I loved this ride! We visited during Super Bowl Sunday, so the wait time was about 20-minutes, but from what I hear it's typically 45+ minutes. Before hopping on there were A LOT of warnings of the ride's movements, flashing lights, possible nausea, and inducting of vertigo. This made my son very nervous and to be honest, me too. All that went away once we got into the ride and sat down. You're in a room with a massive immersive screen; sitting in a stationary roller coaster car that moves, shakes, and even gives the feeling of a real roller coaster drop. I didn't know this roller coaster was also 4D, meaning you'll get hit with blasts of air when the roller coaster drops, splashed with water when a mutated massive Maggie picks you up and sucks on you like a pacifier, and even a few smells like citrus and donuts. The main premise of this ride is that Sideshow Bob has escaped from prison and takes over control of the Krustyland roller coaster with Simpsons and us riding it. I love the continuity of the show mixed with ride and the ride itself was actually long considering most roller coaster are 30-45 seconds. Definitely worth the wait and if you're a true lover of The Simpsons, you'll appreciate all the Easter eggs hidden with it! read more

I really hope they re-mark this to be better. Such a disappointing ride. The plus side is I guess it is good for small children. The Transformers ride is very similar to this one. Expect that one is amazing. Maybe they need to add more special effects or something to take this one up a notch? It just seems like there is more they could do to make this one more enjoyable. A decently fun ride but I will never get on this before taking some anti-nausea medication. Never fails to make me a little dizzy after riding this. The ride itself is themed and decorated beyond words. You do feel like you are part of Springfield and Krusty Land. The inside waiting area makes you feel like you're at a carnival and has some funny signs and short videos to pass the time. The ride itself is a motion simulator ride that is three different floors worth of vehicles! The ride video and plot is fun and it does bump you around a good bit. I will say though they need to update or clean the screen or video projector because it is getting to feel blurry at times during the ride. The staff that work the ride have adorable costumes and are very friendly, making sure everyone is safe in the ride before it begins. By no means is this a ride I will wait on line for but it is a good ride to escape the heat or rain from. Not a great ride but not the worst ride they have. read more

