If your looking for a nice clean event space in Durham downtown, check them out. I attended an event through yelp here and had a blast. It was clean, tidy and super stocked with amazing wines. The event was great. It's always a pleasure to meet up with old yelp friends and meet new yelp friends! During this event I noticed they had so many amazing drinks to pull from. The bartender and staff working were super cool. There was live music as well as vendors from around the triangle. Shout out to the guitarist who was jamming to all of the latest tunes. Parking was a struggle so we ended up at a meter which wasn't that far of a walk. There is a parking garage directly across the street so you may want to check that out if you experience parking struggles. The ambiance and decor was great for the facility. The shelves were stocked and super neat. 5stars!

From the moment we walked up we were treated by security and friendly community managers. A chalk portrait dedicated to the autumn season was being constructed and once you walked inside the venue, you were greeted by a huge selection of wine and cool ambiance. The local music was great! I loved the cool, acoustic guitar playing in the lounge space. We received tons of yelp goodies! These goodies were perfect for the upcoming storm we have. This was a great event highlighting local restaurants and catering businesses and flight breweries. I hope to see one like this in the Raleigh area.

If your type is big, strong and handsome [BUILDINGS!], Full Frame Theater's Boiler Room has YOUR name all over it (him? her?). This incredible space welcomes guests entering Full Frame Theater, as well as sometimes its neighbor, The Power Plant Gallery. It's a VERY unique event venue flanked by mammoth coal-fired boilers that were used in the original building. You can admire the elevator shaft to the right of the front door, or envision the unseen inside (but very visible outside) base of the Lucky Strike smokestack which The Boiler Room "horeshoes" around. Enormous windows, concrete floors and brick walls give this space the perfect impression for any event [can I plan my next birthday party here?!] No space has ever scream contemporary meets historic so clearly! Plus, doors are open 9am-midnight, SEVEN days a week, so there truly is no reason to miss this drool-worthy space. Secret tip: it's air-conditioned and they've got tall-topped tables and chairs inside along the massive windows. This would be the perfect get-away from the office or {indoor} picnic lunch spot.

Upon making that decision, we only considered Bay 7 and The Pavilion. Bay 7 was the perfect spot for our many out-of-town guests. They were able to stay at a hotel within walking distance and explore the American Tobacco Campus when not at a wedding event. If you have ever been to the Angus Barn, you expect exceptional service at Bay 7 and you will not be disappointed. As vegetarians, we cannot vouch for most of the meals (though all our guests raved), though the vegetarian option we chose was delicious. Wendy, our contact, said that though it is not served at Angus Barn regularly, if we reach out before we head there, they'd even whip up our wedding meal for us! Wendy had everything covered. I had zero stress about the reception thanks to this team. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you, Wendy and the entire Bay 7 team, for working with us to have our perfect wedding day.

However this last visit we chose to eat from Ex-Voto and ordered the Carnitas Crunchwrap. It was totally delicious, worth the price ( it was huge) and my husband enjoyed his Carnitas Burrito that was equally good. However, in looking at the receipt after getting home, we noticed an added 10% living wage service charge that we did not notice at the restaurant, and no signage about this that we could see. We always tip well and thus left a tip of 25%, so in all, they received an extra 35%. It would be good to be informed about this up front, or better yet, that they are paid more to not need that extra charge. If we had been told, we may have adjusted our tip accordingly. Just a heads up to others, but definitely eat there!

I ordered food from one vendor then a drink from another, then my food was ready to be picked up and my drink right after that. If I ever end up in North Carolina again, I'll likely be back--pretty much every vendor had food I wanted to try, and there's ample seating with free wifi and water. Love the zine vending machine, I didn't have time to visit a museum and this is such a cool way for tourists to learn about the area! Right around the corner there's a big hill park thing with a skate ramp, playground, and a little free library where I grabbed a book from a favorite series of mine! Only annoying thing is that you have to pay for parking, but that seems to be the situation for this whole area.

As a professional event planner and decorator who has worked with numerous venues and clients over…read morethe years, I was extremely disappointed with my experience regarding the communication and professionalism of the venue representative, Davonya. First, I want to make it clear that the venue itself is beautiful. It is a wonderful space with endless possibilities and can truly be transformed into a beautiful atmosphere for a client's special occasion. Unfortunately, the experience I had dealing with the venue representative overshadowed the beauty of the space. Throughout the planning process, there was very inconsistent communication. My client sent several text messages during the planning process and after the contract was created. On multiple occasions, the messages showed as "read," yet there was no response. This created unnecessary confusion and made it difficult for us to properly plan and execute the event. I personally contacted Davonya regarding an appointment to view the venue. That appointment was missed. When I spoke with her, she stated that she had never been contacted about viewing the venue on the Tuesday and Wednesday that had been discussed. I then continued the conversation by asking when the earliest time would be for my team and me to enter the venue and begin setting up. I was initially told 12:00 PM on Saturday. I was informed that there was already an event scheduled for Friday and that the cleaning crew would need to come in before we could begin setting up. Davonya later said the Friday event was cancelled. But she said the venue was not cleaned or event ready as she stated. We discussed and agreed that my team and I would arrive at 12:00 PM Saturday. My client also spoke with Davonya afterward and was given the same 12:00 PM setup time. The following day, we contacted her to confirm the setup time, only to be told that the time was actually 3:00 PM.This was extremely problematic. We were setting up for approximately 150 guests, which required tables, chairs, decorations, linens, table settings, centerpieces, and numerous other details. Changing the agreed-upon setup time from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM left my team with only approximately 2 1/2-3 hours to complete an entire event setup. That amount of time was simply not sufficient to properly execute everything that had been planned. As a result, the event started late. What was even more concerning was the conversation between Davonya and my client, during which it was stated that I had called her "several times" that day, giving the impression that I was repeatedly contacting her or causing an issue. That was not accurate. Throughout this entire process, I called Davonya only twice. The first call was specifically regarding the missed venue-viewing appointment. My client asked me to make that call because there had already been several unanswered text messages showing as read. The second call was made the day before the event for one reason: to confirm the 12:00 PM setup time that had previously been discussed and agreed upon. I believe that when a contract has been established between a client and a venue, communication should be clear, consistent, and organized. There should be a designated point of contact, and everyone involved should receive the same information regarding appointments, access, setup times, and expectations. This would eliminate unnecessary confusion and prevent situations like the one we experienced. There were also issues during the event. There is a closet containing brooms, mops, cleaning supplies, and other useful items. While we were setting up, someone spilled a beverage, and when my team attempted to access the closet for cleaning supplies, the door was locked. We had no one readily available to contact for assistance, so we had to use napkins and paper towels to address the spill. There was additional décor stored in that closet that we were unable to access after the event. This became another inconvenience, particularly when we were attempting to complete cleanup and retrieve items. Oddly enough Davonya showed up to the formal event dressed in regular clothing . Several guest saw her open the closet door and close it. She briefly spoke with my client. My client told her that she needed to speak with her, we wanted to address the closet door being locked and other things. In my opinion it wasnt the best time for her come during an event , my client was enjoying herself and guests. shortly afterward, Davonya disappeared and was nowhere to be found. The closet was still locked Overall, I found the lack of communication, missed appointment, conflicting setup information, limited accessibility, and lack of professional follow-through extremely concerning.I have been decorating and setting up special occasions for years, and I have worked with many different venues. I have never experienced business being conducted in this manner. Let this not be a reflection of the Venue it's Beautiful
