I decided to step away from work to call the office myself. When I called, Chelsea answered and, as before, was kind and tried to help. She explained that Edy, the office manager, would be better able to address my questions but was on lunch at the time. Edy later returned my call, but we missed it, so I called her back. While Edy answered my questions, she did not apologize for the way she spoke to my husband. On Wednesday, I called again to speak with Chelsea because I appreciated her politeness and wanted to see if we could request an exception to allow one of us to stay in the room with our son during the procedure. Chelsea informed me that their director did not permit parents in the procedure room. While she wasn't rude, this policy left us feeling uncomfortable. To gain more perspective, we contacted three other pediatric dental offices to ask about their procedures for baby tooth extractions. Each of them said parents were welcome in the room, as if it were standard practice. After this, my husband and I decided to postpone our son's procedure and cancel the appointment at this office. At 4:15 PM, I called the office to cancel the appointment. My call went to voicemail, and I received a text message stating that the office was closed. However, their website clearly showed they were open until 6:00 PM. Out of curiosity, I called again using a different number, and the male staff member answered the phone. I told him who I was and mentioned that I had been sent to voicemail earlier and received a text stating the office was closed, which was untrue. I also brought up my husband's earlier experience with him and Hedy, expressing our disappointment. It's unfortunate because I really liked Dr. Golestani. However, due to the way the front desk staff--specifically the male employee and Edy--handled this situation, we will not be returning to this office. As a family visiting for the first time, we had valid concerns and questions about a procedure for our young child. We did not appreciate the dismissive attitude, the rude tone, or the misleading voicemail and text. As the first point of contact for patients, the front desk staff should be kind, patient, and professional. I wish I could let Dr. Golestani know directly about how we were treated because this experience does not reflect well on the office overall.

Avoid this dental practice!…read more This place is a money pit and they routinely up charge their services without permission from the parents. My 7 yr old daughter required services from this practice and while the dentist was good we would get unusually high bills for additional services that weren't explained prior to the appointment. What put the icing on the cake for me, after dealing with many of these up charges, was one of the receptions indicating that they needed to give my daughter nitrous oxide as anesthesia so that the dentist could on a spacer. I told the receptionist that we are declining that service and they did it anyway, without my consent. And to add insult to injury, they insisted that I pay for it!!! This place prioritizes profit over patient relationships and their nickel and diming coupled with the rudeness of the office manager made me change dentists. They will offer you unnecessary procedures/services and be rude to you if you do not consent. Steer clear of this place.

The office is divided in two spaces; area for adults and another area for children. When you walk in the waiting area it is bright and spacious, which included an easel, small table for writing, tv, and stuffed animals. After filling out the paper, Dr. Lam made his presence known as he formally introduced himself to us and our toddler. He sat down and spoke with us about his special technique with young children . At least 15-20 minutes later, my toddler had warmed up to him. We then walked to exam room and of course she was hesitant, however, she cooperated with them. They were able to get an X ray and he was able to examine her teeth with some coaching/sweet talk. Did she cry? Yes! Did she clench her mouth closed? Yes! Did they get the job done? Yes! I noticed she did less kicking, shouting, and screaming compared to last dental visit elsewhere. When finished she sat in the exam chair and played with the stuffed animals. I believe Dr. Lam is gifted and he is worth every penny that the insurance doesn't want to cover! I'm pleased with the services provided at The Gallery of Smiles and of course we will return.

However, in this case, I feel compelled to share my experience so that other parents do not go through what I did at this location. Last December, my 5‑year‑old daughter had a dental checkup here and was diagnosed with cavities. One set of fillings was completed during that visit, and we were advised to return later for the remaining work, as per the doctor's recommendation. Unfortunately, this is where the issues began. Payment and Treatment Confusion Based on the initial assessment and X‑rays, we were asked to pay the full amount upfront, which the front desk clearly stated was for the entire treatment. During the actual examination, the dentist advised that some cavities did not need immediate filling and could be monitored, considering my daughter's age. As a result, only part of the procedure was completed, 2nd part can done it after a week, and we were informed that we would receive an $89 credit from the initial assessment. Payment was made in full, and the receptionist explicitly confirmed that we had paid in full. Issues During the Follow‑Up Appointment When we returned for the next appointment, the situation became extremely confusing and frustrating: Initially, the receptionist asked me to pay over $200. I explained that we had already paid in full in December. After rechecking, he said he could see an $89 credit and then asked me to pay $111, which still did not align with what we were told earlier. I spent 45 minutes trying to explain the situation. Another receptionist then joined and stated that there was a "note mistake," claiming that the system incorrectly showed "paid in full" instead of "paid for that day's treatment only." She also mentioned that the staff member who made the note was not available. I questioned how this could be attributed to an individual when this is a practice operating under the name Pearly Whites, not a single person. There was no apology, and her attitude was dismissive. I was also told that doctors change frequently and that each doctor may have different opinions, meaning today's treatment plan could change again. By this point, I had completely lost confidence. I checked in at 2:00 PM, and by 3:15 PM, the issue was still unresolved. I ultimately had to leave without proceeding with the appointment. Overall Experience What I took away from this experience is that there appears to be no clear accountability or responsible point of contact at this location, especially within pediatric dentistry. The response was extremely lethargic, the attitude was unacceptable, and the overall customer experience was very poor. I genuinely feel sorry for the owner, as I am unsure whether these issues ever reach your attention. I could not find a way to contact anyone beyond the front desk staff. I understand that different doctors may have different approaches, and I am fine with seeing different doctors. However, what I do not understand is how treatment plans, payment expectations, and communication can vary so drastically within the same practice. For context, I am not a new patient. I have been coming to this practice for the past three years with all three of my children. My hope in writing this is that the owner becomes aware of these issues, staff attitudes are corrected, and trust can be restored so this location can continue to serve families better. There is no other intention behind this review. I regret that it had to escalate to this level, but I felt it was necessary to share my experience.