It's a simulated ride, so if you don't get a seat in the first row, you might experience some motion sickness. Inside the ride, you seat inside a small car that fits four people in the front and four people in the back. The ride takes you as the "tourist" through a theme park with The Simpsons. L O C A T I O N The Simpsons Ride is in the faaaar back near the escalators to go to the lower lot. W A I T The time outside said 40 minutes and we had nothing else left, so we said, fine. It actually didn't take that long to be honest. It's a high loader ride since there's 3 floors where they have several cars that seat 8 people. If they do use all the cars, it's a lot of people in one round. T H E R I D E The ride is roughly 6 minutes long. It's supposed to be a rollercoaster simulation. You're basically staring at a very large screen in front of you which is the same screen all the other cars see. If you're sitting in the front, you can see the other folks in their cars. The car doesn't get flipped around or over, just a lot of jostling and tipping. Still got to me and my stomach. I felt every dip, turn, and movement. O V E R A L L As everyone said it's an old ride. The animation is a bit dated and the cars are definitely a little worn down. But if you're a fan of the Simpsons and know of Sideshow Bob, Krusty, and Simpsons, it's fun. Though I wonder how long this ride will be here considering Disney now owns The Simpsons. Who knows, this ride might be the next one to be replaced. I think if they kind of revamped it a bit, it would be better. It's exactly how I remember it and it was just okay. I remember when this was the Back to the Future ride and the mechanics were the same but different theming and I enjoyed it a lot more. It tends to get a hefty wait time all day but it's fun to do at least once. I'm a pass holder and I never find myself riding this but if you love the Simpsons you'll probably enjoy it. I do like the ride queue the props are silly and some of the ride effects are fun. I have to give this ride a low rating. It made me unbelievably nauseous. I had never struggled with motion sickness previously, so this was a new experience. I went on a Monday, and the line took around 30 minutes. You end up in separate "funhouse" rooms where you get in a rollercoaster car that holds 8 people. The car shakes and moves while you view 3-D animation on a large IMAX screen. The coaster intensely rolls through Springfield, and you get to see all your favorite Simpson characters. Unfortunately, I didn't get to enjoy the ride because I had to shut my eyes. The sounds, movements, and screen really got to me and messed me up for the rest of the day. I was super excited to ride The Simsons Ride, as I'm a huge Simpsons fan, and the rest of the Simpsons Land had been amazing. Unfortunately, The Simpsons Ride was a different story for me. It's a 3D motion simulator, and I found out for the first time on this ride that those make me queasy, so be careful about that. The theming is definitely on point, as is the rest of Simpsons Land. The experience you go through is riding a roller coaster through Krusty Land, so the cart is moving up and down like you're on a real roller coaster. More queasiness there, FYI. The screen you look at during the experience is a giant IMAX screen, and (at least the spots we were in) the screen is pretty close to you. Because of this, you have to crane your neck something awful to see everything going on in the experience. So I left with a queasy stomach, neck ache, and headache from craning my neck so much. The theming is amazing and the technology of the ride is super cool. I just wish it didn't bang me ip so bad in the actual execution. Maybe you will have a better ride than I did. I have been a Simpsons fan from the get go. I adore them and all the folks in Springfield. So I was excited to ride this. I did not read any reviews before so I went into this adventure very green. Anyways, this four minute ride is over 16 years old. Each ride vehicle has two rows of seats each row seating up to four people. It has built in speakers and has hydraulic movement in a stationary position. The vehicle shakes about simulating a roller coaster ride. So for folks easily susceptible to motion sickness, be aware. The ride uses 3D animation shown on an IMax screen placed right in front of the vehicle. A bit outdated technology compared to all the other current type rides at the park. I sat in the back row of the cabin and could not see the bottom half of the screen. That center of the screen is about at eye level. It would be more ideal if the screen was lifted higher above the riders eye level so the while screen can be seen regardless of seat placement. The express queue for the Simpsons Ride did end up with the non express folks. We were merged and directed into lines. We waited in an enclosed room with a low ceiling, the room was decorated as a carnival midway. If riders are claustrophobic, this ride may not be the ideal since the low ceiling seem to make the room more confined. Monitors with various Springfield characters appeared providing the s entertainment. Each line of folks were lead a small room also with a low ceiling. It seemed smaller than 10' x 10'. The staff closes the door and leaves us in there to watch the monitor for the pre-ride show. After the video, a staffer opens the adjoining door and ushers us into the room with the ride vehicle. It is a free for all at this point for seating. Crazy. So if you are adamant on sitting in the primo front row, stand closest to the adjoining door when viewing the pre-show. I wish the staff would number folks to keep the lineup from the larger queue so it does not end up in the inevitable shoving match at the end. read more

Oh my god this ride is fun. As much as I loved and then missed the BTTF ride when it closed, I think The Simpsons ride is so much better. The line to the ride is very bearable by the entertainment you have while in line. Feeling like you ate walking through Springfield and the colorful. Found in the Upper Lot of Universal Studios right before getting to the escalators to go the Lower Lot, you'll find all the Springfield fun - including the Simpsons Ride. The ride itself is fun but somehow I always end up waiting 30 minutes between the lines and pre shows. You think you're in? Nopppppeeee, not yet! More standing and pre shows. It's also just an old ride at this point, though only 15 years old, it just hasn't been properly maintained. Things are not painted nor well kept. Workers never seen happy here but maybe that's the schtick? They usually seemed annoyed and just look funny in their Krustyland uniforms. It's kind of a ride but mostly a 3D Show made to feel like a rollercoaster but it's all done virtually. It was really cool when it initially premiered but now just needs to be brought up to this decade. State of the art animation in 2008 equals way outdated in 2023. All of that being said, The Simpsons has always been such a fun show! If you're a fan, you'll sure appreciate the actual show. It's almost 5 minutes of virtual twists and turns with a really fun outcome! 5 minute wait that turns into 30 minutes? Pass on riding this. But 5 minute wait that actually is a 5 minute wait? I'd be down for this ride. Problem is, timing reports at Universal are so inaccurate that it's hard to ever know what to expect. The longest wait we had the entire day, despite going on this ride during the special event hours. It totaled an almost 40 minute wait and many people dipped out before we got to go on. There's a queue outside with various fun things to look at like a detailed map of Krustyland, some attraction signs, and clips from episodes of the Simpsons. While you're inside the main waiting area, there are carnival booths where characters like Groundskeeper Willie, Moleman, Apu, and Patty & Selma keep you entertained with puns and jokes. While this is going on there's also some small TV's at the front with some ride advertisements for Krustyland. It's another motion simulator roller coaster where you and the Simpsons have to survive a day at Krustyland with Sideshow Bob trying to murder all of you. Very fun and thrilling. In terms of excitement, it's below the Transformers but higher than the Minions for sure. There's water, smells, and much more. A fun ride for sure, just be wary of the wait times! read more

