My daughter had a blast for her 10th birthday considering all other parties had been at Chuck E Cheese which is no slight but going into her double digits we wanted something active and that kids and adults would enjoy. The music was cool and the atmosphere was chill. I didn't really have an opportunity to try the food but all the pizza was gone by the end of the party. They even give buddy passes for guests to come back another day with a friend. Overall hit with the birthday girl! Thanks JoAnn!!!

    Awesome deals.

5 stars...more like 10!!! Our son is almost 5. He was able to get in for $5 and alternate btwn skating, climbing tunnels, arcade and inflatable bounce houses. Hubs and i were free, non skaters but could go on the floor to assist. And of we wanted to skate... $5/includes skates...not bad. This was the promo. Also, they had $2 food/drink combos too. I see the place has awesome deals and promos outside the one we are using at the moment! Definitely coming again...and again...and again...

This place has rats, also they don't care about loyal customers. The food is also bad and overpriced. Lady with the headband is mean.

This place is a crap hole! Took my 7 and 11 year old and all they played was explicit rap music. Complete waste of money!

If you bring your own skates, make sure they're not road-used; they're trying to protect their nice floor. Though I really love it here, be aware that they have heat but no A/C. Plan accordingly for the weather and dress lightly on warm days. Although I still miss the convenience of having a skating rink right there in Rockville on Gude Drive from years ago... Honestly, Starland is better in so many ways. Music is varied and they mix some classics in with newer, even on kids nights. The staff are always so nice and gave us great advice and service for my husband's skates, giving them their first ever wheel change in 25 years. (And believe me, he quad skates a lot!)

What a fun throwback experience to go roller skating at Coppermine Sportsman's Hall! The parking…read morelot is huge, so it's very easy to park, and it's free parking. The place is pretty easy to find though it is unlikely you'd just happen to drive by it, as it is kind of not on the beaten path. You can purchase everything ahead of time in terms of skate rentals and entry. It's pretty reasonable for one session mid-afternoon until close in the evening, you just need one entrance ticket/fee paid. You get your money's worth for sure if you are there for hours! You can bring your own skates or rent skates here- they have regular roller skates and roller blades. Both of these are in whole sizes, no half sizes, and both of them would be best on your feet with high socks that go to your lower calves, at least. Tying them tightly gives you the best skating, but that also pinches into skin if you don't have the right socks. They have an area for parties that includes a few arcade games, but mostly, you're there to skate. There are people there who are serious skaters going wicked fast and throwing some cool tricks, but we never felt bad in any way for not being one of the super talented skaters. There's a snack bar, too, with your classic fare like burgers, hot dogs, nachos, fries and funnel cake fries. Yummy snack junk food that makes the experience all the more reminiscent of young carefree days! They have lockers for your stuff, some don't even lock, but no one seemed concerned. There are benches for sitting and changing out your shoes to skates and vice versa, and people tend to just stash their shoes under the benches rather than get a locker. A good time all around and pretty affordable if you're there for a while!

Attended a birthday party with my seven year old son at Sportsman's Hall Roller Skating…read more Upon arrival, we were greeted at the front by an employee who was solely dealing with party check in. That's a great touch, as it got us through quickly without slowing down anyone who wasn't with a party. My son was given a voucher for skates and, after greeting the party guests, we headed over to get a pair. This was easy. He was in a pair of skates that fit in like two minutes. I planned on just sort of hanging with him but was informed outside shoes could not be on the skate floor. This was his first time so I sort of let him go and...it wasn't good. Thankfully there was a referee who helped him return to me. At this point I decided to get him a skate pal and rented my own pair of skates (both of which were super reasonable prices). The skating rink seemed to be in mostly good shape. There were a couple questionable spots. The rink has a DJ, snack bar and some games that people can play when not skating. The food was fine. The games were fine as well. Neither was spectacular. The host that was connected to our party was very attentive and accommodating. She explained everything that she was doing (almost too much). The one negative is the bathrooms. They are not very conducive to beginning skaters. Trying to keep my son from falling and conking his head on the toilet was a bit of a chore. Taking skates on and off is also a hassle and there isn't really anywhere to store them in or around the bathroom. I'm not sure what the solution is but, just know, bathroom going at the rink while wearing skates can be an adventure. Overall I thought Sportsman's Hall Roller Skating was a fine place to attend a kids birthday party.

All of the 1-STAR reviewers were correct in saying that some of the ceiling tiles have water damage, tile fixtures are falling off, the facility is old, and it's dirty. Even with some of these expensive deal breakers for a place of business, the people who work here are very kind and welcoming. The man who told me to spit my gum out upon entering said it matter of factly. I didn't perceive it as yelling as other reviewers stated. After reading the board before paying to enter and meeting that man, my daughter even reminded me that I had to spit out my gum. The snack bar is busy since outside food/drink can't be brought in. Be ready to pay a lot to quench your thirst from skating. The music selections are awesome and ranges from 70s to current. All upbeat and fun! The 5 stars are well deserved for the huge smile this place gave my daughter and the confidence it gives her to roller skate. Considering many businesses that come to die here in Winchester, this roller skating rink has been able to hold its own for a long time.

I fully expect this review may be buried or deleted, but if I can save even one local family from…read moreexperiencing the embarrassment and hostility my guests and I faced today, it will be worth it. I brought a group of 14 children to celebrate a birthday on a Sunday. Because official party packages were booked out (and wildly overpriced for a mere 45-minute window), I took the initiative to call days in advance. I spoke directly with the General Manager, Casey, to give a heads-up that a large group of 25+ (including parents) would be paying general admission. I explicitly agreed to their rules: tables were first-come, first-served, and there was a strict no-outside-food policy. Unfortunately, compliance meant absolutely nothing to the staff or management. From the moment we arrived, we were treated less like paying patrons and more like inmates under surveillance. The Experience: Hostile Greeting: Before even being greeted at the counter, a staff member scolded me for holding balloons and a clear personal water cup. I was told balloons are only permitted for "official" paid parties. The "No Gift" Policy: When my guests arrived, they were stopped at the front desk and barred from bringing in birthday cards or gift bags. They were forced to walk back to their cars to leave presents for a child. When I asked GM Casey to show me where this "policy" was listed, he smirked, rolled his eyes, and dismissively said, "It's policy." Targeted & Inconsistent Enforcement: While my guests were turned away at the door with gift bags, I observed multiple other patrons walking freely around the facility with them. When pointed out, Casey condescendingly snapped, "Do you know if they are here for a party?" and continued to roll his eyes. Overbearing Surveillance: Throughout the afternoon, my guests were repeatedly scolded for simply holding water near (not on) the rink, and even reprimanded for taking quick photos of their kids near the floor. Unprofessional Behavior: To cap off the aggressive atmosphere, I witnessed GM Casey physically snatch a cupcake out of an adult patron's hand and throw it into the trash, rather than professionally asking the guest to discard or consume it outside. It was shocking and utterly uncalled for. The Bottom Line: A business reflects its leadership. Casey's arrogant, defensive, and power-tripping demeanor has clearly trickled down to his staff. When I asked for a partial refund since I never even skated myself, he tapped the counter and pointed to a "no refunds" sign. When asked for the owner's information, he aggressively rattled off a first name and a generic email address (Lynn@skatenfunzone.com). Collectively, my group spent over $400 today, only to be met with suspicion, hostility, and embarrassment. Being the only rink in the immediate area does not give management a license to treat local families like garbage. In today's economy, customer service matters. Do not spend a dime here until senior leadership undergoes serious re-training.