If you have a lot of time to kill, get in this line. Unfortunately it's my 9-year olds favorite ride at Universal Studios. Probably the worst and slowest queue and we've been on it many times. You get in line to get into another line, and then another indoor line, and then finally into a room to wait again. It was still a long wait when we decided to skip Super Nintendo World and came straight here at opening. Maybe we're just unlucky. The cartoons constantly playing will keep you somewhat entertained while in line though. The ride that replaced a classic. I finally was able to experience The Simpsons Ride, the ride that replaced Back to the Future: The Ride at Universal Studios in 2008. Like its predecessor, The Simpsons is a simulator ride where each group is placed in their own car facing a giant IMAX dome-shaped screen. Guests join the Simpson family on a rollercoaster ride gone literally off the rails as Sideshow Bob, as usual, tries to kill them. The wait time for the ride was 40-60 minutes all day, typically longer than all other rides in the park. No single-rider option. Except for the video in the room right before the ride, the videos playing in the ride queue were amusing but not really related to the actual ride. The ride is what you'd expect from a simulator, and it also incorporates smells at one point. The story delivers on the thrills in the over-the-top style of the show, though the exact storyline is a little forgettable. Unlike Back to the Future, this ride ditches the in-car monitor that added an extra level of immersion. This is not a bad ride overall, and it's more enjoyable than some other ones at Universal. But it doesn't quite hit the same caliber of greatness that its predecessor did. read more

As a child of the 80s, I grew up with the Simpsons... and for something like 3 decades, they've been cranking out episodes (Season 6, 7, and 8 remain my favorites, of course). Sometimes gritty, sometimes sweet, sometimes your eyes get sweaty-- the show has been a highly quotable part of my life for a long time. The avant-garde edge to Simpson's Land at Universal is well received, with plenty of show-references. This is not easy to pull off, but they've done it well. That ability to endearingly self-deprecate makes it all the more charming. The Simpsons ride does this too, with all tour favorite characters living right in the edge of stereotype and snark. The Sideshow Bob narrative of murderous hatred for the Simpson family, the nuclear power trope, the gaffs on how long you've been standing in line (which is somehow made more enjoyable by an endless stream of quotable Simpsons scenes shown on flatscreens over your head... I could stand here all day). The ride itself, like lots of other rides at Universal is that mess with your head combination of hydraulics, 4D effects like wind and water spray, and a wrap around projection screen. The sensory effect is good, although some suspense of disbelief is needed to make it really work. You're in a cartoon world, for goodness sakes... enjoy the moment! The car bucks and jerks like an old Ford Festiva with bad shocks on an LA freeway, so watch that spinal fusion, Mildred. The Simpsons Ride is located at Krustyland, right next to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. NO Single Riders Line, grrr!!! Express Pass and General Lines only. COVID-19 Safety Procedures: Face masks are required since the delta variant is rising. Previously, face masks were optional for vaccinated peeps. Now, everyone has to wear one. Hand sanitizers are available. The ride was crowded, but patrons kept a safe distance in between and it felt pretty safe. Before going on the ride, you're lead into a waiting room, continuing to watch Simpsons cartoon clips and are then assigned to your actual ride room. You'll then watch a safety clip before getting into the ride. Each room is pretty secured and you can leave your backpacks and additional souvenir bags to the sides. Each ride seats eight people (four in the front and four in the back). This is a motion simulator, roller coaster ride. There's a lot of jerking back and forth. If you're prone to motion sickness, have a bad back or neck sprain, avoid this ride. Before, it was a 3D ride, but motion sickness killed that fun. Overall, if you can handle it, you're in for a fun ride! Guaranteed, you will get squirted on with water through some parts of the scenes and you'll get your group picture taken towards the end. This is such a fun ride and probably in the top of favorite ride at Universal Studios. I would suggest getting this ride out of the way first when you get into the theme park. The wait can be 60 minutes or 70 minutes if you wait and go later. We were able to use the express line so instead of waiting 75 minutes, we were in line for about 25 minutes. The ride itself is fun and entertaining. It's not too fast or too bumpy so kids that are at the appropriate height will like it. You can also leave your bags or backpack on the side while enjoying the ride and not worried about someone taking it since it's in a secured room. Fun virtual roller coaster ride \(**)/ Although I did feel a little dizzy in some parts... okay, in many parts of the ride it was, for the most part, a fun adventure thrill ride as our indoor simulation virtual roller coaster blasted through the park with Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie in a non-stop adventure. The ride animation is shown on a gigantic 80-foot diameter domed surface. The setting is like a Simpsons cartoon episode gone haywire! As we stood waiting in the queue moving along there were televisions that showed clips from classic Simpsons episodes and also humorous posters with satires. This was our last ride for the day. The wait was 75 minutes long. Getting closer to the ride we stood in groups up to 8 people per line then it led us into a staging room for more video instruction and finally shown into the actual ride, which is a colorful carnival-ride themed car decorated with another giant head of Krusty the Clown. The car holds four in front and four in back. The "cars" don't actually go anywhere; they just lift off the ground a little bit and dip, spin, swerve and jerk you through the crazy carnival scene. It's all about 3-D animation. I followed The Simpson's series for a little while on television so the features and humor made some sense. The ride is true to the series. The ride lasted for about 4-1/2 mins. I'm just lucky that the chicken tenders I ate at Gru's Lab Cafe didn't end up on the floor. The Simpsons Ride opened in 2008 and this was my first time ever riding it. The Simpsons ride is located before Lot2 and between Harry Potter and the Studio Tour ride I came here with my daughter during Thanksgiving break. We have the platinum pass which includes the express pass. We decided to stop by the ride and use the express pass. The average wait time was 50+ minutes. There looked to be a section of the ride that was in maintenance which may be one of the reasons why the wait time was so long. You walked through a wait area and then are brought into a room. There were multiple screens with a variety of characters from the Simpsons show making some funny jokes. You wait there and then watch a screen to give you a back story to the ride. You are then brought into a small room which should have a max of 8 people, 4 in each row. You then watch another small clip for the back story for the ride. You are then brought to another section of the ride where you sit down and where your 3D glasses. This is by far one of the best 3D ride that Universal Studios has in their park. You are then lifted up into the 3D motion ride. It was a lot of fun!!! I was laughing during the ride. The nice part, you werent dropped into a store at the end lol :) if you are at Universal Studios, you need to ride this once! read more

This ride was cool and different than I was expecting. Not sure if it was from a long day at universal studios or whatever but I think this ride made me the most nauseous out of all of them in the park. Average waiting time for this ride is 35-45 minutes. Do not wait that long. This ride opens at 9am so visit after Harry Potter World it is right next door. It's a really fun ride. If you're even just slightly a Simpsons fan, you'll love it. You enter a small room where they play you the backstory and give you the safety rules. Then you enter in a rollercoaster cart (4 in the front and 4 in the back) and if you don't hurry, Homer starts screaming till you settle in. Then when the ride starts they lift up the cart and it's a wide screen playing a 3D style Simpson adventure. The ride is filled with jokes and goofs. Highly recommend. read more

Probably some spoilers ahead - Describing the ride, if you're not wanting to know how the ride works, then I wouldn't read on! I'm pretty partial to this ride as it is my favorite in the park. The line is long but I think it's worth it, especially if you've never been on it, plus, they seem to get through it quicker than what the estimated time is. It's a 3-D ride where you get into a car - it seats 8, four people in the front row, and four people in the back. There's a big screen, and the car moves around, as if you're on this crazy wild roller coaster ride along with a storyline in the Simpsons. It's like a nice little show along with the 3-D ride that goes along with it. Standing in line is just ehh, as you would expect. This ride usually has the longest wait times. They have the TV's everywhere and they're obviously playing The Simpsons so you can watch. When you get into the room before the ride, they have nice little aspects in the room, that's also playing clips from the Simpsons, or playing specific videos made for the ride. Once you're about to get onto the ride, they put you into a room and they play clips, and then they show you the rules. I really enjoy this ride! read more
